Sat. 24th June: The Nativity of St. John The Baptist. CHRISTIAN MEDITATION: Tuesday at 2.15pm and Thursday at 7.30pm in the Upper Room FIRST HOLY COMMUNION: We had a beautiful celebration for the seven children and their families last Saturday. Many people commented on how well the children took part; it was a very devotional celebration. The programme for First Communion, which comes from the Archdiocese of Liverpool, expertly led by Cloe Maple and Sue Coppins, is remarkable for the ways in which it involves the families and everyone felt that there was such a good “family” feel to the programme and to the big day. Today at the 9.30 Mass the children will receive their certificates. This afternoon (i.e. Sunday) there will be a Procession in honour of the Blessed Sacrament at 4.00 as an act of thanksgiving to God for all His blessings. Our thanks to Carol Pease who made a beautiful cake and to the ladies of the parish who took care of the arrangements for the Communion Breakfast. LET’S TALK: our next session will take place on MONDAY 19 JUNE and will be an opportunity to discuss the questions arising out of our belief in The Afterlife. We will meet at the Sisters’ house, Stella Maris, 25 Western
Esplanade at 7.00pm All welcome. Some things to ponder: How do people get to heaven? Should we worry about it or just get on with building the earthly kingdom? Does Hell exist…..and if so, how can we square this with the concept of a loving God? Can Christian belief include re-incarnation? Do angels exist? What do we understand by the devil? What are ghosts? Can people be “possessed”? What about horoscopes and spiritualism????? Come along and share your views and become better acquainted with Church teaching.
