Looking fab this season by PRISCA EKOKUJE-EMADU

he raining season is here, and as we all know what accompanies the season is the cold weather. This for many serves as a hindrance for looking good, but that is not meant to be so as there are many ways to dress fab in the season. Here are a few tips. - Wear and blend your outfits with black. Black is one colour that is known to help retain heat which helps to keep the body warm. - High necklines can come in very handy in this season. - Rock your long sleeves. - Long and full gowns and skirts can be your best bet in keeping cold away. - This is the time to bring out your jackets, they are one easy way to getting a fab formal look while remaining. - Veils can be another fashion accessory that gives that touch to your outfit, and also shield you from the cold.

It is important to note that for every season or condition, designers have made creative designs that suit the climate and yet make you remain stylish. Don’t dull yourself because of the season, be creative and remain the fashionista that you are.

CARING FOR LEATHER SHOES T by PRISCA EKOKUJE-EMADU
aking good care of leather shoes is not just about making them look good, but also als about preserving them and making them stay for as long ma as possible. Not taking care of leather shoes can make them lea dry and eventually crack, which makes them lose their beauty. ma When Wh cleaning leather shoes it is i best you use a soft cloth to clean. Polish when needed to cle keep ke the shine of the leather.
One common rule known with leather shoes are that they mustn’t get damp or wet, that can ruin the leather. Preserve leather shoes in a place that is not too hot, as that can get the leather to peel. It is one thing to look good and another to take care of what you wear. It doesn’t matter if you spend much or little on your shoes, taking good care of it makes you step out in style.

B E AU T Y Common foundation mistakes to avoid by MULIKATU MUKAILA
I
t is a bit tricky to find the perfect and matching foundation for your face. How do you know the particular foundation that matches with your natural skin colour shade? You may think that you have mastered the art of makeup like a pro. But most are guilty of some foundation mistakes. Below are some of the tips to help avoid the blunders: 1. TESTING THE FOUNDATION UNDER A PERFECT BRIGHTLY COLOURED LIGHT: Illumination is particularly essential and ensures that you buy the right colour for your skin. To ensure that the colour you have chosen is a perfect match for your skin, it is better to try it and check how it turns out after few minutes in day light. 2. SELECTING THE RIGHT FOUNDATION TEXTURE: The texture of foundation you choose must match your skin type. If your skin is dry, it is a wrong choice to use a matte foundation. Application of such foundation will cause a drier skin effect and a loss of skin moisture. A common foundation mistake
made by women with oily face is to use powder foundation. 3. IMPERFECT BLENDING OF YOUR FOUNDATION: The most common practice among women is to blend the foundation with the fingers. Using edgeless sponge such as beauty blender to blend the foundation ensures that the colour is evenly distributed to the skin. This makes your face to look more natural. 4. INCOMPLETE APPLICATION FOUNDATION MISTAKES: A common foundation mistake is to apply your foundation only on your face and not touching on the neckline. This leaves the face and neck with different colour hues. You need to always remember to apply your foundation down to your neck line. 5. KNOWING THE RIGHT VOLUME SHADE OF FOUNDATION TO APPLY: Whatever shade of foundation you use, make sure it is one that fits you perfectly.
DO YOU KNOW... THAT YOUR MAKE-UP BEGINS TO FALL OFF WHEN EXPOSED TO SUNLIGHT IF THE FOUNDATION ISN’T WELL BLENDED ON THE FACE?

Preventing your skin from make-up side effects Congratulations
W
hile make-up can make you look gorgeous, it can also ruin your skin. Here’s how to prevent the side effects of make-up.
2. Clean or wash your face with a cleanser which is appropriate for your skin type.
1. After using thick layers of Make up, one should not use hard soap or hard face wash to remove the Make up. A mild face wash would be appropriate here.
4. Pat your face dry with a soft towel. Don’t rub madly - the facial skin is sensitive.
on your wedding
3. To remove the eye make-up always use a good remover with fewer chemicals, massage the eyes properly to get rid of dark circles.

What is kidney infection? Is there any disease called kidney infection? What is the solution? Zainab
Y
es there is kidney infection. This occurs when there is bacteria infection of the upper
part of the urinary tract which include the kidney and the ureters. The kidneys are located in
the loins that is the right and left sides. It’s present with unilateral or bilateral loin pains, fever, painful urination among other symptoms. It has to be treated aggressively. Quite a number of times there
IS THIS NORMAL? A situation where one’s menstrual cycle happens to be 28 days in February then 33 days in March and 29 days in April and 34 days in May, and the flow lasts up to seven days. Is there a problem concerning this type of menstrual cycle? Anonymous
I
f you look at the pattern all are within 21 to 35days. And any menstrual cycle length within this range is said to be normal. Therefore the cycle length is still okay. In terms of the flow it is not that simple, though the flow of seven its still within the normal range of two to seven days but the quantity of flow still matters. I will have liked to know how many sanitary towels you use per day? If you use one or two sanitary pads in a day foe seven days then it is still normal but if you have
to change about four to six pads in a day then that isn’t normal but menorrhagia, that is heavy menstrual flow. In which case you need to see a gynaecologist. One of the things you must note is that because of the varying menstrual length, it is difficult to predict you ovulation time. Therefore for conception don’t target ovulation time by counting days to meet with your spouse but meet regularly about three to four days a week.

might be need to use parenteral antibiotics. The solution to prevent complications is early diagnosis and proper treatment with appropriate antibiotics.
IS CONFUSION A DISEASE? Is confusion a disease? I have that problem. When I want to do something I get scared and my heart beats faster. I then have chest pain, when I talk to people I stammer and my hands shake. What is happening to me and what do I do? David, Kaduna. First let us get a definition of health, this is a state of physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of diseases. People think the only person that is sick is the person with malaria, typhoid, tuberculosis, physical injury among others. Sickness is not only physical but includes mental and social problems too. What you have is undue anxiety which leads to a state of confusion. The fear leads to palpitations because it affects the heart and makes the heart to beat faster and increase demand on the heart and vasoconstriction in the region leads to the chest pains. That is where some sudden bad news especially on people who are unduly anxious, can cause cardiac arrest and even death. Some people have died out of fear when accident is about to happen rather than from the accident injury itself. You stammer and have shaky hands because of nervousness most likely. What you need to do primarily is to work on your self-confidence. There is need to be afraid. Developing self-confidence will go a long way in solving this problem. You may need to see a psychologist. In case the shaky hands persist then you may need some medication in which case you have to see a physician. In case you are on hard drugs you have to stop the habit. But do not forget the main treatment is self confidence.
