Magazine double page spread

• The masthead is a sans serif bold block font with a gradient of orange to white through it. • The masthead stands out from the background because of the colour it injects into the over wise black and white photo, the gradient is effective because it connotes the title that it is the two worlds (two colours) • The mast head would be the first thing you see on the page and it stands out, this is convenient for anyone who wants to skip to this particular article. • The use of having a block font makes it stand out from the rest of the page, the rest of the page seems to all blend together where as the masthead doesn't, I feel this was used because it keeps emphasising what the article is about so when you are reading the article you don’t forget what its about. • There is an even gap between each letter and again the words this makes it seem very aesthetically pleasing because it looks even and ordered giving an aspect of order and formality, also the mast head sets the house style for the whole page the orange and white.

Image and background • The images are of Alex Turner and Miles Kane, the top one is wearing a dark clothes and the bottom one is wearing lighter clothes with sunglasses • The images contrast with each other, this makes it more aesthetically pleasing. The images with the background also follows the tone of the mast head starting a strong dark colour to a much brighter light colour. • Individually the pictures also contrast with themselves both of them have the opposite tone on them (Top e.g. His collar. Below e.g. his sunglasses) This also relates to the aesthetics of the masthead as well as the meaning of the masthead. The best of both worlds the dark and light colours represent this. • The background is very good at blending the text but also making the titles and subtitles stand out, the brick work is very effective because it’s a pattern and it makes the images stand out because they aren't part of the pattern.

Article • The article is bold for the brief summary as well as for the credits and sources. It includes a drop cap at the beginning. The rest of the text is a grey font • The whole typography follows the house style set by the masthead. • The summary is very bold and prominent and stands out from the background, the use of the white and orange is effective because it stands out and highlights the important information for people who are just skimming through the article, it also serves as something to grab your attention and bring you into reading the rest of the article the colour compliments this. • The text may blend into the background a bit but this is because it is there for people if they WANT to read it, if you don’t want to read it its not important, it also because it blends in and is slightly see-through it helps Make the images and background stand out. • The important information in the text seems to be capitalised so that we notice it and so that we don’t miss it.
