PRAYER OPPORTUNITIES IN LENT: • Every Sunday: Lent Devotions, including Stations of the Cross: 4.00p.m. • Friday of this week: Mass at 7.00pm followed by Healing Service • Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: each weekday from 8.30 – 9.30 a.m. • Adoration every Thursday from 7.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. • And why not try to make it to a weekday Mass, Mon-Fri at 10.00 • There will be a TAIZE service of Evening Prayer at 7.30 p.m. on Monday April 8th – those who so much enjoyed the services held at the Franciscan Study Centre in the recent past will be especially pleased to read this FR CHRISTOPHER KELLY CP: Fr Christopher is not very well known here in Herne Bay – he gave a parish mission here many, many years ago but was never resident in the Retreat. On April 2nd he celebrates his 100th birthday but the big parish celebration at St Joseph’s Highgate (North London) will be this Sunday. Fr Malachy CP has the honour of preaching on this great occasion and Fr Mark will be joining him. We wish Fr Chris a very happy day and health and blessing for the future. ST PAUL OF THE CROSS: founded the Passionist Congregation in 1720. Next year, therefore, is the 300th anniversary of the Passionists and one of the ways of preparing for this great anniversary is to receive a specially painted ICON , which has depictions of St Paul of the Cross and other Passionist Saints. It is being

brought to every country where Passionists are present. England and Ireland are the first “stops” for the Icon and we shall be privileged to receive it in Herne Bay on April 2nd. It will be here until April 9th. St Paul of the Cross is not a very well-known saint but his holiness, courage and wisdom were famous in the 1700’s. He had a great desire to see Passionists working in England and every monastery he founded was asked to pray for this land. Our previous Parish Priest, Fr Ben Lodge CP, has written a brief life of the saint and it is available, price £1.50, in Sr Corinne’s shop. FUNERALS: Tuesday 2 April at 11.45am Requiem Mass for Wallace Pateman Wednesday April 3 at 12.00 mid-day Requiem Mass for Pat Egle. Tuesday 16th April at 11.00am Requiem Mass for Betty Evans. Thursday 18th April at 1.00pm Requiem Mass for Nellie Curran YOUTH CHOIR - With Father Mark’s blessing we have established a choir for youths aged 16 and under. We meet every Monday at 6.30pm in the church hall for one hour. Our aim is to sing at the Children’s Sunday Mass - and in the future, concerts and functions held by the church. It is not purely for members of the parish but open to any children who would like to sing and have some fun. Eventually we would like any young people who can play musical instruments to join us. If any children are interested in joining us just turn up on the night, or if you wish for more information please ask your parents to contact Rino Ardolino mobile no. 07739579659 or Peter Green mobile no 07443544641 and we will be happy to explain everything.
