SUNDAYS IN ADVENT: This Sunday 17th December, we have our annual CAROL SERVICE starting at 4.00pm. This service, led by our choir, has proved to be increasingly popular. A retiring collection will be taken for Westminster Children’s Society which is doing sterling work now in our diocese of Southwark, helping children and families in real need. SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION: There will be priests available for Confessions on Tuesday 19th December from 7.00 pm until 8.00 pm. Apart for Frs Mark, Patrick and Malachy, there will be a visiting priest. Some people have asked that the Examination of Conscience that F Mark used at weekend Masses last weekend should be made available. Please see the extra sheets on the ledge at the back of church. CHRISTMAS: There will be Mass at the normal times on 23/24 December: Saturday evening 6.00 and Sunday Morning 9.30 and 11.15. CHRISTMAS EVE: Family Mass at 6.00 pm with Carols at 5.40; Midnight Mass, with Carols at 11.40 pm; Christmas Morning: Mass at 10.00. Boxing Day: Mass at 11.00 a.m. WEDNESDAY LUNCH: A sincere thank‐ you to all who prepared the splendid Christmas lunch this week and who also provided the carol‐singing. A great way to finish a year of great Wednesday lunches. THANK YOU!!


CHRISTMAS TREE‐ STARS OF HOPE, LOVE & PEACE As you see, we have a Christmas tree by the Lectern. At the back of Church you will find some stars. Everyone is invited to write their message on a star/s of Hope, Love and Peace, and hang on the Tree. THE LATEST EDITION OF “PLATEA”, our parish magazine is now available for distribution. You are sure to have great joy in reading it when it comes through your door. Our sincere thanks and congratulations to all who haven involved in the production of our Christmas issue. CHILDREN’S LITURGY GROUP ‐ Preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus. This Sunday 17th Dec. at the 9.30am Mass the Children will be involved in making a Christingle. The Children’s Mass will be on Christmas Eve at 6.00pm. At this Mass we will act out the Christmas story during the Gospel, with the children who attend the children’s liturgy miming the parts. There are no words to learn as Deacon Barry reads the gospel while the children act it out. There is a short practise after the 9.30 Masses on this Sunday. Please pick up a form at the back to Church if you wish your child/children to take part. EQUAL SHARES: Winners for December – 1st prize Felicity O’Brien, 2nd Prize Winifred Wallis. SVP SILVER SNOWFLAKE APPEAL‐ there are additional snowflake jars & envelopes for those who missed out last week as supplies ran out. Please collect at the back of the Church after all Masses. When you open your Advent Calendar you are invited to put a silver coin in the jar. Please return the jars and/or envelopes at Christmas Masses. CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY This Sunday 17th December ‐ Please note all available places have now been taken up. For those who have taken up the invitation, the party is between 1.30 p.m. & 4 p.m. in the Parish Hall MARY’S MEALS: “DOUBLE THE LOVE APPEAL”: THANKS TO THE AMAZING GENEROSITY OF THREE DONORS, ALL DONATIONS TO MARY’S MEALS BEFORE THE END OF DECEMBER WILLL BE DOUBLED. You may like to put a donation in the wallbox at the back of church. Cleaning Group – (C) – THE BIG CLEAN – all teams are asked to join the Big Clean on Tuesday 19th Dec. after the 10.00am Mass. Other rotas can be found in the porch The Collections for last week were: 1st Collection ‐ Loose change £412.78 Gift aided £407.00 = £819.78 NB If you are a UK tax‐payer then you can gift‐aid whatever you offer. To gift‐aid your offering please fill in one of the forms at the back of Church.. CHRISTMAS FLOWERS There will be a collection this weekend 16th/17th Dec. to enable the Flower Guild to purchase flowers to adorn the Church for the Christmas period. Throughout the year we have seen beautiful thought‐provoking displays and look forward to the Christmas creations! The only collection at the Christmas Masses is your personal offering to the Priests CHRISTIAN MEDITATION: Tuesdays 2.15; Thursdays 7.30 pm. In the Upper Room. Adoration every weekday: 8.30‐9.30a.m. Also Saturday morning, 10.00 to 11.00 with Rosary at 10.45., said for the Parish each week. There is a further opportunity each week: at Convent Chapel, 25 Western Esplanade from 3.00 to 4.00pm on Fridays. Sacrament of Reconciliation: Saturday 10am‐11am and 4.30pm.‐5.30pm
