FEAST DAYS THIS WEEK – Monday 31st: St Sylvester; Tuesday 1st New Year’s Day: Mary, Holy Mother of God. Wednesday 2nd: Sts Basil and Gregory. Sunday 6th is the Feast of the Epiphany.

HEARTFELT THANKS to you all for your great generosity to us in the Passionist Community over Christmas. We received so many gifts, as well as in the Christmas Offerings, that it is impossible to thank you all individually. And isn’t the church looking so beautiful, thanks to the loving creative skill of our flower arranging group!! The choir excelled themselves at the Carol Service last Sunday and they led the congregations wonderfully during the Christmas Eve Family Mas and at Midnight. The Family Mass was packed, with standing room only, and it was gratifying to see that the numbers for the Midnight Mass are growing. Thanks are also due to our altar servers for all their great work. And what about the new children’s singing group who sang for us during the Carol Service?!! There is such a lot of promise there!

NEW YEAR’S EVE: An hour of prayer at 4.00 pm to pray the New Year in. All welcome.

THANKS TOO for the collection at the Carol Service which, added to the collection taken at the Camerata Singers’ Concert earlier in the month, meant that we were able to send a cheque for £264.58 to the Catholic Children’s Society who are doing wonderful work with families and schools throughout the Diocese.

The Crib Collection will be sent to Friends of the Holy Land who work with poor Christian families in Israel/Palestine. Chris Ellmers, brother of Lynda, our late parish secretary, has donated £1,000 to the parish in her memory. We are most grateful and very happy to remember Lynda in this way. SVP- urgently require bunk beds for large family in great need. Also needed tumble dryer for a family living in damp conditions. If there are any envelopes or snowflake jars still to hand in, please do so at the Masses this weekend. AGE UK: Can you make a difference? As Christmas time approaches, we remember that this is often a particularly difficult time of year for many older people. Loneliness which may be felt throughout the year is often compounded in the festive season when traditionally friends & families get together & share happy times. Age UK run a befriending scheme.
