Photography In terms of photography I feel it is evident how I have improved from the preliminary task, the cover clearly shows the improvement. The framing of the shot is much more aesthetically pleasing and doesn’t leave the subject of my magazine out of frame of the magazine. The quality of the image is much better because I shot it on a much better quality camera. The image is also stretched in my preliminary tasks. As a high quality magazine my magazine needs to have a lot of work into it this is obviously not the case with my preliminary. The image also leaves space for the masthead and information where as on my preliminary there is obviously too much of the image and not enough space for text.
Presentation In my preliminary task you can see that there is no effort put into the presentation its thrown around like anything, whereas in my magazine you can see that I have thought hard about how I’m going to present the information in the cover you can see that I placed my text around the image and away from anywhere you could be distracted; the image is the USP and main attention point of the image and therefore all the text is placed somewhere it wouldn’t distract but isn’t hidden, I based my magazine on clash and I feel that placing my additional information towards the lower thirds of the magazine like clash would be the most aesthetically pleasing choice.
Use of Photoshop • Curves; the curves enabled me to change the tone of the photographs, by adjusting points along the line it helped me improve the quality of the magazine and give it the artistic look I was going for. • Blending Options; The blending tool helped me affect the pixels helping me edit and use the paint tool without making it look like it was done over top, the opacity helped me make some of my text slightly see-through so you could see the images • Magic Wand, I used the magic want to cut out any white from the DAFONT fonts without making it look not on purpose, this is shown in my cover line.
Overview In comparison with my preliminary work, which was scruffy, messy and didn’t have much through put into it. I have developed a lot. My new product has had a lot of thought put into it focusing on every detail. My presentation in my original work had no aim to it, it wasn’t trying to show something in particular it was just trying to show work in a mainstream format. The cover page obviously still has some of the same layout as the preliminary but it has had a lot more effort and consideration put into it, focusing on the image more and the text. The contents page has had a much better layout and has stayed simplistic rather than trying overcomplicate it also harks back to the house style of the magazine.
