Born in the 1970s, into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Okogho, she hails from Asaba in Delta State. The martial art and taekwondo lover spoke to Tambari.

WHEN I WAS A CHILD I REALLY WANTED TO BE A PILOT; THAT WAS MY DREAM. I THOUGHT I WOULD BE THE FIRST FEMALE NIGERIAN PILOT. BUT THAT DREAM DIED WHEN I REALISED THAT THERE WAS ALREADY SOMEONE WHO ACHIEVED THAT FEAT.

Educational background I had my high school in the Essence International School, Kaduna and all my other education in Switzerland. I went to Saint George’s School in Switzerland and proceeded to the European University, where I had a master’s degree in Public Relations and Information Systems. I am more of a computer than fashion person. But fashion has always been my passion. I have loved designing and mixing attires since I was very little. After working for a while in real estate I started working as a model and decided to follow my passion. Career When I was working in real estate, one of my bosses had a modelling agency. She enrolled me in a competition and I ended up being selected as one of the finalists. I went for the competition and won. That was how my modelling career started. Growing up Growing up was amazing. I was like the pre-computer generation. We didn’t have phones and other gadgets, so we had to write letters and talk to people because that was the only way we could communicate. Unlike today where my son is fully engrossed in his I-pad and computer games, it was great because then, you would go to friends’ houses, hang out and have fun together, running around and playing. Challenges There are a lot of challenges when it cha comes to business. I have my company h based in other countries countr such as Bangkok and Switzerland, and one Switzerl here in Nigeria. Different continents Diffe present different challenges, in terms cha off culture, cult lture, government, governme politics and people. It is a struggle struggl trying to joggle everything, but one h has to adapt. That is what I think a good business is about. Life’s lessons You learn to be a stronger person. You learn a lot more about m yourself because becau they are challenges you yo are facing and you think you y won’t be able to overcome. But with overco a lot of perseverance and patience, you p see through see yourself y them. They make th you yo stronger and an better, more confident m in everything e you do. You learn understand to und everything; you also everyt learn tto be patient. It’s not all the time you have to react; sometimes you just have to be quiet watch, after that you and wat step forward. take a st Aspirations growing up Aspirati was a child I really When I w be a pilot; that was wanted to b my dream. Best food I love Thai food. My favourite Nigerian dish is jollof rice and plantain.

THE FIRST APPLICATION I CHECK IN THE MORNING IS WHATSAPP.

What I would tell a younger me To just be patient - don’t be in a hurry for anything. Everything happens in God’s time and not ours; so even if you want it to happen now and it is meant to happen in 10 years, that is when it will happen, even if you cry or stress over it.

BE THE O SHOE BOSS

by PRISCA EKOKUJE-EMADU ne notable accessory that can make or mar an outfit is the shoes. Wearing the right shoes to the office is a must for the fashion conscious man. Looking good in office shoes shouldn’t be a problem for most men as it is one accessory that can’t go wrong if worn rightly to suit an outfit. There are basically two colours that look professional and befitting for an office environment - black and brown, it could be coffee or carton brown. These colours of shoes give a smart and presentable look. They are neutral and can go with almost all outfits. The stylish man would agree that looking good in all areas is not meant only for women, men also have their quota when it comes to being fashionable. It would be right to point out that shoes should be worn with the right stockings.

Quick tips for healthy nails by PRISCA EKOKUJE-EMADU

L

ike every other part of our body, the nails need adequate care. The nails can fall prey to infection if they are not given the required care. One popular infection known to affect the nails is fungus. This infection makes the nails look unhealthy, cracked, discoloured and unattractive. These are simple ways to prevent fungus from affecting the nails. 1. Wash your hands and feet with soap and water. This is one important habit that can prevent germs from affecting the nails. Also, make sure to rinse and dry thoroughly. 2. Some people are known to have sweaty feet; hence they are easy prey to fungus infection if they don’t adequately care for their feet. It is advisable to often air dry your shoes, as well as wash or clean them. Endeavour to wear pairs of socks

that absorb heat. Don’t wear old shoes because they can create easy access for germs. It is best to throw them away or disinfect them before wearing. 3. Don’t trim nails around your skin as this may easily harbour germs. 4. Don’t walk around on barefeet in public places because no public place can be as clean as your home. 5. Visit the nail salon once in a while for a pedicure and manicure, especially if you can’t do them yourself. Having professional hands care for your nails would keep fungus away. Make sure the instruments are sterilized, or you have your personal tools. 6. If you happen to come in contact with an infected nail, it is advisable to wash your nails because fungus can spread to un-infected nails.

IRREGULAR BLEEDING FOR TWO MONTHS I have been bleeding almost every day for two months now. Sometimes I use up-to two four sanitary towel a day. I have done several scans and I was told it was fibroid polyps but not too big about 4 cm by 5 cm. The last doctor advised that I undergo an operation. Is there no other way? Why does he want to operate even though the fibroids are small? Ifeoma, Port Harcourt Fibroid polyps is when the fibroid is located inside the endometrium with the attachment to the uterus by a stalk. most starts as sub mucous fibroids before growing to become fibroid polyps. Sometimes the stalk becomes so long that it protrudes from the cervix into the vaginal. Fibroid polyps are usually symptomatic even when they are small. Irregular bleeding

like yours is a common presenting symptom. Another is pains because the uterus treats it like a foreign body and the uterus contracts to expel it which results in the pains. Though it is small, removal or other forms of treatment is necessary to stop the bleeding which is dangerous to health. Open myomectomy to remove it is an option as the doctor advised. Other options include

OVULATION TIME I have a problem in knowing my ovulation time. I always see my period after every twenty-two or twenty-four days. My doctor advised I use clomid and folic acid but all in vain for the past six months. Please doctor I need your help. Buba Sparks Zaria The constant phase of ovulation cycle is the luteal phase which starts immediately after ovulation till the next menses. This luteal phase is usually fourteen days. A woman who has a twenty-eighth-day cycle, it is likely her ovulation is day fourteen or fifteen of the cycle, in your own case it is likely to be eighth or ninth day for twenty-two-day cycle length and tenth or eleventh day in a twenty-four-day cycle length. For you not to miss your fertile period intercourse should start from the seventh day till at least thirteenth day. Better still ensure you meet with your spouse about four days in a week, then you are not likely to miss your ovulation day.You should also take note that it is not proper to take clomid without doing preliminary investigtions to ensure the tubes were patent or at least one tube is patent and that the sperm count is normal. We have also advised that monitoring the response by doing follicular tracking is important. There may be need to increase the dosage of clomid or even change to injectable. So I will suggest you see a gynaecologist.

hysteroscopic removal especially if the stalk is not too broad. The use of drugs like Gonadotrophin releasing hormone analogue is also feasible though if she is not close to menopause one still has to remove the fibroid. With the way you bleed it is better you follow the counsel of the last doctor please.

CAN I STILL HAVE ACUTE MALARIA? Is it possible to have malaria despite being on Sunday - Sunday tablets? Chichi, Kaduna. Yes, it is possible. The Sunday Sunday tablets is the prophylactic anti-malaria usually a combination of sulfadoxime and pyrimethamine. It is usually three tablets taken once a week. Other prophylactic anti malaria also includes paludrine which is usually taken on daily basis. The latter is commonly recommended for sickle cell disease patients while the former is commonly prescribed for pregnant women. No matter the type of the prophylactic used the patient could still develop acute malaria in which case full treatment for malaria must be instituted. Anti-malaria prophylaxis does not mean that the person cannot still have malaria. Other prevention like sleeping under insecticide treated nets and clearing of the surroundings will further reduce the chance of acute malaria.

ocated in Abia State, South-East, Nigeria, Ohafia is made up of different communities. Also extending to Abiriba and Nkporo, the ancestral base of these Igbo-speaking people is a community known as Elu. In the past, the culture of the Ohafia people was hinged on one’s prowess in war. The people were constantly on the lookout

for wars to partake in as mercenaries and hunt for slaves. The Ohafia war dance tells the story of a warrior who goes to war and beheads his opponent. He brings the human head home as a proof of his courage and gallantry. The Ohafia war dancer move his chest as he carries the images of human heads. This is because when a head is separated from the body,
