Capricorn Rising Stars nominations open

The Capricorn Rising Stars Apprentice of the Year program is an opportunity for Capricorn Members to acknowledge apprentices for their ongoing effort and hard work. Recognising and rewarding apprentices for the value they bring to the workshop will keep them engaged and excited for the promising careers ahead of them. The award recognises apprentices with a passion for automotive, a positive can-do attitude, and a strong commitment to forging a long career as a repairer. This unique judging criteria means Members can recognise their star apprentices as they continue to develop their technical proficiency. To create a level field for all apprentices, Capricorn Rising Stars focuses on initiative, the eagerness to learn and a commitment to industry in all types of workshops and disciplines; from panel and fabrication to auto electrical, general mechanical, heavy diesel and more. I would encourage all Members to nominate their apprentices as a Capricorn Rising Star. Not only does this present a good opportunity to embed a positive team culture; recognising apprentices is an important way to help the industry to attract the best talent and retain future leaders. More than $20,000 in cash and prizes is up for grabs to be shared amongst the overall winner, the five finalists and the workshops who nominated them. Every apprentice nominated will benefit by receiving a certificate sent to their workshop. We send a big thanks to long-term program sponsors Castrol, Repco and the Workshop Whisperer, who have demonstrated their commitment to the future of the automotive industry by donating these fantastic prizes. To nominate your star apprentices or to find more information, including competition terms and conditions, visit cap.coop/stars. Entries close 30 April 2022. Yours in cooperation, David Fraser Group CEO – Capricorn Society Ltd For more on Capricorn Society membership, visit www.capricorn.coop David Fraser Group CEO, Capricorn Society Ltd

CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE

The AAAExpo will celebrate the aftermarket’s innovators at two exciting events

The Australian Auto Aftermarket Awards, as part of the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Expo (AAAExpo), recognise innovation and outstanding contribution to the development of the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Industry. These awards acknowledge organisations and individuals, within the industry, who set the benchmark for excellence across a wide variety of marketing, manufacturing, products and service award categories. Fostering significant contribution to innovation within the industry is part of the AAAA’s commitment to promoting a sustainable future for the automotive parts, accessories, tools and equipment industry in Australia. Winners of these prestigious awards represent the elite group of organisations and individuals. Two exciting celebratory events

Held on the 7th of April 2022 at Crown Palladium in Melbourne, the presentation of the award winners will take place over two events. The Australian Auto Aftermarket Innovation Awards will be presented on the morning of the 7th of April at the Innovation Awards Breakfast sponsored by RYCO Group, with the Australian Auto Aftermarket Excellence Awards and Best Stand Awards presented at the Excellence Awards Banquet – sponsored by Burson Auto Parts – that evening. With over 1000 industry representatives attending the combined events, these award presentations will be the pinnacle of the 2022 Australian Auto Aftermarket Expo. Ticket sales have now been released for these two high profile events and given that it has been three years since they were last held, they are expected to sell out quickly. Tickets are allocated on a ‘first in’ basis, so those who want to attend are encouraged to book their tickets now to avoid disappointment. EXPO EXHIBITOR TOOLS AND ACCOMMODATION DEALS

The 2022 Australian Auto Aftermarket and Collison Repair Expo is now a couple of months away

As the AAAExpo nears, the AAAA has released a range of communication tools exhibitors can use across email, websites, online publications, social media, video and print to let their customers know they will be at the show. To access these resources, visit the ‘exhibitor zone’ of www.autoaftermarketexpo.com.au or www.collisionrepair.com.au and click on ‘marketing tools.’ Now is also the time to secure accommodation for the 7-9 April 2022 event. Adding to the need to book your accommodation fast is the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix, which is currently scheduled to take place across the same weekend. This is an exciting development, because more visitors from the automotive trade will be drawn to Melbourne to attend these two great events in one weekend. Fortunately, the AAAA says it has made it easier for exhibitors and sponsors by negotiating extremely competitive pricing for a number of hotels. To take advantage of the offers and save time and effort looking into accommodation yourself, go to the ‘registration’ menu of the show websites for further details.
