Highlighting AB Concept’s couturier-like approach to design, the spacious reception area doubles as a living room. Custom-made furniture is paired with coveted collectors’ pieces such as Finn Juhl’s Chieftain Chair and Hans Wegner’s Rocking Chair. Epitomising the bespoke luxury lifestyle, visitors are greeted by rare art pieces that adorn the atelier’s walls and convey AB Concept’s sophisticated style. Paintings by celebrated French artist Olivier et Myriam are complemented by works from American sculptor David Kracoz and Korean talent Yim Tae Kyu. 13

10 Ways To Open A Kitchen
To The Outdoors

1. Create a focal point with glass-paned barn doors. Go glamorous with the barn door trend by installing glass-paned barn-style sliding doors across one kitchen wall. The ample expanses of glass will let in light and views, and the doors themselves will provide a beautiful focal point, even after the sun goes down. 2. Go for sliders. Sliding glass doors and screens that slide into pockets take up no extra space, but have the potential to vastly expand the square footage of a kitchen during nice weather. 3. Add classic charm with French doors to the garden. The allure of a set of French doors simply cannot be beat. It’s a great choice for traditional homes where sliding glass doors would look out of character. To make the most of your French doors, design a special garden feature (trimmed hedges, a fountain) to line up with the view from inside. 4. Try folding windows. NanaWall windows fold up, allowing you to completely open up the kitchen windows to let in the breeze and sun. With their minimal frames, they are a good choice for modern and contemporary homes.

he kitchen is often the heart of the home, but in summer it can feel like a bit of a bummer to be cooped up by a hot stove. If you’re considering some updates to your kitchen and live in a climate that’s friendly to outdoor living, consider opening up your kitchen to light, air and outdoor entertaining with glass doors or pass-through windows. See if one of these 10 ideas for opening up the kitchen gets your imagination flowing.
5. Add an outdoor bar. From the outside, folding windows provide an ideal spot to create an outdoor bar with pass-through access to the kitchen. Positioning your outdoor bar beneath a wide eave, as shown here, will help provide some cover from the sun. 6. Add major light to an otherwise dark space. In a kitchen or an open-plan space without windows (such as in a row house), adding light at the end of the room is essential.
Here accordion-style glass doors completely fold away at the end of the long kitchen to reveal a garden patio. When you see the space from the outside, you can imagine how dark the interior would have been if the end of the kitchen had a solid door. With glass doors, both the kitchen and patio feel more spacious and welcoming. 7. Open up a galley kitchen. Glass doors at the end of a narrow galley kitchen offer an enticing view of the backyard, and can be flung open to allow easy access to an outdoor dining area. Even when the doors are closed, the additional light and view make the narrow space feel larger. 8. Try a small swap with a big payoff. Even a small change, like swapping a solid kitchen door for a glass version, can completely change the feel of the room, letting in extra light and giving you an eye on the outdoors. Bonus points for painting the frame a bright hue. 9. Open an entire side of your house. This may not be in your budget or even architecturally possible for your house, but if you can swing it, why not go for it? Glass doors that fold away, opening as much (or as little) of your home to the outdoors as you wish could completely change the way you live at home. 10. Install airplane-hangar-style doors. These are garage-style doors taken to the next level. The pro who worked on this project customized a set of doors by adding a hinge in the middle, giving them a striking look. The doors also save interior space when open (they fold up instead of sliding into the space).

Kitchen Layouts Guide Single-Wall and Corridor Layouts If you’re working in limited space you have only two layout choices: the single wall and the corridor. The single-wall, sometimes referred to as galley, layout has all appliances on one wall. The corridor, or two-wall kitchen, places them on two parallel walls. The single- wall kitchen is the least efficient plan because you can’t draw a work triangle in it. But this layout might be the only solution in a small apartment. Place the sink between the range and refrigerator. The refrigerator hinges should be on the side away from the sink so that the open door isn’t an obstacle in the work area. If you have a bit more space, a corridor kitchen is better than a single wall. Put two points of the triangle on one wall, and the third on the other. Place the refrigerator at the end near the main entrance to minimize traffic through the work triangle. (A work triangle comprised of the path between your sink, range, and refrigerator.) L-Shape Kitchens If space is tight, but not too tight, the L-shape kitchen is the best choice. With the sink, appliances, and cabinets on two adjoining walls, this layout is far more efficient than the corridor kitchen. The triangle is compact, and you can keep traffic out of the way. The L shape is a perfect layout in a kitchen with a dining area. It allows for long stretches of counter space -- a plus for serious cooks or a two-cook team -- not interrupted by doorways or tall storage units. Adding an Island Add an island to an L-shaped kitchen to get more counter and storage space. An island promotes socializing with people in adjacent areas. It becomes a bridge, connecting the cook and visitors. In an L, one leg of the triangle 20
is usually longer. Adding an appliance or fixture to an island can shorten it. But if the island takes up too much room, it can also be an obstacle. A cooktop or sink on the island can create a second triangle in a two-cook kitchen. If you’re not planning to add an appliance, an island on wheels might be a useful alternative. U-Shape Kitchens Of all kitchen layouts, the U shape is the most efficient. It puts a point of the triangle on each wall, making it more compact. A U offers more counter space per square foot than other layouts, with little risk of through traffic. This layout can accommodate a second cook if one of the legs of the U is long enough to contain a secondary sink or cooking center. Of course, nothing is perfect. One disadvantage of the U-shape plan is the two corners, which
are notorious for wasting storage space. You can avoid this problem, however, by choosing cabinets that make efficient use of corners. Another problem is the temptation to place work centers too far apart, since U-shape kitchens tend to be larger than most.

This is not about building something that stands the test of time but raising an eyebrow or two, encouraging a smile or stimulating a conversation – it’s about standing out from the crowd. Originating from street artists, hack design and graffiti are now nudging their way into the mainstream. Not content with original form, hack design takes an existing idea and redesigns it to look more individual often meeting a totally different function. natural palette runs through the house. A different gradation of light tone is smartly used and moves the air in the living area. One side of the wall is cover with white paint like the bright morning sunshine while the opposite side is cad with a very light tone of grey and appears to be the soothing light in the afternoon. At one end of the public space, the owner’s favorite piano is sitting there silently. This elegant music instrument perfectly merges into the atmosphere flowing in the air partnering with a deeper tone of grey wooden wall behind. A fluffy rug placed in the entertaining area enriches the textures and warmth in the space. The overall design is like a calming music runs through the house and makes the space a better place to stay together with the beloved ones. The designer considers functionality as 28
important as aesthetically pleasing. We make every detail to perfect because that is the only way to make a space fit with the owners’ daily routine. We keep a little privacy in the make-up time in the master suite and a reading corner is laid on the other side of the partition. We think even more in the children’s rooms. A pared down merge of pastel color in the two rooms prevent a makeover when the children grow up. Only a change in particular fixture can change the overall impression of the space and catch up with the rapid change of the interest of youngsters. The room is left very simple and capable for a passion from Barbie doll to famous pop star. elta will grow its A320 Family with an order for 15 A321ceo (current engine option) aircraft to offset jet retirements. The airline has selected CFM56-5B engines from CFM International to power the newly ordered A321ceo aircraft, which are scheduled for delivery starting in 2018. CFM International is a 50/50 joint company between Snecma (Safran) and GE. Delta currently operates a large fleet of Airbus aircraft, including 126 A320 Family aircraft and 32 A330s. The order announced today brings Delta’s backlog to 45 single-aisle Airbus A321 and 10 widebody Airbus A330 aircraft. All of Delta’s A321s will

hai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) reveals the first newly painted Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner in THAI livery. The787-8 Dreamliner is a truly passenger-centered airplane, designed for a significantly better passenger experience – from seat design to material selection, to cushion comfort, legroom, washroom convenience, to dynamic LED lighting, and the 65 percent expanded views from the windows. The interior is based on the Contemporary Thai design concept, with 264 seats in a two-class cabin. Each of the 24 Royal Silk Class seats is fitted with a 60-inch pitch and 21-inch seat width, and can recline to a 78-inch-long bed in full-flat, 180-degree position. The seats are shell-typed seats with a partition screen between seats, and arranged in a 2-2-2 abreast configuration allowing for privacy and easy access to the aisles. The aircraft is equipped with the next-generation Rolls-Royce Trent 1000-A engines. The culmination of advanced aerodynamics, and lightweight structures contribute to 20 per cent reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, as well as less “roar” around airport boundaries and airport communities. Between July 2014 and June 2015 THAI will receive six Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft in its fleet.
