Evaluation Question 4, How did you use Web 2.0 to your advantage, why is web 2.0 effective and how does it help low budget to no budget filmmakers? When making our product we had to use a lot of products that would not have been used by the big name professionals, we used cheap easy equipment that is easily purchasable, this is part of the web 2.0 era where people can more easily get equipment for low prices; When we upload our footage onto YouTube it will make it much more accessible to the general audience allowing people to share the video helping with publicity, rather than in the days of web 1.0 where producers used to make the product and we used to consume, now fans can make the product and help others consume the product. The use of YouTube and social media will be useful in the advertisement because it will allow the posters, magazines and trailers to be shown anywhere all over the world and people will be able to see all the products together giving them a bigger impression as to if they will enjoy the product.
Equipment used Camera When using the camera, we filmed everything we needed to; we used two cameras, Sian’s camera was used for extra filming and photo taking for the magazine covers; The colleges camera was used to film all the key scenes and was taken with us on locations. We had no issues with the camera except our own inexperience, we overcame this by getting advice from teachers and just trial and error. Tripod
Tripods where used to steady the camera so there would be known unnecessary shaky cam; the tripod was difficult to drop for the attack scene but we overcame this by speeding it up in editing. Voice recorder The Zoom microphone was used for recording where we needed it to sound crisper than when used on camera; the voice recorder didn’t work very well in big rooms and sometimes made a noticeable difference between audio we adapted this by re-recording or changing the volume after. YouTube YouTube was used when doing research into our product, it was presented on blogger and was used in conjunction with the research. YouTube showed no issues Issuu Issuu was used to present information we have already made on PowerPoint or other word documents; allowing us to put them on blogger; issue sometimes has trouble receiving the upload but we fix this by just re uploading Word Documents Used to present our information throughout the process; shown on blogger through Issuu; word had no issues. Blogger Blogger was used to present all our information in an order fashion without losing any information and presentation style, some information was presented straight on blogger and some was presented through YouTube and Issuu; blogger can get confusing if you don’t use the labels so we always used the labels and uploaded in the right order. Apple Macs Apple macs where used to process the information through the use of Premier pro and other items; the macs worked very well and helped with the process significantly, the only issue we had was transferring footage. Premier Pro
We used Premier Pro to edit out footage and put the trailer in ordered understandable order. Premier pro had no issues except our own lack of experience with editing. Photoshop Photoshop was used to edit our magazines and posters. There were no issues with Photoshop. Da font Dafont.com was used to find fonts and different styles of text.
Conclusion Technologies have been vital towards the creative process, with the easy to access cheap equipment we would never had been able to film in the first place, the convenience of sites such as YouTube, Issuu and Prezi. Creatively applications such as Photoshop allowed us a lot of freedom and tools to creative an inventive and conventional magazine cover and poster. Premier pro was especially useful because it allowed us to have extreme control of the editing and cutting; without premier pro we would have to use more “amateur” software such as windows movie maker and that wouldn’t have allowed us to make a higher quality product. Through the work in the first year using premier pro and Photoshop allowed us a basic understanding of what to do this year, obviously there was a lot of improvement made in that time.
