Craig Baills has over thirty years of experience and success in the automotive industry, as both a technician and business owner.
As a director with the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association (AAAA), MTAQ Committee member and owner of two workshops – Highfield Mechanical and Hi-Mech Auto Solutions Craig has a broad understanding of the automotive industry and the challenges and opportunities facing the aftermarket. From workshop management, developing key customer relationships and aftermarket support, Craig has a track record of success implementing processes that improve efficiency, reduce costs and ultimately increase revenues in line with company objectives. Michael Carnemolla is a qualified vehicle technician with 28 years of experience in the automotive industry.
In 2013, he started his own business at 313 Automotive, in a brand-new purpose-built workshop in Russell Lea. The business has grown during this time, now employing 8 full time staff.

Stuart is CEO of the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association (AAAA), which represents 4,100 member businesses and the entire automotive aftermarket, an industry which contributes $25B annually to the economy. Under Stuart’s leadership, the AAAA has championed many initiatives, services and regulatory reforms; improving the sustainability and growth of the industry.
Gabrielle Clift - Race Car Mechanic, Triple Eight Race Engineering (Capricorn Rising Star 2020)
Gabrielle is a qualified light vehicle technician at Highfields Mechanical, near Toowoomba in Queensland. Growing up, she helped her dad with mechanical work on his truck, which is where her passion for vehicles began. During her apprenticeship, she won awards for her passion for her work, earning her widespread recognition within the industry as a dedicated apprentice, and now, fully qualified technician.
Charlie Commins - Chief Operating Officer, JAX Tyres & Auto
Charlie Commins is the Chief Operating Officer at JAX Tyres & Auto. He has been a senior manager, CEO and Owner of a number of companies through his career. His marketing journey started by surprise in the mid 1990’s when a Marketing team became part of a bigger role he took on. Knowing little about Marketing beyond
the “4P’s”, he completed a Business Masters (focussed on Strategy & Marketing) in the early 2000’s. This resulted in him being even less sure about marketing than when he started but….. It made him very clear about the importance of customer centric strategy and building real engagement with the people that pay our invoices. For the past 25 years he has been at the “bleeding edge” of the e-commerce, digital marketing, brand and social media revolutions in marketing. Despite these fundamental shifts his three marketing mantras has remained the same: “Our next best customer is the one we have served well”, “Build the Brand, Build our Business” and “BS Free is Best”.
From the age of 12 he has been a car, 4WD and off-road tragic. Working for JAX offers him the opportunity to be in a world he loves. Building off-roaders and restoring old rust buckets (and then breaking them) continues to keep him amused.
Anthony Costello - Owner, Anthony Costello Automotive
Anthony has owned and operated Anthony Costello Automotive in the Canberra region for 29 years.
The business he has built from the ground up services and repairs over 150 cars a week with a team of 22 staff. Anthony over the years through trial and error has developed great systems to effectively attract, maintain and motivate technicians in his business.
Adele Coswello - Chief Customer Officer, mycar Tyre & Auto
Adele Coswello is the Chief Customer Officer of mycar Tyre & Auto. She is passionate about bringing subject matter experts from diverse backgrounds together to build successful transformation programs that deliver a better outcome for the customer. Responsible for analysing and enhancing every customer touchpoint mycar has across its network of more than 270 Australian stores and online, Adele has led the implementation of mycar’s Care Beyond the Care transformation, launched when mycar changed its name from Kmart Tyre and Auto Service in 2018.
Having previously worked with well-known and established brands including Bunnings Warehouse, Wesfarmers, EMI Group, Credit Suisse and Deloitte, Adele centred her role as Chief Customer Officer of mycar in 2020 after serving as Chief Financial Officer of the group since its inception in 2018.
Adele has a unique skill set, being an expert in bringing diverse teams across specialties including Marketing, Merchandise, Customer Care, Finance and Business Development together to deliver exceptional business evolution programs.

Emma Dalley - Principal Lawyer, Industry Legal Group
Emma is the Principal Lawyer and Director of Industry Legal Group Pty Ltd (ILG) which delivers the AAAA Employer Assist member service in partnership with the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association. Emma is admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of Queensland and has a dual degree in Business Management and Law. Emma is an experienced employment lawyer with a special knowledge and understanding of the industry having provided workplace relations advice and support to the Automotive Aftermarket industry for more than 7 years.
David Fraser - Group CEO, Capricorn Society
David is the Group CEO of Capricorn and has 35+ years’ experience in the automotive aftermarket.
Prior to joining Capricorn in 2006 David held several senior sales, marketing and general management roles for organisations with responsibilities both in Australia and globally.
He is currently a director of the Business Council of Co-op’s & Mutuals (the Apex body for CME’s in Australia), WA Co-op Federation, WA Motor Industry Foundation, and previously the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association. David’s qualifications include MBA, GAICD, FAICD, FAIM, A FIN, FGIA.

Joanne has worked in the automotive industry for 15 years. Overseeing

Paul Jreige is the Chief Technology & Risk Officer at GUD Holdings (GUD), a leading automotive aftermarket parts supplier and water products supplier.

With over 17 marketing effectiveness awards to her name, Chantelle Lane is a marketing professional who knows how to get results.
With a background in advertising, product innovation, corporate sales and marketing leadership, her career expands over several industries including banking, healthcare, finance, retail, eCommerce and most recently automotive and commercial aftermarket as the General Manager Marketing of BAPCOR Limited.
Chantelle worked her way from entry-level agency positions to building and leading high-performing marketing functions for ASX listed companies. Peter Leondis - Owner, Leondis Automotive & Director at The Garage Network
Peter is the founder and Managing Director of Leondis Automotive, a company boasting unique modern automotive workshops.
Realising the impact software can have on modern business, Peter invested in developing software solutions where the birth of its new business Auto Bookings Online was achieved.
Peter is also a founding Director of The Garage Network, an industry specific group enabling Peter to share his passion and knowledge to members, be an active business coach, and mentor.
Chris Mallon - General Manager Recycling Operations, ACM Parts
Chris has been in the automotive recycling industry for two decades starting out as a mechanic before moving into dismantling and parts interpreting before taking a position at ACM Parts six years ago where he now heads up Recycling Operations for the business.

With over fifteen of experience in the recruitment, migration and automotive industry, Fred has established himself as a leading expert in the field.
As a registered migration agent, he has an insight into recruiting automotive trades from overseas, in particular, light and heavy vehicle mechanics, specialist technicians, panel beaters, vehicle spray painters, machinists and more.
Ty Osborne - CEO & Founder, BrainStorm Software

Adrian Parkes - Director, ADAS Solutions Australia
Adrian Parkes is a Director at ADAS Solutions Australia, a leading provider of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assist Systems) calibration services, equipment sales and support, and technician training programs. As a technical specialist with a degree of experience within prestige and performance manufacturers, Adrian has an excellent understanding of advanced automotive technology. His areas of expertise includes cutting edge diagnostics equipment & oscilloscope, technical training authoring and delivery, and a broad knowledge of modern vehicle systems in engine management, electrics & electronics, climate control and key/immobiliser systems.
Adam Pay - Managing Director, mycar Tyre & Auto
Adam has been involved in the Automotive Industry for over 30 years. He started his career at a small independent operator in the UK as an apprentice technician, and soon after moved into store management within Kwik-Fit; a tyre replacement, car servicing and repair company with over 650 service centres across the UK. His career developed rapidly seeing him take on several increasingly senior operational roles and in 2004, after ten years with Kwik-Fit, he made the decision to relocate to Australia.
Adam joined the Kmart Tyre & Auto Service (KTAS) team as a store manager in 2005. Since then he has stepped through senior leadership roles within the organisation, finally being appointed Managing Director in 2013.
Adam oversaw the successful acquisition of KTAS by Continental AG in late 2018. The business rebranded to mycar in mid 2019. mycar currently consists of more than 275 stores across Australia, operating out of every state and territory. This includes 30 electric vehicle (EV) ready stores. Benjamin joined Super Retail Group in July 2019 as Managing Director – Supercheap Auto. Benjamin holds a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) from the University of Newcastle and is an experienced retail executive with 25 years in senior management roles across Australia, UK, US and Europe, including two decades with international supermarket giant ALDI. Previously, he was Managing Director, Global Business Coordination for ALDI Supermarkets based in Germany. Rodger Nardi - Executive Officer, AASRA
Rodger Nardi is the Executive Officer of Australian Automotive Service and Repair Authority (AASRA), which is the Scheme Adviser for the Motor Vehicle Service & Repair Information Sharing Scheme ACT 2021. Rodger has over 20 years’ experience in the automotive industry working with SPX Service Solutions/ Bosch Service Solutions focussed on workshop diagnostics and equipment. Rodger managed the SPX Aftermarket division for APAC and after the Bosch acquisition had a stint in the USA. He returned to Australia to take up a national role for Autodata.

Dickson Leow - General Manager, Infinitev
Dickson Leow is a mobility and automotive executive at Innovative Mechatronics Group (IM Group). Before IM Group, he was the Chief Technology Leader and National Leader of Mobility Futures at ARRB. He has experience in leading projects in Mobility, EV, Transport, and Connected Automated Vehicles. He was an international committee expert member of ISO TC 204 for Intelligent Transport System and Standards Australia IT-023, as well as numerous SAE Technical and Strategy Working Groups. Dickson is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), Fellow (FIEAust) and Executive Engineer (ExecEng) member of Engineers Australia. Dickson has also worked in roles nearing 15 years with OEM and is well recognised for his international vehicle regulatory audits and insights. Dickson was also an active EV-committee member for Federal Chambers Automotive Industries (FCAI) and the Fuel Cell Vehicle Technology and related hybrid technology. Dickson has nearly three decades of experience in both private and government sectors in Mobility, EV/Hybrid, Battery Energy, ITS, CAV, Homologation, Regulatory Affairs, Vehicle Engineering and Design, Vehicle Safety, and IP Law in Australia, Europe, and Japan. With over 40 years automotive experience and over 20 years as a Ferrari and Maserati technician, Keith’s automotive experience and knowledge is second to only a few.
Keith has a continuous learning mindset and has been at the forefront of cutting-edge developments in automotive performance, innovation and technology during his extensive career.
Joining MTAQ in 2012 Keith brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to the position, holding qualifications in Light Vehicle Mechanic Technology, Automotive Electrical along with accreditations in Electric Vehicles. Nigel Palmer is an automotive trainer who has over 30 years’ experience in the automotive trade. Across his career, Nigel has worked in various roles and gained a wide technical skill set.
Nigel entered the training sphere in 2001 with Ford Motor Company and today continues to share his knowledge through the MTA.
Nigel’s electric vehicle service and repair interest began in in 2010 with Mitsubishi Motors and he continues to expand his knowledge every year. Nigel enjoys passing on these new generation EV skills to technicians across the country.
Brandon Steckler - Technical Editor, Motor Age Magazine
Brandon began his career at Northampton County Community College in Bethlehem, PA. There, he was a student of GM’s Automotive Service Educational program. In 2001, he graduated top of his class and earned the GM Leadership award for his efforts. He later began working as a technician at a Saturn dealership in Reading, PA where he quickly attained Master Technician status. He later transitioned to working with Hondas where he aggressively worked to attain another Master Technician status. Always having a passion for a full understanding of system/ component functionality, he rapidly earned a reputation for deciphering strange failures at an efficient pace and became known as an information specialist amongst the staff and peers at the dealership. In search of new challenges, he once again transitioned away from the dealership and to the independent world, where he specializes in diagnostics and drivability.
Today, he is the Technical Editor of Motor Age Magazine and an instructor with both CarQuest Technical Institute and WorldPAC Training Institute. Along with beta testing for Automotive Test Solutions, he continues to write for Motor Age Magazine and develops curriculum/submits case studies for educational purposes. Brandon also provides telephone and live technical support, as well as private training for technicians all across the world.
Brandon contributes weekly to FaceBook Automotive Chat groups and truly enjoys traveling across the globe to help other technicians attain a level of understanding that will serve them well throughout their careers.
