FEAST DAYS THIS WEEK: Tuesday 12th Dec. Our Lady of Guadalupe. Weds. 13th Dec. St. Lucy. Thurs. 14th Dec. St. John of the Cross ADORATION AT CONVENT CHAPEL ON FRIDAYS- Please note change of time. The Friday Adoration at Convent Chapel 25 Western Esplanade, will be from 3pm-4pm until further notice. All parishioners are very welcome to attend. SUNDAYS IN ADVENT: This Sunday (10th) there will be Rosary, Adoration and Evening Prayer of the Church at 4.00 pm. On the Third Sunday of Advent 17th December, we have our annual CAROL SERVICE starting at 4.00pm. This service, led by our choir, has proved to be increasingly popular. A retiring collection will be taken for Westminster Children’s Society which is doing sterling work now in our diocese of Southwark, helping children and families in real need. CHRISTMAS: There will be Mass at the normal times on 23/24 December: Saturday evening 6.00 and Sunday Morning 9.30 and 11.15. CHRISTMAS EVE: Family Mass at 6.00 pm with Carols at 5.40; Midnight Mass, with Carols at 11.40 pm; Christmas Morning: Mass at 10.00. Boxing Day: Mass at 11.00 a.m.


Many parishioners will remember Joan Searle (married name Webb); she has died and her funeral will take place in Wales. She was a parishioner for 40 years and a member of the choir. May she rest in peace. THIS SUNDAY 10TH DECEMBER - WE WELCOME Whitstable Calais Solidarity WHO WILL BE SELLING CARDS & CALENDERS. All proceeds from our cards and calendars will go to KRAN - Kent Refugee Action Network, a local charity based in Canterbury & Folkestone who work tirelessly with young unaccompanied asylum seekers and refugees. Proceeds will provide emergency shelter and provisions for young people who have been refused asylum & find themselves with the prospect of becoming homeless and destitute. Go to www.kran.org.uk for further info. CHILDREN’S LITURGY GROUP - Preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Next Sunday 17th Dec. the Children will be involved in making a Christingle. The Children’s Mass will be on Christmas Eve at 6.00pm. At this Mass we will act out the Christmas story during the Gospel, with the children who attend the children’s liturgy miming the parts. There are no words to learn as Deacon Barry reads the gospel while the children act it out. We are holding two short practises after the 9.30 Masses on this Sunday (apologies for late notice) and next Sunday 17th Dec. Please pick up a form at the back to Church if you wish your child/children to take part. LUNCH CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY - Wednesday 13th December. Please arrive about 11am to enjoy refreshments and carols before lunch. We will be holding a raffle so bring your lucky touches. We look forward to seeing you for a fun filled time. COMPANIONS IN PRAYER: Christmas Party at Star of the Sea, this Wednesday at the usual meeting time. CHRISTMAS FAIR – THANK YOU! A big thank you to all the people that helped - giving goods, served and spent their money on last Saturday to make our fair a success. SVP SILVER SNOWFLAKE APPEAL- there are additional snowflake jars & envelopes for those who missed out last week as supplies ran out. Please collect at the back of the Church after all Masses. When you open your Advent Calendar you are invited to put a silver coin in the jar. Please return the jars and/or envelopes at Christmas Masses. CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY Sunday 17th December - Please note all available places have now been taken up. For those who have taken up the invitation, the party is between 1.30 p.m. & 4 p.m. in the Parish Hall MARY’S MEALS: “DOUBLE THE LOVE APPEAL”: THANKS TO THE AMAZING GENEROSITY OF THREE DONORS, ALL DONATIONS TO MARY’S MEALS BEFORE THE END OF DECEMBER WILLL BE DOUBLED. You may like to put a donation in the wallbox at the back of church. PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL: Calling for new members!! We try to rotate the membership of the PPC and every two years some members stand down and others join. Members are asked to attend a monthly meeting and to be ready to join a sub-group when the need arises. All that is needed is a desire to help the parish grow and develop and to become a more effective Christian presence in the town. If you would like to nominate someone or if you would like your own name to go forward, please speak to Gerry McWilliams (current chairperson) on 740837 or speak to any member of the parish team. To gift-aid your offering please fill in one of the forms at the back of Church.. CHRISTIAN MEDITATION: Tuesdays 2.15; Thursdays 7.30 pm. In the Upper Room. Adoration every weekday: 8.30-9.30a.m. Also Saturday morning, 10.00 to 11.00 with Rosary at 10.45., said for the Parish each week. There is a further opportunity each week: at Convent Chapel, 25 Western Esplanade from 3.00 to 4.00pm on Fridays. Sacrament of Reconciliation: Saturday 10am-11am and 4.30pm.-5.30pm
