His condition seems to have stabilised somewhat now that he is in the hospice . It is still an open question as to if and when he will get home. As he needs a lot of rest and quiet, we need to be sparing with the visiting. Please keep up the prayers. THIS WEEKEND we welcome Fr Gerry Corvoy, a Columban missionary priest who is with us to preach the annual appeal for the foreign missions. LENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR PRAYER: Sundays at 4.00pm: Rosary, Evening Prayer and Benediction; Fridays: Mass at 7.00pm followed by Stations of the Cross. There are also Deanery Talks on the Three Pillars of Lent: Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving. They take place at St Teresa’s, Ashford, and the next one, on the theme of Almsgiving will be on 20th March. Christian Meditation each Tuesday at 2.15pm in the Upper Room & on each Thursday at 7.30pm (Upper Room) FEAST DAY THIS WEEK – St. Patrick Friday 17th March. HOUSE MASSES DURING LENT: We are still open to people offering their home for a House Mass: please contact Fr Mark or Fr Patrick. Moyra Feathers will host a Mass on Wednesday 15th at 7.30 pm . Retreat Day at Minster Abbey: Saturday 25 March. We aim to arrive at Minster for 10.30. For those requiring a lift from the church, we will be leaving at 10.00. Please bring a packed lunch. We will finish the day by 4.30pm at the latest. The theme of the day is the Gospel of St Matthew, copies of which are available from the church shop. There is no set charge for the day but offerings for the Abbey will be much appreciated. AUCTION & IRISH CEILIDH FRI. 17TH MARCH TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE STREET CHILDREN OF THE PHILIPPINES The Sacred Heart Sisters and companions are holding an auction and Ceilidh, Irish evening in the retreat Hall on St. Patrick’s Day. All the proceeds raised will go to the street children in the Philippines where the Sacred Heart Sisters work with the very poor. The auction viewing starts at 6.00pm. The evening proper starts at 6.30. 1. Come along on the 17th March and enjoy an Irish welcome and auction. 2. Buy raffle tickets on sale after all the weekend Masses. WHITSTABLE CHORAL SOCIETY: present Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana at Herne Bay High School, Saturday 25 March at 7.30 pm LET’S TALK: Our next session will be on Monday 20th March at 7.00pm in The Catholic Club: theme: ISLAM: what should our attitude to this world religion be? ANIMALS WORLDWIDE QUIZ in the Retreat Hall on Saturday, April 1st. at 7pm for 7.30pm start. Admission, £7 per person. Includes ploughman's supper and drinks. There will be a group leaving the grotto area in front of the church on Saturday at 9.30 a.m., walking to King’s Hall and back, calling in to the Catholic Club for a hot drink and leaving time for anyone who wishes to attend the 11.05 Mass. Why not give it a try? The walk is wheelchair-and buggy-friendly. CHARITY CONCERT: MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS THERAPY CENTRE, CANTERBURY (MSTC)- 7.30 p.m. 25th MARCH The Hoath Village Singers are holding a concert in aid of the MSTC at the Hoath Village Hall CT3 4LA. Adoration every weekday: One hour, from 8.30-9.30a.m. Also Saturday morning, 10.00 to 11.00. There is a further opportunity each week: at Convent Chapel, 25 Western Esplanade from 4.30 to 5.30 p.m. on Fridays.
