SIXTEENTH SUNDAY (year c) 16/17 JULY 2016

Entrance Antiphon God himself is my help. The Lord upholds my life. I will offer you a willing sacrifice. I will praise your name, O Lord, for its goodness. FEAST DAYS Friday 22nd July. St. Mary Magdalene was one of a group of women who followed Jesus and cared for him out of their possessions. She remained with Jesus during his last agony on the cross and, according to St. Mark and St. John was the first to see him after his resurrection. She recognized him when Jesus called her name. Saturday 23rd July St. Bridget 1303-‐1373 was born in Sweden. She married and brought up eight children, one of whom is St. Catherine of Sweden. After her husband’s death in 1344, she founded a religious Community – Bridgettines and received a number of mystical revelations. She corresponded with European monarchs, promoting peace and the return of the papacy from Avignon to Rome. She made pilgrimages to Jerusalem and Rome, where she spent her final years. She is one of the patronesses of Europe. FUNERAL MASS – Eileen Riley Friday 22nd July at 10.00am FR. MARK writes from Minsteracres: Dear Everyone, I am feeling well on the way to recovery after my bypass operation and look forward to returning to the parish this weekend. I know that the last couple of months have been very busy in the parish and I wish Fr Patrick well for his richly deserved summer break. It is great that Frs Malachy and Charles will be able to continue the excellent work they are doing as I feel it will be a while before I am back to full strength. My time at Minsteracres has been a very great blessing indeed and I am deeply grateful to the community for all their care and concern. Sorry that Wales did not make it to the European Cup Final -‐ I had been hoping for a Wales versus Iceland decider. All best wishes, Mark cp
