Welcome

~ We’ve had some lovely weather over the last week or so, let’s hope it continues for our delivery run in a weeks time. The front cover this month was taken mid June on the canal at Rowton Bridge. It’s of The President, one of the oldest working steam narrowboats on route to the Canal Festival in Chester. Steam Boat President was built in the Fellows, Morton Clayton Yard in 1909. Steamers usually worked ”fly” , that is day and night on the canal system, usually between London and the Midlands. Cargoes carried included tea, spices, wool, cheese, soap and sugar. Steamers could only carry 18 ton compared to 25 on horse drawn barges, but were powerful enough to tow several unpowered barges known as “butties”. Thank you to David Cummings, for the photo and the info about the narrowboat. Also thank you to Rachel Evans who snapped this shot on June 15 on Egg-bridge, Waverton facing towards Christleton and Chester and to Paul and Jo Sugarman who spotted this Cormorant on the canal. See you next month, Julie

The A41 is delivered free each month to homes and businesses in Littleton,Waverton, Rowton, Christleton, Aldford, Saighton along the A41 and distributed in Huxley and Tattenhall. Garden Garden

Summer in the

S

ummer for me means fresh vegetables from the garden, strawberries and herbaceous borders bursting with flowers.

Starting with the flowers, there are many to choose from and one of my favourites are Phlox paniculata varieties which can reach up to 1m tall so are great for the back of a border. Some are scented and one of my favourites for scent is Phlox paniculata Prospero with lilac heads of flowers. Phlox like a moist soil in sun or light shade and do poorly in free draining soils. Day lilies or Hemerocallis are good in July with long strap like leaves and heads of lily flowers both large and small lasting a day. The Stella varieties are usually buttercup yellow with multiple flowers heads on each stem. Good for moist soils.

Those gardeners with free draining soil can grow Coreopsis, a long flowering plant with bright or primrose yellow daisy flowers that go well with Achillea which also likes a free draining soil. Growing climbing roses and clematis together can give a stunning picture in summer. The rose and clematis in the photo are grown up a pyramid support. There are many varieties of clematis so go for any large flowered varieties such as The President or Nelly Moser. Net strawberries and put straw under the flowers and berries to keep them off the soil. Make sure they are well watered in hot weather to keep production going. Keep picking vegetables such as peas, beans and courgettes to keep more coming. If plants set seed, they stop producing more edible fruit so keep on picking! If you would like to visit gardens for ideas, I suggest you look out for gardens open under the National Gardens Scheme where all proceeds go to charities including Marie Cure Cancer Care and Macmillan Cancer Support. Cogshall Grange near Northwich is open on 13th July and is a contemporary garden designed by Tom Stuart-Smith in the landscape of a late Georgian house. A walled garden, herbaceous borders wild flower meadow and woodland. Delfan and Millheyes both at Little Neston are open on 20th July so why not visit both and have an afternoon in beautiful gardens.

DEFIBRILLATORS IN TATTENHALL The Tattenhall Community First Responders have recently installed their fourth defibrillator in Tattenhall at The Studio in Worley Court where they have been running British Heart Foundation Heartstart training since September 2012. During this time they have trained 181 people and raised over £1200. The money is then reinvested in the community with the purchase of the defibrillators which have been installed at Budgens, The Pheasant, Tattenhall Recreation Club at The Flacca, The Studio, Worley Court, with a fifth one due to go into The Barbour Institute. The Heartstart programme trains people in the following skills; assessing an unconscious patientperforming cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)dealing with choking, dealing with serious bleeding and helping someone who may be having a heart attack. The next courses are 12th July, 13th September and 8th November. Although the training is provided free of charge, any donations to Tattenhall Community First Responders are gratefully received and used to support the continuing work of this valuable community asset. Night Sky in July 2014 The Earth is furthest from the sun (which astronomers call “aphelion”) on July 4th at a distance of 94.5 million miles. Venus continues to be visible as a brilliant star in the early mornings low in the east-north-east sky. The waning crescent moon will be close by in the twilight dawn of the 24th. Mars can be seen in the south western sky, and sets before midnight at the end of the month. Still reasonably bright, and close to the bright star Spica, but fading as its distance from Earth increases from 92 to 111 million miles. The moon will be close on 5th July. Jupiter is not visible this month. Saturn is visible in the south-east as the sun sets, setting around midnight by the end of the month. It is about the same brightness as Mars, but further east, and can be found very close to the moon on the 7th July. Mercury is too faint to be seen this month. Geoff Chamberlain 12

BARROW HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY ROSE SHOW Barrow Horticultural Society Rose Show held in Barrow Village hall on Saturday 14 June was a great success with the room filled with roses, pot plants and herbaceous flowers. There were over 100 entries from 23 exhibitors in the 28 classes. The Floral Art classes were of a high standard and the children’s ‘Colourful Garden’ paintings were much admired. It was encouraging to have so many entries from the school. The judges commented on the excellent standard of the entries. There were many visitors during the afternoon and it was encouraging to see so many younger people enjoying the show and staying on for the auction of produce - as usual Fred Livesey was the very persuasive auctioneer. The Society’s President, Barbara Huddleston, very kindly presented the Trophies to Show winners. The judges were:Roses and Flowers - Rachael Jones; Floral Art - Sharon Nolan; Children’s Classes - Madeleine Maddox. Trophy winners were:Chris Jones Memorial Trophy for best exhibit of 6 HT Roses – Barbara Pym Cyril Bratt Trophy for most points in Rose Classes – David Crossley Joan Arnold Floral Art Trophy for best exhibit in Floral Art – Linda Deakin Rawlinson Trophy for winner of Children’s Floral Art Class - Niamh Deakin Forrest Trophy for Best in Show – Linda Deakin Steven Parry,Show Secretary,Barrow Horticultural Society

VENICE SIMPLON-ORIENT-EXPRESS From your Travel Counsellor TRACEY TWEEDLE

Probably the most famous of trains, the Venice Simplon-Orient Express made its maiden journey from Paris to Istanbul in 1883 and since then has been synonymous with luxury travel. Throughout its history, it has been the luxurious transport of aristocrats, royalty, spies, film stars and writers, as well as, of course the famous Hercule Poirot. There is no more memorable an experience than seeing the train for the first time. You may be at London's Victoria Station, boarding the umber and cream carriages of the British Pullman or at Calais or Venice getting your first glimpse of the blue and gold carriages of the Continental Wagons-Lit. This memory will last a lifetime. On boarding the original Orient-Express carriages, you step back into a more congenial and elegant era. The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express is distinctive down to the smallest detail. The train is composed of the original 1920s and 30s carriages, painstakingly and lovingly restored to their original elegance and grandeur. Boasting exquisite marquetry panels and designs by artists of the art deco movement. The service is perfectly in keeping with the setting. Once your journey starts, settle into your private cabin and watch Europe's finest scenery gliding by. Whilst on board, you will have a personal steward, who will provide attentive, yet discreet service. Your meals on board will be unforgettable. Visit the Bar Car, famous for its delicious cocktails and welcoming atmosphere it is the heart of the train. Dressing for the occasion is all part of the experience. The three dining cars offer softly muted lighting which enhances the mood while fine linen, French silverware and heavy crystal invite you to prepare for a meal to remember. Meals on board are an unforgettable delight. All dishes are freshly prepared on board by French chefs, with the finest supplies taken on board during the train's journey. Travelling in private compartments, passengers are attended by Cabin Stewards throughout the journey, and are assured of attentive yet discreet service. Each cabin has its own original washbasin cabinet with hot and cold water, and at night-time becomes a comfortable bedroom, complete with soft towels and crisp linen. The train now visits some of Europe's most famous destinations. The traditional route between London, Paris and Venice (or vice versa) is now complimented by departures from Venice to the exciting cities of Vienna, Prague, Budapest and Istanbul. Enjoy the uncompromising luxury of the authentic period carriages, and the finest quality of service, amid some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe on board the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. A variety of journeys is available to exciting cities, such as Venice, Vienna, Prague and Istanbul. Whatever your destination, you can be sure of superb service, a feast of delicious menus and perhaps, a nostalgic reminder of a time when the journey was as important, if not more so, than the destination.

I

Who? or Whom?

haven’t quite recovered yet from being found out about just who was sleeping on Him and Her-indoors bed. And, I don’t think Sam has forgiven me either for letting him take the blame for all these years. I’ve even let him nick a few of my biscuits to try to make things up to him. Thing is, I think he’s milking it now, so that will be the end of that kindness from me. I was having my morning doze the other day when I heard Herindoors say something like, ‘just look at the size of its head, think he’s called Max.’ Naturally, being an inquisitive dog (some would say nosey) I perked up. What on earth were they talking about? Then I got a bit confused. It went something like this: “He’s young to be walking.” “He’s a big lad as well, considering his mum and his dad are both just fairly normal size.” By now, as I said I was confused. Whatever was it they were talking about? A big head? Young to be walking? Big considering?

The latest addition to our tribe ...

Considering what? Now I’ve heard many a seemingly confused conversation in our house before and when the kids are here it’s impossible to keep up, so no wonder I get things mixed up. So just what were Him–indoors and Her-indoors going on about? But I did notice them looking at some pictures so.......I’ll leave you to sort out who was talking about what or should that be whom? Love Polly xxx

SUZUKI SX4 S-CROSS ‘SZ5’ £23,549 by David Parry-Jones IN BRIEF: MODEL: Suzuki SX4 S-Cross ENGINE: 1.6 DDiS 16v diesel PRICE: £23,549 (starts £14,999) POWER: 118bhp@3,750rpm

TORQUE: 320Nm@2,000rpm EMISSIONS: 114g/km 0-62: In 13.0 seconds FUEL: 64.2 mpg average OUT OF 100: 89.

Suzuki’s exciting and sporty SX4 S-Cross makes a striking side on view - with a lowering roofline contrasting against a rising waistline!

By DAVID PARRY-JONES YOU should always listen to a company’s car delivery driver. We hacks only see some models once in a blue moon while the driver is with them daily. So it was a good recommendation to try the still relatively new Suzuki SX4, in S-Cross version, because it’s a little gem with so much going for it. BIKES TO CARS Suzuki was motor cycles only till 60 years ago and that was a good move as last year it sold 2.7m cars worldwide which was an encouraging three per cent up on last year. In the UK alone, up to April, we bought 34,650 of them with the Alto taking top sales spot from the gentle Swift’ NOW A CROSSOVER In October last year SX4 S-Cross ‘crossover’ entered the scene boasting class leading 110g/km CO2 emissions and an impressive fuel average of 64.2mpg. It’s available in four confusingly named models of SZ3, SZ4, SZ-T and range topping SZ5 which I had on test. GREEN AND MEAN At just the right size and sporty, it is very taut and predictable and yet oh so economic. Ease off the right foot a little and your 1.6 DDiS diesel unit will even give you 73mpg out of it, on a longer run. THIRD FOR POWER The 0-62 figure of 13.0 seconds belies that after 2,000rpm you are rapidly zipping up the speedo towards its top speed of 108mph. So ensure you squeeze the best out of its third gear as sixth, fifth - and even fourth - are really there for motorway economy. NEATLY KITTED The £23,549 SZ5 trim test car came boasting of white stitching on black leather upholstery, with contrasting black perforated panels. A seven-inch centre screen gave radio and SatNav details with the car’s climate control switches sitting below. CAR WITH ‘ALL GRIP’ The SX4’s great roadholding is due to its ‘all grip’ four-wheel-drive which is switchable for snow and other hazards. Coupled to heavenly suspension, on a car designed with a rear sloping roof but rising waistline, you get an attractive package. DOUBLE TOPS The four doors plus hatch, on the SX4, look so natural side on, as does the rear privacy glass. And if that doesn’t impress you, there is the world’s first ‘double opening’, panoramic sunroof, protected inside by a lengthy, electrically controlled blind. AND EVEN A DAB If you want flexibility, pop the rear seats forward and the 430-litres of luggage space, in this 4.3m car, nearly doubles to 875-litres. DAB radio and the SatNav both come as standard proving that Suzuki is staying ahead in the techno race, and the radio quality, with its USB and ‘aux’ inputs, is particularly impressive. IT’S ALL INCLUDED Also standard on my S-Cross were good alloys, power steering, remote locking, stability control, auto lights and auto wipers, electric mirrors and windows, cruise control on the steering wheel, along with other controls and bluetooth for your legal phone link. STURDY LITTLE 4WD The car was an altogether sturdy 4x4 in compact form and particularly well built and well specced. It comes with a three year or 60,000 warranty and needs servicing only every 12,500 miles. ANY BAD POINTS? Although a tad pricey, it is well kitted out for the money, but I did have occasional bother trying to enter second and third gear, otherwise S-Cross would have scored 93 out of 100. Remember this is a sporty car that appeals both to 30 somethings as well as those retirees still harbouring a passion for performance.

Somerville’s pledge to give something back to the local community

Richard Wheeler, Director of Somerville’s says “We want our business to stand out and we have based our philosophy around two key objectives; one of which is to

As parents of a severely disabled daughter Richard and Annie understand the value of support provided by local charities and when they established Somerville’s Estate Agents they decided to give something back to the local community. “Since our daughter Ellie was born three years ago, we have had a lot of help from local charities such as Stick ‘n’ Step and Claire House. The dedication and commitment of the people

in these organisations has been amazing and they have given us hope during our darkest moments. It feels so good to be giving something back!” says Annie. To find out more about the charities that Somerville’s Estate Agents support, go to their website somervillesestateagents. co.uk. According to a recent survey carried out by Agents Giving, estate agents in the UK raised over £13million for good causes in 2013. Maybe they’re not such a bad bunch of people after all! Summertime is that time of year for enjoying the sun, spending time outdoors, relaxation and holidays and this year’s summer is looking to be warmer than any before. st

Although the British summertime does not official start until the 21 of June, our nation has had record high temperatures in May and weeks of sunshine across the beginning of June. And (if forecasts are to believed) the blazing hot early summer is set to hold out for nearly 100 days with above-average temperatures forecast for each of the next three months. Throughout the year we all lead busy lives, meaning it is more important than ever to take some time out and relax. Out of all the seasons, summer is the one that allows us to make the most of the outdoors, whether it is to relax in the garden reading your favourite novel or topping up your tan at the beach. But not all of us Brits just enjoy relaxing in the heat, a majority of us see the summer season as a time to go on walking weekends, enjoy festivals, start up an outdoor hobby, such as football, horse-riding, or rowing. Others enjoy the warm weather to take their dogs on longer walks and keep themselves active. Many of us also see summer as the time to go on a holiday with family, friends or a partner to have a solid week or so enjoying time away from the office in an idyllic place to suit them. According to the most recent government statistics, UK residents made 56.5 million visits abroad last year and the top destinations we are choosing this year are, Spain, France, Greece, America, Italy, Turkey, Egypt, Croatia and Thailand. It appears we are keen to travel all over and explore other cultures and destinations. Another large part of the summer is the menu. In Britain we are open to a diversity of different types of summertime meals, from a Great British BBQ and fish and chips to enjoying Greek salads and Spanish Tapas. Whatever your desired choice of food is, the warm weather gives you the perfect chance to eat outside and explore new meals. Although summer has only just begun, time passes too quickly when you are enjoying yourself, so make the most out of the most exciting season of the year!

Wildlife Watch, Swallows, Swifts and Martins ;

une and July is the most active time in the breeding season for spotting these fast moving birds. In the Chester area sand martins are usually the first to arrive from their wintering sites in Africa, closely followed by swallows house martins and swifts. Sadly sand martins are now very scarce, although efforts are being made to encourage them with an artificial nest site at the RSPB Burton Meres Reserve. They have sandy brown upper wing colour with white underparts and short tail. Next to arrive from their wintering grounds in South Africa are swallows, which are probably still the most numerous of this group of migrants. They have long angled wings and deeply forked tails, which helps to identify them. Their upper parts are a dark metallic like blue, with a red face and throat. They also fly very fast, and like house martins swoop low over water to catch insects. Good places to see this behaviour include the Shropshire Union Canal and Christleton Pit. Both swallows and house martins build nests on houses, usually under the eaves, and these are painstakingly built using tiny globules of mud found nearby. The swallows nest is flatter and simpler than the house martins, and usually can be found on ledges, on which they build their open shallow capped nest.

The house martins nest however is gourd shape, with a narrow half open entrance and is usually well secured to the underside of eaves. House martins also have shorter sturdier bodies than a swallow, with jet black upper parts and white underside. They also have shorter shallow forked tails and nest in colonial groups, but don’t share the same sites as swallows and swifts. The faster, sleeker, scimitar winged swifts have a very different nesting technique, and as well as being the latest to arrive, usually in early May, build inside the eaves of buildings. They are bigger than swallows and martins, and have an almost all black colouring with a white chin. They can be heard “screeching” in the skies above their nests sites, often doing so in family groups. They are the most aerial of these species, and land only to incubate eggs and feed young. They also have specialist needs in terms of the roofs they build in, and as the type of roofs they prefer are modernised with energy saving in mind, fewer and fewer nest sites are available to them. Swifts leave their nest sites at the beginning of August, whilst most swallows and martins wait until they gather into bigger groups, and don’t leave this area until mid-end of September. Later broods are often still here in late October and have an even more hazardous journey to their wintering sites in Africa.

thomas talk THOMAS PROPERTY GROUP - EXPERIENCES SHARED The Charity We recently had a client who had sold through us in Great Barrow. They were moving abroad and were only due back in the country the day before completion. The seller made sure everything was ready for his buyer and left his last two bin bags outside the property whilst he finished the cleaning. One of these bags contained the remainder of his clothes and the other bag full of his mother’s old clothes which were being collected with some furniture from a local charity. When visiting the office to drop off the keys for the new owner, Mr. X went into his bag to get his coat out due to the sudden rain. Only instead of pulling out his raincoat, he held a pair of large pink undergarments instead!!! It certainly brightened up everyone’s day and Rachel Thomas took the seller to the Charity shop (as he had sold his car due to moving abroad) to exchange bags quickly! Luckily the charity also saw the funny side!

The Alarm One of our most memorable sales was in Great Boughton. On completion day we gave the new owner all the keys and alarm for his new home. Unfortunately, she misplaced these details in the move and thought she could remember the code and so proceeded to type it in. Suddenly there was a sharp loud noise ringing out, yes, that’s right, the alarm had gone off. Although this was no ordinary alarm as it was connected to the police! Within 5 minutes a police car and 2 officers arrived at the scene. We received a call from a flustered Mrs. P who explained what had happened and needed us to speak to the police to confirm she was in fact the new owner and not a burglar as expected. Luckily after going through the details and verifying them whilst giving them the alarm code again to turn it off, Mrs. P was able to then move in and enjoy her new home. Popping in 2 months later with some lovely flowers for us and a good laugh about her first day adventure. The Cat Cats are well known for not settling sometimes into their new homes. Many have been reported across the country as making their way back to their original house. Just a few months ago we completed on a property in Christleton where the sellers moved to Waverton. Within their first week their cat had gone missing. Bringing in missing posters for us and local shops to put up in our windows, one of our team had the great idea of calling the new owners to see if the cat had returned to his previous home. Luckily the new owners had been visited by the cat for 3 consecutive days! Thinking it was a stray they had been feeding the little feline. Later that day both cat and owners were re-united and lived happily ever after. Well Done THOMAS PROPERTY TEAM.

Open Farm Sunday ~ took place on a gloriously sunny 8th June and was a huge success. Over 1000 people turned up to see the farm and mill and visit our local produce fair. Thank you to all who came and all who helped. Next year it takes place on 7th June and there are plans to make the annual event even better. Our local produce fair is every Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a great range of locally made food and locally grown plants on offer, so please do include it in your weekly shopping plans. If you missed Open Farm Sunday you can book a free farm tour for 6 or more persons, or come on Heritage Open Days 11th - 14th September when farm and mill tours will take place each day. Cattle Moos ~ Our entire herd of Red Poll cattle was again tested for Bovine Tuberculosis at the end of May over two days and with the help of eight people. To everyone’s great relief the tests were all clear, and this means that movement restrictions have been lifted and animals can be sold. A few cows remain to calve, but the animals have all had their vaccinations and the bulls will be going out with the cows at the beginning of July. The aim is that cows calve in the Spring and outside to reduce the risk of infection and disease and with the boost of the fresh grass at that time of the year. You can see most of the Red Polls enjoying their Summer from the footpath network around the farm. Crops ~ The end of May was wetter than we had hoped, but the first cut of grass for silage (Winter feed for the cattle) is safely in the clamp. For the first year for a while the barley actually looks like a barley crop at this stage, visible in fields next to The Street and Picton Lane, and the pollen & nectar and wild bird seed crops at Plemstall and on Picton Lane are growing well although later than usual. Perhaps not thought of as a crop, the poplar plantations which amount to twenty acres are currently being harvested by The Poplar Tree Company and the wood is being to Herefordshire to be used as kiln dried firewood. Two thirds of the trees are taken , allowing the remainder space to grow. The machine used cuts, trims and chops into lengths an entire tree in under a minute. Treemendous! Frackfreemickletrafford ~ If you are opposed to the threat of fracking in Mickle Trafford and the surrounding area and would like to do something about it, please come to any of the meetings being held here at The Grange Farm at 7:30 p.m. on alternate Mondays. They are be over by 9:00 p.m., and all you need to bring are your ideas and enthusiasm. There is lots of information about fracking on the Frack Free Mickle Trafford page on Facebook or on Twitter @redpollbeef. For more information about anything to do with the farm please email huw.rowlands145@btinternet.com or call 07950 963526. If you like Twitter please follow @redpollbeef for a daily dose of cattle and controversy. 48

A final thought … the success of “soccer” At the time of writing, we’re still not through the first round of group games in the World Cup, so no way yet, without a crystal football, of knowing which teams will still be taking part as your magazine drops on your doormat, with the Quarter Finals about to get underway. What we do know already though is that this tournament, despite some of the anti-FIFA protests in Brazil, is shaping up to be a huge viewing (and therefore commercial) success. If the constantly repeated television pictures of Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer have the same impact on future tourism levels as those of the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge did, post Olympics, then it might just be that the money invested in stadiums will prove a better long term decision than the protestors believe. The television audiences for World Cups continue to grow, often eclipsing the multi-sport Olympics. Albeit judged against a pretty low bar (the figures include anybody who’s watched at least part of one game), the viewing numbers are still startling; 2.9 billion for Germany 2006, growing to 3.2b by South Africa 2010, and for Brazil it’s expected to reach 3.6b. To put that into context we’re talking virtually 50% of the whole world population! Brazil has some inbuilt advantages that will help it to achieve this level of popularity; 

Firstly, audiences are always at their strongest within the “home nation” and with 213 million Brazilians to help contribute (it’s the fifth largest country by population) that’s not a bad start,

Secondly, the timing of kick-offs in Brazil plays particularly well for the preferred evening viewing slots for football fans in the sport’s key traditional hotspots of Europe and Africa, and

Finally, it’s just easier to watch these days. You no longer need to be sitting in front of a television to get your football fix. This will be the first World Cup where a significant part of the audience will be watching matches via live streaming on a mobile device!

However, that final bullet really shouldn’t be headed up “finally”. There is one other, very surprising, factor which is contributing to the sport’s growing popularity, and if it becomes a trend (and not just a spike) then the world domination of football (or should we say soccer!) is about to ratchet up yet another notch. The biggest “army” of visiting football fans in Brazil will not be English or German, and it won’t be from the neighbouring South American nations. There will be 40,000 USA “soccer” supporters following their team to Brazil, despite little chance of success (unless I’m proved badly wrong!). However, that may soon change, as the game finally seems to have captured the attention of American sports fans; 

A Washington Times survey found over a third of Americans intend to watch the World Cup,

Average stadium attendances for Major League soccer are now higher than those for NBA basketball, and, most importantly,

A recent poll of the nation’s 12-17 year olds found soccer has now overtaken ice-hockey in popularity, and drawn level with baseball, if that continues the growth will be unstoppable.

A final thought … If the USA are really going to take over football (although I still won’t call it soccer!), then maybe England’s best chance of finally achieving another global sporting triumph may come through a bit of lateral thinking. If we just switch our attention to Baseball, then maybe we can attempt to wrest away a World Series title, which is only really contested by one country anyway!

THOMAS PROPERTY GROUP ARE A FAMILY RUN BUSINESS WITH TWO COMBINE RURAL & CITY OFFICES WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FRANSCHISES COMPARED TO OUR FAMILY BUSINESS. UNDERSTANDING FRANCHISES We find that any customers that have gone onto the market with estate agents with several offices have been mislead and are extremely unhappy with the probability of their service! Specifically Premier clients have been led to believe that their property will be advertised across the country in that agents office including London locations. The true reality is that as a franchise none of their offices are connected or combined. After doing some research one client (who moved to sell through us) called his Chester agent’s other offices to check his property was being advertised. Not only did he find out that it wasn’t being displayed or advertised but that some of the offices and agents hadn’t even heard of Chester or know they had a franchised office there. We recommend anyone considering using a franchised agent in Chester or Wales to do the same checks before signing up with them. As a family run company, THOMAS PROPERTY GROUP advertises all their properties for sale and let including Premier in both our City & Rural Offices. This enables any customers entering either of our offices to see our whole property profile and they are provided with the same friendly and helpful service in both showrooms. We are one of the few agents to offer this, as well as advertising in the Top 3 pages of The Chronicle permanently and a Personal Agent to keep YOU up to date throughout the whole process with weekly calls. Best Wishes Your Local Agent
