ST AUGUSTINE WEEK 2017: 26 MAY to 4 JUNE: Come and celebrate our diocesan patron, St Augustine of Canterbury, with the annual St Augustine Festival Week. There are talks, tours. Music, workshops ,processions, Masses and much more. Highlights include the National Pilgrimage Day, Saturday 27th with Cardinal George Pell. The Blessing of the Sea on May 29th and the grand re-opening of the restored east end of the church plus blessing of the new visitor centre with Archbishop Peter Smith on 3rd June. CHRISTIAN MEDITATION: Tuesday at 2.15pm and Thursday at 7.30pm in the Upper Room COMPANIONS IN PRAYER There will not be a meeting in May. The next meeting will be in June.


On MONDAY 22 MAY we were planning to have a Let’s Talk session on “The Afterlife”….but in the light of what follows we thought to postpone it until next month. The reason is that a meeting has been arranged at Christ Church, William Street, to meet and listen to the candidates for the GENERAL ELECTION on the same Monday. Candidates from the Conservative, Labour , Green, Liberal Democrat and UKIP parties will give a brief presentation of their party’s manifesto and will then answer questions sent in advance. There will be refreshments in the church at 7.00 pm and the meeting proper will start at 7.30. If you would like to submit a question, please email office@parishofhernebay.org.uk A MISSIONARY GROUP FROM BETHLEHEM NATIVITY is visiting this weekend 20th-21st May to briefly talk about the Holy Land and sell religious articles made out of olive wood from the Holy Land to help and support the poor Christian families any help you could give to them it will be highly appreciate. (“When you help the poor you help our Lord”). TRAIDCRAFT - next weekend 27th and 28th May after 6 pm and 9.30 am Masses. NB. June sale will be on July 1st and 2nd. HOLIDAY/RETREAT TO MINSTERACRES: There are still places available on our retreat to the Retreat Centre in Northumberland from 12th to 19th August. WALSINGHAM PILGRIMAGE- Sunday 17th September. A coach will leave from our church at 7am. Details to follow soon. PLATEA: What do you think about Platea, our parish magazine? In order to claim the gift aid on donations our donors need to have paid sufficient tax. If you are no longer paying sufficient tax, please contact the parish office.

WALL MONEY-BOXES- This week we have sent a cheque to Aid to the Church in need for £600.23 and a cheque to Mary’s Meals for £339.06 – from the wall boxes proceeds. Thank you for your continued support for Syria & Mary’s Meals.
