CHILDRENS LITURGY- This group is open to children aged between 4-9 years (9.30am Mass) term time. FAMILY MASS THIS SUNDAY 25th JUNE 9.30AM After Mass all the children of the parish are invited into the Retreat Hall for arts and crafts activities along with drink & biscuits! All are welcome, a great way for the children to get to know one another. The collection for Peter’s Pence will take place next Sunday: the money is sent to Rome from where it is distributed to Catholic communities throughout the world which are in greatest need. A WEEK OF JOURNEYS: This week will see Fr Malachy attending the ordination of Patrick Lobo, a parishioner from our parish in Highgate, London at the Benedictine Abbey of Belmont near Hereford. Fr Patrick and Brother Francis will be going to Leeds for the Ruby Jubilee of Ordination of an English priest who worked for many years in Sweden. The jubilee Mass will be celebrated by the Bishop of Sweden, Anders Arborelius, who, on 28th June will be made a cardinal by Pope Francis, the first ever Swedish Cardinal. It will be a wonderful opportunity for Fr Patrick and Bro Francis to greet the newly appointed Cardinal and remind him of his happy visit to Herne Bay

REFUGEE WEEK (19 to 25 June). It's one of the UK's largest festivals celebrating the contribution of refugees and promoting understanding of why people seek refuge. As part of the week, on this Sun. 25th June The Whitstable - Calais Solidarity Group will be holding a Refugee Tea at St Alphege Church in Whitstable. DIOCESAN DAY FOR DISABILITY at The Friars, Aylesford on Sunday 2 July. The day will start with Mass in the Relic Chapel (12noon) and will feature drumming, art and circus workshops as well as a mobile zoo. All are welcome to come and join in the celebrations, particularly those families with children who have physical or learning disabilities. CENTRE FOR CATHOLIC FORMATION : OPEN EVENING: Weds. 5th July (4pm onwards). The CCF will be hosting an Open Evening at its premises in Tooting Bec to which all are cordially invited and all are very welcome. Opportunities to: explore the teaching spaces, library and bookshop, meet the members of the CCF team, hear about the courses and events they offer, enjoy a social evening with light refreshments. RSVP (to give an idea of numbers for the refreshments) to: office@ccftootingbec.org.uk or call 020 8672 7684 STUDY DAY hosted by the CCF on 8th July from 10.30am to 4pm, for all those who have recently been asked to perform the role of catechist in the parish (no matter the area of sacramental preparation) or anyone considering the role. They will explore, in particular, the vocation of the catechist and the relationships between the different sacraments; registration needed (office@ccftootingbec.org.uk or 020 8672 7684) as they will be offering a light lunch. Cost for the day: £10. HOLIDAY/RETREAT TO MINSTERACRES: There are still places available on our retreat to the Retreat Centre in Northumberland from 12th to 19th August. Take a few minutes and read the article in issue 2 of Platea and if you would like more information please contact Deacon Barry. FAITH IN ACTION VOLUNTEER 2017/2018 – Through the Columbian missionaries in Britain. It includes a significant overseas visit to experience mission work in another culture. A year of putting faith into action through projects connected to refugees and asylum seekers, inter religious dialogue, and justice and peace education. MISSION TODAY – Members Summer edition is available for collection at the back of the church. CHURCH CLEANING – Volunteers work in groups of 2 to 5 people. They hoover, polish & clean the church, & entrance porch and clean the brasses. Can you spare 1 or 2 hours once a month to help? If yes please speak to me personally or phone 373133/07835839754.
