Entrance Antiphon – Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvellous deeds, he has revealed to the nations his saving power, alleluia. CHILDRENS LITURGY- This group is open to children aged between 4-9 years (9.30am Mass) term time. THIS SUNDAY 29th APRIL THE 9.30AM MASS IS THE FAMILY MASS: - Children from the parish will be leading the readings, and bidding prayers. After Mass all the children of the Parish are invited into the Retreat Hall for arts & crafts; along with soft drinks and biscuits/ Tea & Coffee for the adults. All welcome – come along and meet other families. A great way for the children to get to know one another. TRAIDCRAFT THIS weekend, 28/29 April after 6pm and 9.30am Masses. Tea & Coffee-Soft drinks & Biscuits – are served after the 9.30am Mass in the hall, all welcome 9.30 MASS Hymns: 697, 600, 806, 720, 270; Mass Setting: Joy & Peace with the clapping Gloria.

ROSARY AROUND THE COAST: This Sunday 29th April Catholic communities which are close to the coast in the UK are invited to pray the Rosary in reparation for the 50 years since the passing of the Abortion legislation. We are planning to host people from across the deanery and plan to say the Rosary in the open air in the railed-off seated area on Western Esplanade a few yards west of the Lane Ends roundabout. Gather in church at 2.45pm. EXPLORING THE EUCHARIST: The second of our three Deanery sessions devoted to the Eucharist. It will take place in the St Jude Centre at Faversham, next Saturday May 5th, beginning at 11.00.a.m.There will be a talk by the Carmelite Provincial, Fr Kevin Alban, O.Carm, on The Eucharist and Scripture. Discussion, Prayer, finishing at 1.00pm – please bring a packed lunch. Lifts will be available. Please make every effort to support this deanery event. Lifts will be available. Please have a word with Fr Mark. SACRED HEART COMPANIONS IN PRAYER – MAY DATE – The Mother General will be visiting the convent of Friday 11th May and Fr. Malachy has offered to say Mass at 7pm in the convent chapel. All companions are asked to attend on the 11th May. This will replace our usual meeting in May.


LET’S TALK: Come along to the Sisters’ house, 25 Western Esplanade on Monday at 7.00pm to share your thoughts and experiences on the theme of : What does prayer mean for us? How difficult is it? Has my way of prayer changed? Are my prayers answered? What about unanswered prayer?...... All welcome. Come early!! HERNE BAY BOCCIA TEAM: As we have often mentioned, our Hall is the base for this indoor bowls sport for people with disability. The team has been going for 5 years and last weekend some members took part in the national championships: one, Layla Parsons, came fifth in her category and Shona Fitch, got the bronze medal in hers!!! Great news!! And a great tribute to the club and all who are involved. THIS IS YOUR PARISH: We invite you all to an afternoon’s reflection on our life as a parish community…what it is at present and how it might be improved in the future. Sunday 20 May, 4.30 p.m. YOUTH GROUP – With increasing youth numbers, we are in desperate need of additional adult help in order to ensure the continuation of the club. Please contact: 01227 373497 if you are interested. PLASTIC POLLUTION: What can we do abut it? If you would like to attend a local event on this most contemporary of issues, go along to Our Lady Immaculate, Whitstable, Church Hall on Sun. 29th April after the 10.30 Mass. The Whitstable J&P group have been hard at work for a long time preparing this important event. FOOD BANK SVP - we are very low in stocks of tea bags, tinned meat & tinned vegetables, and Pasta. Any donation would be greatly received. Thank you for your support. WEDNESDAY LUNCH CLUB Sadly May’s lunch club is cancelled - Lunch club will be back to normal on 14th June. "SAVE THE DATE 30TH JUNE – SUMMER FAYRE’ - St Mary's Parish Hall, outside grounds & Club facilities Parishioners able to help organise there will be a meeting to be held in Hall on 13th May after 9.30 am Mass MESSAGE FROM CAFOD “Thank you for your support to our Lent Fast Day appeal. Donations to CAFOD until 12 May will be doubled by the UK Government. We have planned a £5 million programme to combat malnutrition - and with it we hope to be able to reach 245,000 people. But we need the full amount of match funding to make it happen. You can help us reach the full amount needed for this crucial programme. We still have some way to go yet! To donate please go to cafod.org.uk/lent “ EQUAL SHARES:2018/19 – Final request for applications to be returned. It would be a shame if we were unable to continue the scheme, running now for over 60 years. We still require 20 new members to break even. JACQUI SUGGETT Many of you attended the funeral of Jacqui and contributed to the collection for The Pilgrims Hospice. We have received a letter from the hospice, thanking you for the very generous donation of £1,171.50

The dates for this are JUNE 22 – 24 and all the events will take place in the hall and the church. It promises to be very helpful in strengthening a love for God’s Word and also very enjoyable at the same time. We will keep you informed as to how the plans develop.

CCF Golden Jubilee: 1968-2018 The Centre for Catholic Formation will be 50 years old this summer. A lecture series has been arranged as part of our celebrations. All are welcome to attend one or all of four evening talks on key themes: Bishop Paul Mason on adult formation (5 June); Dr Caroline Farey on catechesis (8 June); Canon John Udris on GK Chesterton (14 June) and Dr Pia Matthews on Disability Theology (19 June). Post-Easter Talks at the Amigo Hall Each year the Centre for Catholic Formation hold a series of talks at the Amigo Hall, SE1 7HY, in the weeks of Eastertide. This year, the series’ theme is Eucharist in anticipation of the upcoming National Eucharistic Congress. Entry is free, donations welcome. Doors open at 7pm for 7.30pm start Eucharist and Prayer (3 May) and Eucharist in Scripture (10 May). The talks will also be filmed & will be viewable on the CCF YouTube channel.
