Youth of the Month: Sarah Sue Venton
Sarah Sue Venton is the Youth of the Month for July. She brings a vibrant, bright spark here at the Youth Center. She is 11 years old and studies at Osan American Elementary School. Sarah loves to hang out with her friends in school. Art class, math and science are her favorite subjects. She was born in Incheon, Korea and has spent most of her life here. She speaks Korean and English fluently. She is quite an artist, loves to paint, draw and make animals and fake food out of clay. In fact, it’s hard to get her out of the paints here at the Youth Center because that’s all she wants to do-create! Sarah also loves movies; Minions and Kung Fu Panda are among her favorites. She lives with her parents and dog named Soju. Sarah is also a gifted musician. She plays both the piano and violin, and quotes the composer Beethoven as among one of her favorites. She hopes to be a fashion designer when she grows up. As artistic as she is, she’ll make a fabulous designer! We love to see Sarah and her artwork here at the Youth Center and will miss her creative spirit as she embarks on her next adventure to Fort Bliss, Texas.

At Caribbean Bay Water Park, part of Everland Theme Park and the largest water park in the world, not only can you enjoy swimming and water amusement rides, but you can also relax in hot spring waters all year round. The water park has various facilities, such as indoor and outdoor pools, a spa, a sauna, a wave pool, and exhilarating slides such as the Water Bobsleigh and Mega Storm. The water park is a favorite family destination. Designed with a Caribbean theme, one of the most popular attractions in the water park is the Wave Pool, where you can experience strong waves similar to those of the Caribbean Sea. The park’s cuttingedge computer system creates waves of up to 2.4m. - Caribbean Bay Spa Caribbean Bay Spa contains various hot spring pools and sauna facilities. Each of the spas famously provide unique health benefits. In addition to the water park, the Caribbean Bay Pass offers you full access to these facilities. - Jasmine tea spa The Jasmine Tea Spa relieves nervous tension, stress and depression. Jasmine tea also balances hormones, which helps alleviate menstrual pain, creates a regular menstrual cycle and improves fertility. It also reduces aches & coughs, and is great for dry, irritated skin. - Mineral Rich Hot Spring Water Believed to enhance women’s beauty, hot spring water is also known to relieve dry skin, reduce fatigue, soothe aching muscles and alleviate insomnia. - Jade Crusted Sauna Helps relieve fatigue and improves blood circulation. - Lemon Spa Great for anti-aging and helps to release toxins from the body.
Gyeongbok Palace Built in 1395, Gyeongbokgung Palace is also commonly referred to as the Northern Palace because its location is furthest north when compared to the neighboring palaces of Changdeokgung (Eastern Palace) and Gyeonghuigung (Western Palace). Gyeongbokgung Palace is arguably the most beautiful, and is the largest of all of the five major palaces in Korea. The premises were once destroyed by fire during the Imjin War (Japanese Invasions, 1592-1598). However, all of the palace buildings were later restored during the reign of King Gojong (1852-1919). Remarkably, the most well-known edifices of the Joseon Dynasty, Gyeonghoeru Pavilion and Hyangwonjeong Pond, remained relatively intact. Other notable attraction includes the Geunjeongjeon Hall (Throne Hall), the largest and most formal hall in the Palace where the king used to preside over large official functions and entertain foreign envoys. Two major museums are also located within the palace. The National Palace Museum of Korea is located south of Heungnyemun Gate, and the National Folk Museum is located on the eastern side by the Hyangwonjeong Pavilion.
