ADELAIDE MOTORSPORT FESTIVAL APPROACHING

The festival is shaping up to be a record breaker

The Adelaide Motorsport Festival returns to Victoria Park on March 25 and 26, 2023, with a record number of categories and something for everyone. With competitive categories in the Victoria Park Sprint, plus unorthodox, unusual and unique demonstration sessions, there’s something to surprise and delight every car lover.

Held on the Victoria Park section of the Adelaide Street Circuit, the action at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival will be fast, furious and frequently changing, with a different category of vehicles on track every 10 to 15 minutes, including more open-wheelers headlined by classic Formula One cars, V8 Supercars alongside Heritage Touring Cars, a special Invitational category alongside Demonstration sessions, a Shootout for the fastest cars and more.

Tipo F1 is a new category to the 2023 Adelaide Motorsport Festival. Running alongside the Formula

One and Open-Wheeler classes, Tipo F1 will feature the likes of S5000, Formula 5000, Formula 3000, Formula Renault, Champ Car/IndyCar, older model Formula One cars, single-seat track cars and more. There’s also the addition of a V8 Supercars class, adding a category for newer model Ford Falcons, Holden Commodores and other post-Project Blueprint V8 Supercars alongside the Heritage Touring Cars (Group C and A), 5-Litre Touring Cars (Group 3A) and Classics (1950s to 1970s).

An Invitational class will feature special invited cars from various categories and manufacturers, while the Demonstration class will include cars/makes celebrating key anniversaries or special attendees. As part of the action, two 1989 Brabham BT58s, as driven by Martin Brundle and Stefano Modena during the 1989 Formula 1 season, will be on track at the 2023 Adelaide Motorsport Festival, as will the 1988 Arrows A10B Megatron that Eddie Cheever raced during the 1988 Formula 1 season.

The 2023 Adelaide Motorsport Festival will celebrate the history of the Brabham team founded by Australian legend Sir Jack Brabham; commemorating the team’s 30-year history in Formula 1 30 years since its closure and on the 40th anniversary of its last Formula 1 drivers’ championship win (Nelson Piquet in 1983).

Also on-hand will be a unique Formula 1 threeseater to give fans a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience a grand prix car at the 2023 Adelaide Motorsport Festival.

The Arrows A21 is powered by a 720-horsepower 3.5-litre Hart V10, the same engine as the Arrows A21 Formula 1 car it’s based on. The engine revs to 15,000 RPM with a top speed of 330km/h and the two passengers sit side-by-side behind the driver. With the Arrows A21 featuring a comparable aerodynamic, engine and brake package to the Formula 1 car, it’s the closest experience fans can get to driving a grand prix car.

Other impressive cars on-track will include a legendary Porsche 962C Group C sportscar which was raced at the Le Mans 24 Hours and was the dominant car of the Group C era of sportscar racing; the Rodin FZED, and the Hyundai Kona EV Rally Car of New Zealand World Rally Champion Hayden Paddon, driven by Hayden himself.
