Architecture and construction can be discussed in three tiers: internal content, medium interface and external façade; In the middle of developing this work, the attempt of extending from anatomy and structuralism transform the former three tiers into anthropological terms: skin, tendon and muscle, skeleton; there terms have the organization of it own in our body, and there are four characters of composition have been categorized practicing in the work, which are:“array”,”joint”,”penetrate”and ”cladding”;even though there are distinguishably biological function and features of these systems, but there is strong connection between system to system with the four characters mentioned formerly, which presents the multiplex performance of human body motions. In this case, shoulder blade is selected as the concept development; it’s a skeleton board attaches on each backside of upper ribs, they pivot limitedly on the center of body, tangent to the ribs’curvature, moving horizontally and vertically to perform different gestures.
Relating the four characters mention formerly with architectural language, utilizing the interpretation of point, liner and surface in the base of three spatial dimensions. The array of ribs turns into the main structure of entirety. Geometrizing the skeleton curvature, re-illustrating the potential of skeleton’s simplicity and stiffness with strong and straight cut. Moreover, in order to reveal the simple and well-executed primitive texture of shoulder blade, the precisely manufactured recycled components were used, which were penetratingly fabricated with main structure. The cladding of façade strengthens the protective feature of skin and muscles. It has not been planar but adjusted freely in any dimensions, the form of the façade follows the main structure. The most important is the liner mechanical components as a network inspired by muscles and tendons, which drive every movement of human body perfectly. It also makes the entire frame work more tenacious and dynamic.

[STRUCTURALISM]
PROJECT 01.
The work theoretically combines different sciences form one to another. We transcend the reality what we can see, trying to understand in terms of the relationship to large and interactive systems or structures. We look into the cultural significant of mass system by analyzing phenomenon and connection behind terms, rebuilding and reacting a simplified truth of things that we observe. The reacted or rebuilt can be a prototype as the elements to composed complicated system and performativity formula. The prototype is flexible of creating systematically various architectural contexts. The effect and development of structuralism is deep and far that potentially presented in my works.

The human beings’body composition can be described as work of art created with the aesthetic of great nature. Formally, from the trichopore of small to the arms and legs of large that the curve proportion of every part on the body is irreplaceable. The body curve doesn’t change greatly all the time, however, the body curve will extend unlimitedly in perspective when the angle of vision changed. Spiritually, the observer will be lead into an illusion space filled with emptiness and truth. Suddenly, the function of the space has been brought behind and become an insignificantly small existence that can be defined by others freely.

Banyan Tree/ Concept Inspiration
The main purpose of this project is redesigning an old school building and a co-structure plaza, the building is named“ Center”,which located at the heart of Fengchia University in Taichung City,Taiwan R.OC. The center is a highly-functional education building complexing with bookstore,general education service, flexible classrooms for courses, media room, international conference hall and memorial gallery of school history. Years of utilizing, the rifted wall faces the leaking problem, however, there will be a academic green valley extended from the under constructed Gateway Park of Taichung City passing through the campus, and Renyen Center is adjacent to the valley as the symbol of Fengchia University landmarking in the following urban development of Taichung City. The requirement of this project is creating new entry of international conference halls, facade modification, users’circulation reorganizing and portraying the image of entry of campus corresponding the Taichung City urban development. There are great amount of Banyan avenues provide the shadow for passengers, students and other users in the school. The natural shelter as a landscape thrive the entire environment and lived with different ecologic system. Therefore, in the beginning of the proposal development, the biologic feature of banyan is transformed as a design concept to operate the performance of new plaza. The new landscape will perform like a winding banyan root flip the ground, folded and spun skin wrap the space and elevation of building, passing through the old building from south to opposite.

5 main open space & fields in FCU . Comparing with other 4, Renyen squre are less noticed and concerned as the location of school actvities holding beacuse of the sunlight exposure and old content. Renyen Square has been situating at the center of high density academic buildings. The proposal trying to reverse the present circumstance of square and takes the advatage of the location. The redsigned square will be more intimate to people.

Vehicle access limitedly in the campus,There 3 main parking lot of FCU, one of it located beneth the Renyen square. The situation of parking lots indicate the direction of schools members who will access to Renyen Buliding. There are amount of classrooms in Renyen center for general courses. As the result, the entry and access point for approaching Renyen center should be considered thoroughly. Different college student come from various direction. Direction of users access to the square will be the referring axis of flyover and passage of square.
Green is the living support of biology in campus. It provides the shadow for people and natural scenery. It is the habitat of creatures as well. The main access to academic buildings for students and teacher are planted with tall trees. However, there are no shelter at the open space and fields. When in day time, people will be highly exposured under the strong sunshine. A passage or corner with canopy is propsed in the project for keeping people from the harm of sunlight when stay outside the buildings. There will be less energy consumption .
[Public Court & Adjacency Relationship]
The buildings in FCU shape different size of public court. Some of them are large as a field or square. Some of them located in the middle of buildings providing college members a leisure corner. Renyen square adjacents to most of main court in the cmapus. However , the usage of it are less. People usually stay the public court near there college buildings instead of Renyen Center. Concept of connecting the public court can enhance the quality of school members’campus life cycle. Renyen square can be a transit court unitng other courts in campus.

In the scale of Naturism M, I was attempting to discuss how the movement of light can affect human living environment and make catalogue with it. The performance of shadow activate the vision experiencing when passengers get through and create the potential of holding different activities . The transformation of surface is emphasized in the project, there are three sections of modification extended from the existing space. First part, the plaza was cut partially sunk under the ground level turning into opened courtyards in order to weaken the heavy appearance.The opened courtyard will become a new entry of B1 floor , so that users can directly access to the international conferences halls. The second part, there is a flyover sweep through the air and penetrate into Renyen building, the folded surface cover the structure of flyover and flip down as the interior wall inside the building and turned into the canopy and slope of north main entry. When sunlight shine through the grille-type skin, a magnificent shadow corridor will be the most breath-taking experience of passengers. The third part, the folded skin extract from the main structure and wrap part of facade as a transition between new and old elevation. The folded facade is proposed covering with PV for generating sustainable energy for the school, the skin also coordinate with the sunlight direction when folded in different angle.

According to the humid atmosphere and strong daylight of Taiwan, it’s difficult for people staying in outdoor, however, it has been unhealthy of people staying at indoor in long-term and enhancing energy consumption, especially the schools are the places where highly requires electric power to provide comfortable education environment. The redesigned plaza and building bring up a spatial interactivity between users and surrounding environment. It also provides the comfortable resting corner for users in the reason of adapting to ventilation and daylight direction. From the prospect brought up from the beginning, the redesigned plaza and Renyen Center as a new entry creates the identity of the school and fulfill the vision of Gateway eco-park surrounded by more various biological chains.

Locating at Puli township in Nantou County of Taiwan as the project site where is the most important tourism spot of Nantou. The township has been surrounded by mountains, the terrain is composed of undulated hills and Puli basin, in which is also penetrated by two streams flowing through the township. Due to the rugged terrain and geographical adjacency, the township hadn’t been in highly industrial development and urbanized. As the result, the precious water and forest system was been protected form pollut -ing and the pure water provided agriculture amount of irrigation resources.
However, nothing lasts forever in recent year. The rise of visitor population and tourism development in upstream,which made the rivers polluted by trashes and depletion of soil. When in rain season, the polluted water will be flushed to downstream and bring series of damage in wider area. Because of locating at middle stream, the relationship between Puli township and river system was redefined when developing the project. The proposal take the township as a regulator, coordinating the pollution of ground water and stream gradually with intervention of architecture brought up with greenery of the place. The concept is established on the utilization of ecological system as a filter to detach to the environmental harm. The architecture is a short-term satisfaction of human, however, what has been looked up to is the positive influence of the environment in long-term.

The project is a exploitation of resort beneath the governmental tourism policy located beside Puli winery which has been an famous place for tourists. As the strategy mentioned above, in the hope of reversing traditional thought of destructively exploitation, the creation of pocket forest as the first hand strategy to regular the damaged environment in a sustainable way.
The proposal begins with the forest system creating. 60% of site area is planted with arbors along the site boundary, then, letting the accommodation spaces shuttle between trees. The trunks as the core support the space , and the crossed steel patands like tree shadow intersecting together join with trunk core to unite the space and trees. The reception hall like a bulged plate, which is hung on two arbors’trunks. The opened roof allows the trees’shadow passing through the glass and experiencing few daylight shines through the chink of tree-clowns into indoor, also looking into the beauty of moon night. In this project , I also cooperate the local agriculture activity as image of landscape located in the center of site. The main texture transformed from the trees’ shadow into the liner cutting curves, which turn into the ridges of between different beds in landscape. The beds are covered by water, planted with native breeds of flowers and paddy rice, which not only makes the accommodators had the opportunity to experience the vitality of great nature when relaxing, but also creates habitats for various kinds of micro-ecological system.

In this scale of M, I presented the naturism by discussing about entirety of environment, which includes the circulation of people and vehicles, the indexing of site boundary, complexing the planning of required programs and natural conditions. These are the factors inuence the appearance of the project. In this case , I tried to think about every potential small phenomena to bring better experience for visitors. Naturism M imply the scale of the entire project, however, the better discussion of S and XS scales are needed to get closer to the regionality of Puli Township.

Tokyo, Hongkong, Shanghai…etc, these are the international cities which were rose as fishing village at the beginning of social activities in centuries ago and developed along the water. However, it’s difficult for Taichung City,Taiwan to develop a 162800 sqm urban area that citizens are able to live along rivers’ system. Love River in Kaohsiung is the most successful project of river improvement that perfectly joined with the urban area in neighborhood. The perfect sewage system protects the residents live nearby from the crisis of flooding when rain season comes in every year. The great wasted water manipulating mechanisms of up and downstream erases the division between aquatic activities and land living style from stiff and thick wall. Fazhi River, as the project site, passing through the Xitung District of Taichung City,Taiwan, which has been surrounded with unwell developed urban area. When typhoon season comes, the water position has been forced to the edge causing the flooding damage in any of possibility. As the result, government and citizens has been keeping the residence distances away outside the flooding area from the disaster of potential crisis. However, according to the urban land expansion between east and west of Taichung City, the Fazhi River area is the best virgin land uniting the different district to another. As the result, how to coordinate the balance between river and land adjacent to it is the main issue of the project.
Fazhi River pass through the entire Xitung Distrcit and divide the are into east and west. Most of the east side has been occupied with tertiary sector of industry and residential area, which brings a convenient living circle but has been crowded. The west side highly developed with secondary industrial sectors, where performs a sparse urban texture but requires great improvement of living quality. Along the Fazhi River are fragmental field of agriculture , nevertheless, the productivity isn’t wealth because of the flooding in every year. By the difference of east and west industrial sectors, people will massively commuting to the west in the peak hour of morning, and return to east in the afternoon. If the area adjacent to Fazhi River can be release from the flooding crisis, there are great possibility to dilute the intensive population of east Xitung District, and improve the Fazhi River into the other urban natural opened space to regular the pressure of city. There will be a flood control system is proposed as crucial strategy of thriving Fazhi. River.

Concluding the analysis of aquatic features and environmental conditions, the sludge accumulating at the sea gate of down stream has been the main reason causing the water rise suddenly and sharply instead of the abundant rainfall. The upstream of Fazhi River located at Dadu Mt., which is a middle branch stream of Dachia River. There will be an amount of mud flushed form the upstream to down stream when rain season comes in every year, and integrates with Dachia River. The terrain of downstream mostly are flat and smooth, as the result the sludge will sediment at the sea gate. As the width of sea gate is getting narrow, the water of mid-stream rise suddenly because of the inactive flood evacuation mechanism. With the prospect of sustainable riverside village, the Fazhi River area is proposed being transformed into an urban pocket sediment storage dam to improve the sludge accumulation. It is almost 700 meter in length of Fazhi River situated in Xitung District, I extracted half of it as site of prototyping and studied the new mechanisms of smoothing river flow pressure and sand blocking distancing from riverside in 50,100,200 meter to balance the environmental requirement of river and land.

PROJECT 04.
The design focuses on a new prototype of buffer zone, which transfers the idea of defensive into adaptive. After all, the power of nature has been unpredictable no matter what extraordinarily stiff and tall construction we had built, such as the tsunami that swept through Japan disastrously in 2011. In the proposal, the under development land along the river will be divided into thousands of individual small islands, which are carried with different landscape elements, such as sand, pocket-forest,grass filed and even the riverside residence. Every corner of river has to take the biggest impact of flood when water flow is turning into other direction, as the result these will also become the inrush point of flood. Attractor system was used in these project that I set the inrush point as the attractor point, then scaling the little complexed islands in relative distance of 100 meter. When in relative distance of 100 meter to 200 meter that the complexed islands will combined with each other into continuous area where is suitable for residence from the damage of flooding.

River Flow. In the duration of 0 to 100 meter, the spoiler blocks are complexed with each island , which are in the purpose of slowing the water speed down by tangent direction of flow. Oppositely the spoiler blocks will block the sands and the other impurity. The islands are scaled in height descending in duration of 100 to flooding bed boundary behind 200 meter buffer line, and seasonal pools are created after the rain season that some of water will be blocked in the buffer area. The sludge will be sedimented at the bottom of pool, and turned into seasonal wetland after draining for ecology. People will start accepting and embracing the opened boundary Fazhi River with the intervention of sustainably systematic landscape when water position rising, that more aquatic actives have the potential to be brought over. Taichung City have more opportunity and space becoming better in long-term.

Architecture is the best language to respond our living experience in daily life. By the language of architecture, we reveal the communication with nature, we reveal the pattern of human activities, we reveal systems of social value, we reveal the attitude of how we should treat our mother earth. Nevertheless, there has been a village in Taiwan, which can’t voice for themselves suffering the industrial pollution for decades. The local government has been treating with a passive attitude on controlling the environmental damaging issue. Moreover, the village has been abounding with aquaculture, but the over water consuming had caused serious land subsidence. As the result, I have been rethinking how to repair the damaged environment by re-developing a new sustainable aquaculture township, and the potential possibility of moving local residents and industrial corporation.

The proposal funding on balancing living space of ecologies and human race, I start searching perfect environmental words and architectural words belong to this village which are able to comfort the great earth. “Settlements are like cloud, which are out of shape, and continuously change as time goes on. In long-term, the pattern of settlements are temporary , but with unlimited extensibility.”from { 100 ensenanzas} by Hiroshi Hara. Inspired by Mr. Hara, I found a solution , which is subject to proof by time. Even though the extraordinary climate have been unpredicted, the settlements can keep thriving at where it originally belongs to .
NATURISM XL. /SYMBI[OASIS] Indicated in the statistic report by Nasa, the sea level will rise 4.7 meter in 2050 by global warming. Taiwan as known as an island state located at Pacific Ocean Area, which is also in the crisis of national land decrement. The project is located at Mailiao Township in Yunlin County, Taiwan, where is the first to bear the brunt of crisis. According to the analysis of Mailiao, the land subsidence has been increasing the speed of national land decrement in the reason of private wells construction to keep the vigorousness of aquaculture leading to over ground water consumption. However, everything can be traced back to the inefficient water resource distribution and unsustainable usage. The township is composed of three individual industries landscapes, which is aquaculture farm, industrial island by sea reclamation and agriculture field. The proposal focuses on how to come up with a sustainable living space for local residents and further development of local industries transforming into a new industrial chains. Complexing the features of industries, soil consistency and aqua system, in conclusion a sustainable utilizing circulation of water has to be established bringing up with a new settlement pattern to face the crisis.

The establishment of systematic aqua circulation on a land subsidence township is the main strategy of new settlement. Looking into further analysis of geographical features, soil alkalization and seasonal flooding at depression area were brought up with land subsidence. Moreover, because descendent in height of terrain from seaside to inner land reversed the direction of industrial and agriculture wasted water evacuation, the streams and soil are polluted bring along with eutrophication. In order to activating the repairing procedure of damaged land as with the time goes on, I verticalize the aquaculture township which had been developed horizontally into industry towers and systemize the water regulation in the building. 70% of original township area are covered with aquaculture farm , if transferred , the sediment at the bottom of drained aquaculture farm will be reveal and turns into wetland habituated by waterfowl and amphibians. The wetland will decompose the wasted substances and salinity. In master planning, the original context of settlement is remained, the pathways connecting aquaculture farm to each other will be developed into the transportation system of between industry towers, which located at each intersection of traffic network.

PROJECT 05.
The industry tower is programmed with residential space for native people and potential foreign population, intelligently managed aquaculture modules and research facilities for governmental organizations and private corporation. From top to the bottom and inside to outside of tower, 20 a cycling self-circulation water system service the different functional spaces in the building. Decreasing the proportion of water utilization supplied from dam, the living system relies on the recycled water ,which is purified from wasted water of tower to 85~90% of purity water. There are mechanical rooms of physical, chemical and biological inserted around the wetland on the ground, and water will be released into the wetland dissolving oxygen to approach the purity. Fresh water will be transported to the industry tower in opposite side and return to the aquaculture system and residential system. When transporting fresh water, the wasted water evacuation process will be active ,and sustainably repeating the circulation. The redundant water will be reserved in the conservation modules and waits for the next purification process.

In order to balancing the living quality and temperature of aquatic animals, 10% of water has to be transferred every week. There are 60% of water as the most can be transferred into 85~90% of purity weekly by the application of the most advanced aquatic purification technology. As the result, I come up with a schedule that 10% of wasted waster will be transferred weekly and 60% of wasted water transferred after every 4 weeks. Besides the monthly aquaculture wasted water filtration, the purification system also support the wasted water of agriculture recycling process, which identifies the new settlement composed of industry towers as a environmental pollution purifier. With the assistance of gravity, the fresh water will auto-inject from the conservation modules into the systems as the evacuation process of wasted water is activated in the tower. In the duration of evacuation from top to bottom, the electricity will be generated from the elevation energy to supply great operation of entire tower.

PROJECT 05.
In early development of the towers, I studied the composition order of different programs with the operating model of spheres. The averaged radius of individual sphere is defined by the spatial quantitive analysis of programs. In order to attach the sphere to each other perfectly , and come up with light-weighting structure, the system named“weaire phelan”is proposed as the structure system, that the tangential curves between spheres to each other will be turned into the reinforced steel dispersing the weight of the building and deliver to the ground.

The weaire phelan style structural system will be transformed into columns in horizontal and vertical dimensions coordinating with elevator cores from 5th floor to 1st floor. The structure will be transformed back to weaire phelan system under the ground level. The geometric feature of weaire phelan system provide the users great flexible spaces. For instance, the breeding space of aquaculture has been developed limitedly in depth, which can be expanded into breeding modules in deep depth. The sunlight will come through the surface of tower shining on different depth of breeding module in three dimensions. For residence, the feature of double deck is brought up that every module will be a four-storeys accommodation space.

SYM-BI[OASIS] is a extended concept responding to the national spatial plan of Taiwan, which is in the attempt of encouraging people rethinking about the damaged environment and stoping the exploitation in order to give great mother earth the space and time reviving itself. Industry Tower presents the symbiosis, which considers the evolution of human’s living pattern in the process of land self-healing. According to the disproof of the proposal, the land reviving still can’t keep the national land from decrement. However, people still have the opportunity to evolute and backup to keep the local specialty and industries before existence falls apart.
PROJECT 05.
The wasted water evacuation of aquaculture occupies the largest proportion. In order to generate the most electricity from the elevation power, the aquaculture area are disposed at the upper floors of tower, residential modules including research center at the middle, and floors for parking lots at the lower floors, also complexed with packing and loading zone for aquatic products transporting. There are sea water breeding area disposed at underground floors, developing with the geographical superiority of seaside. The complexity systemize the breeding pattern into intensive management from youth stage to maturation stage of aquatic animals. The animals in youth stage module will be sent to middle stage module when growing to a fixed size, and so does the middle-ages to the maturation stages. Finally, the maturation stage aquatic animals will be caught to the harvest manipulating module by crane device and shipped to the packing floor. Control of transition gate and gravitational interaction make the transferring procedure consume less energy in the attempt of reducing environment damage.

PREFACE
The journey of architecture, the professional designing principles and skills has not been what we just had learned, the most precious are how we observe and analyze environment, events and beings around us. We resonate and communicate with those in the process of design. The environment, events, beings and sensation that flow through our bodies are defined as“Nature”in this thesis.
Extending from above, defining the underlying face of the“Nature”I mentioned in depth, for instance, the environment of“Nature”conclude the variety of sky, the essence of earth, the constructed spaces accompany with time-axis of history and biological systems existed with various patterns. As a result, the definition helps us develop a dialogue between design and nature. The events and beings are series of magnificent and unique performance, which are like doing a chemical experience. Every being that exist in this world which included human itself are the independently essential chemical elements, and the contact of them in daily life like a trigger to activate and arouse series of unpredictable chemical reaction. Some of them are violent and raging which bring out the best that is in them eventually. Some of them are moderate and submissive, which blend with the natural essence of each other at last. These actions are called “phenomenon” in either case. I would call myself as experimenters who enjoy arrange the sequence of different phenomenon. Sensation is the most breath taking and desirable occurs in the“Nature”. It’s an existence in the form of existence; air, light, water, wind…etc. these natural elements are the sources of signal, which provide beings with the sensational experiences. How to manage and configure them in the purpose of enhancing our feeling in acceptably physical interval and creating the most beautiful presentation, which are interesting planes of thinking. As it has been discussed that the Nature is defined and analyzed layer by layer, practically, it is like the overlay, from top to bottom, form light to heavy, it can be traced and deduced the world we’ve known. Gradually, I have become into“Naturism”, and my architectural works are like different kinds of scopes to discover the“Nature“ among those overlay. I reflect, I rethink, I represent the architectural structure and sequence in Nature. During the completion of my bachelor degree, different scales of architectural concept are developed that overall based on the nature itself as an origin. The selected 5 projects independently correspond the message of great nature and propose the solution for the emergency environmental crisis in the perspective of materials practicing, the light movement, living dialogue, generative context and water sustainable circulation.“Naturism”is a trope of my own, it’s not only a concept, but also an attitude.
