“UK vaccination programme is now underway” This was the headline we all woke up to on that cold December morning. It was on the radio, the television, in the papers, online. The light at the end of the tunnel had finally arrived. The UK had become the first country in the world to approve a COVID-19 vaccine for use. It was a momentous day not only for the first person who was vaccinated, but for the
decade any of us wanted. There were often times we couldn’t see the end, until we saw that headline. Most were emotional, some were skeptical, all were talking about it. And now, at the time of writing this article, more than ten million people have had their first dose of the vaccine against coronavirus. According to the NHS Chief Executive,

We are reminded that it is a marathon, not a sprint, and even though vaccines are being rolled out at record speed across the country, we are by no means out of the woods just yet. Just take a look at the pressure it is putting on the NHS. grandparents’ lives or save
1. There Is No Microchip This goes without saying, but unfortunately there are still people who believe the vaccine has a microchip. There is no evidence to support that powerful people are planning to use it to track the world’s population (Don’t worry though, our phones have that in hand, already).
2. It Does Not Alter Human DNA A vaccine is not a DNA altering liquid and never will be able to.
3. No One Died In Early Trials There were no early COVID-19 vaccine trialists who died because of the vaccine.
4. A Vaccine Is Not A Cure A vaccine is a preventative measure to stop you from getting it in the first place. If you have already had it, and survived, then unfortunately the vaccine will have no effect on you as your body will already recognise the viruses structure and know how to fight it.
5. Vaccines Aren’t Mandatory In The UK However other countries may differ. So if you think you can fly anywhere in the globe without proof of vaccination, you may want to check prior to booking that holiday.

Stay Sexy & Don’t Get Murdered
from their biggest mistakes and triumphant successes, even down to their favourite therapists. Without having read it yet, you might think it is a bit strange for me to say then, that this book couldn’t have come into my life at a better time. The authors preach about self-advocacy, self-love, freedom from responsibility of other people’s choices. Something each and every one of us is likely to have experienced a lack of at different points throughout our lives. Especially recently. It would therefore not be too bold for me to say that absolutely everyone has been affected greatly by the unexpected events that have unfolded over the past twelve months. That’s why this entertaining and empowering book has been quite the game-changer for me. And hopefully after putting this down and picking that up - for you too.
WORDS BY GRACIE HARVEY Podcasts have never really been my thing. I much prefer a good old fashioned book in hand, a film or a TV series to truly immerse myself in. One podcast however, recently peaked my interest - My Favourite Murder. When I discovered the talented and hilarious women behind it, had also written a book titled Stay Sexy and Don’t Get Murdered off of the back of this #1 cult-hit podcast, as well as becoming completely obsessed with the fact they refer to their fanbase as ‘Murderinos’, I was hooked before I’d even read it. I have always had quite a morbid fascination with murder; the detectives, CSI, forensics, pathology and even going deep into the minds of serial killers and psychopaths. Some of my favourite reads include Talking with Serial Killers: A Chilling Study of the World’s Most Evil People or Talking with
Much like the authors Karen and Georgia, I very briefly (I could write a book about this book) “encourage you to put your own needs first, stay out of the forest and become unfuckwithable.” Not too give too much away, but I loved this chapter because it concentrates on how women especially, were raised to prioritise, first and foremost, against our better judgement and whether we feel like being polite or not, is the perfect systematically ingrained personality trait for manipulative, controlling people to exploit.” Basically, it’s a story about how being rude is far scarier and harder, than being staunch. Georgia explains how she had to take hold of a situation she got herself in by using one of the many survival techniques that she had learned from her years-long true-crime obsession; telling him more about herself so that he would see her as a real, living, breathing human being.

Disenchantment refuses to follow the norms of being married off. During the first episode, she is met by Luci, a demon, and Elfo, an elf, who cause chaos and provide Bean the adventure buddies she has been looking for in life. Most of the cast are from Futurama, hearing Scruffy the Janitor as a Prince, or Lazy Sal as the King of Dreamland is what makes this show hard to get in to at the beginning, if you are an avid fan of Matt Groening's other works. Thankfully, Bender doesn’t appear as a cameo...yet. The series is a combination of Futurama’s slick adult humour, and The Simpsons randomness and ability to get into precariously funny situations. To begin with, it’s a bit difficult trying to figure out if you are a fan or not, but quite like Futurama, the series almost gains cult-status with its initial smaller audience. After going back to watching the series from the start, now that Season 4 is on the go, you appreciate the dark humour and joyful misery that is portrayed in the storyline. The first season is very much an episodic show, where each one is different and no real storyline is followed, it gives you time to understand the different characters and the way this

WORDS BY GRACIE HARVEY One of my dear friends has a habit of subconsciously knowing what book I need to read, exactly at the moment I need it. You know those friends who know you better than you yourself; they tend to just know what you need in order to feel inspired again. Hearing someone else’s story - whether fiction or nonfiction - sometimes helps you better understand that you’re not alone in how you may be feeling through these different chapters of the narrative that we call life. We immerse ourselves into reading as a form of escapism. Edith Eger’s The Gift, is one such example. Now, the author Edith Eger is no ordinary individual. that “you can’t heal, what you can’t feel”. On a deeply personal level, this really did speak volumes to me. I have had counselling in the past to help me face my own past experiences in order to heal; knowing that I have often been haunted by it and therefore finding that a lot of my (mostly romantic) relationships have suffered because of it. In addition, the physical imprisonment not only myself, but the entire world has felt over the past twelve months due to multiple lockdowns, working from home, furlough, tier systems and prolonged periods of isolation, has probably led us to become even more trapped in these prisons within our minds. Most of us have had ridiculous amounts of time to think about everything; this could be where we are in life, where we want to be, what we want, what we don’t want, what affects us, what doesn’t, what we’re missing, what we’re grateful for and so many other things that all

This walk takes you from the village of Tickton to the Leven Canal, using public footpaths along the River Hull. The route links the two East Riding villages using flat, waterside paths with nice countryside views on the way. The walk starts just to the east of Tickton, and you will see sights like the aqueduct at Sandholme Farm, which carries the canal over a drainage ditch which was already in existence when the canal was built.
