Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival originates from the lantern lighting custom used during the Jinjuseong Fortress Battle of the Imjinwaeran War (Japanese invasion, 1592) as a military strategy to prevent Japanese troops from wading the Namgang River. The highlights of the festival are the floating of lanterns carrying personal wishes of the citizens along the Namgang River and the parade of lanterns created by students. In addition, the festival features gaejesik (lighting of lanterns in remembrance of the Jinjuseong Fortress Battle veterans), an exhibition of the world’s traditional lanterns and many participatory cultural programs.
Festival Period: 1-11 October 2015 Main Events
Lighting ceremony, floating lanterns on the river, Korean lantern exhibition, world traditional lantern exhibition, traditional crafted lantern exhibition and hanging wish lanterns
Hands-on Programs
Creative lantern making, hanging wishing lanterns and traditional games.
Subsidiary Events

COMMUNITY CENTER FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE Prizes & Giveaways every week! September 2015-February 2016 Cost: Free Fantasy Football will be a weekly draft. This is like traditional fantasy sports where players draft a team of real world athletes who then score fantasy points according to set scoring rules. However, instead of being stuck with the same team throughout the whole season, weekly fantasy sports contests last just one week. At the start of the next week, contestants can pick new players or keep the same players. Each team owner must designate which players will be starters each week- i.e. the only players who will “score” any points. The following example will be the format used a starting lineup: 1 Quarterback (QB)/2 Running Backs (RB)/2 Wide Receivers (WR) 1 Flex RB/WR/TEs (RB/WR/TE)/1 Tight End (TE)/1 Placekicker (K) 1 Team Defense/Special Teams (D/ST) If two or more players have the same amount of points then it will default to the player who picks the combined score for the Thursday night game without going over. This will be annotated on the sheet when players are submitted for the week. Only one draft per person!
