Enjoy unforgettable winter memories at the ‘Snow Festival at Mt. Taebaek’. Frolic in the fantastic world of white snow at Taebaeksan Mountain! Danggol Square of Taebaeksan Provincial Park, the festival’s main venue will hold a snow sculpture exhibition for visitors to enjoy ice sculptures and a range of other winterthemed artwork from home and abroad. There will also be a wide variety of amusement facilities such as a snow tunnel, slide and rafting area as well as snow and ice sculptures. Around Hwangji Pond, visitors may enjoy the light & ice festival along with the beautiful world of lights created by luminaries and the shining stars in the sky. A number of other interactive programs such as a snow sculpture competition for university students, Dr. Fish foot bath, snow sledding, dog sled rides and other fun games will be held during the festival period. Boseong Green Tea Plantation Light Festival (Now thru 25January)
Hwacheon Sancheoneo (Mount Trout) Ice Festival (10 January -1 February) The Hwacheon Sancheoneo (Mount Trout) Ice Festival will be taking place in Hwacheon in Gangwon-do. This virtually untouched region is known as the first area in Korea that freezes over in winter, and the river is covered with a thick layer of ice.
Boseong Green Tea Plantation Light Festival will take place in the green tea fields of Boseong, one of Korea’s most well-known tourist destinations. A large tree will be set up and various other places will be decorated with lights in the Hoecheonmyeon, Yeongcheon-ri regions. The festival will send a message of hope for the New Year to tourists and residents who visit Boseong during the winter period.
Visitors can try out ice fishing, and those who are feeling brave can try to catch mountain trout with their bare hands. As well as fun activities and performances, there is also an exhibition of ice sculptures that takes about 20 weeks to prepare. Visitors can sample raw and grilled mountain trouts, both of which are very delicious.
Boseong, the green tea capital, will present the nation’s largest green tea field tree, which will strike a beautiful image of Boseong into the hearts of all its winter guests. Those who visit the festival will wish to stay longer in Boseong and participate in all the events, rather than merely passing through.

(C) + V + (CC) initial consonant vowel final consonant (coda) Some vowels are placed on the right side of the initial consonant; some are placed underneath the initial consonant: Vowels ㅏ, ㅓ, ㅣ (and their derivatives, i.e. ㅐ, ㅔ, ㅒ,ㅖ) are placed on the right; and vowels ㅗ, ㅜ, ㅡ are placed undersneath the initial consonant. Let’s Learn Korean
Traditional vowel classification: Traditionally, vowels are classified into three categories, that is yang (bright), yin (dark), and neutral. This classification is very important, for it will be used when we learn conjugation of predicates and some phonological aspects of Korean. The cassification is as follows: yang (bright) ㅏ and ㅗ series (ㅏ, ㅑ, ㅗ, ㅛ, ㅘ) yin(dark) ㅓ and ㅜ series (ㅓ, ㅕ, ㅜ, ㅠ, ㅝ) neutral ㅡ and ㅣ
