Rows over Metuh’s appearance in court with handcuffs
D
uring the week The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh, was driven to the Federal High Court in Abuja, from Kuje prison. The picture of his appearance with handcuffs went viral and this set the trend for discussion on social media as netizens support or criticize the action Okafor Gold Head posted “All those involved in this scandal as the APC has made us to believe, if found guilty should go to jail. But all we are saying is 1, The ‘invitation’ is one-sided. 2, Suspects should be treated
with dignity. 3, There should be rule of law, for we are no longer in military govt.” Kola in his response to Okafor wrote “An ordinary man who steals goat or N10.00 at the market place is being handcuffed and seriously beaten if not even killed immediately. What are you saying bros, consider it normal and forget about sentiments. So the rich must also cry.” Bobo Jim-Ogbolo Fula “I’m not against an accused being handcuffed! I’m against an accused being treated like someone who’s been passed guilty” Austino77 responded to
Bobo with “So how was he treated? Why are you not fighting the cause of those accused of stealing one thing or the other and have spent years behind bar awaiting trials? “ “No one is above the law, if any, common Nigerian citizen could be accused and handcuffed I don’t see any reason why corrupt politicians cannot be handcuffed and be treated like a criminal” wrote John Obi and Netanyahu posted “Why didn’t Dasuki or Bello or Dokpesi and the rest appear in court in cuffs? That is the question. Equal treatment, equal rights.

Leadership, attitude key to solving youth challenges – Advocate, Chris Nwani Christopher Nwani, from Delta state is the Founder and National President of Youth Afrique Leadership Forum, an initiative that is building youth for positive activism. In this interview, the administrator and former banker spoke on the challenges of Nigerian youth, solution to the nation’s leadership issues and his brand, ‘A New Nigeria is Possible’. Text by Abubakar Haruna

hat do you think is the major challenge of Nigerian youth? Our challenge is leadership. There is no good leadership without attitude and this attitude also makes a leader. The major problem is attitude. If our attitude is changed it will affect the leadership we produced in this country. Why are youth marginalised in taking up the mantle of leadership? The Nigerian Youth think that elders should be the one to tell them what to do. I want to use this opportunity to tell them that I am not saying that the leaders cannot do what is right. What I want to tell them that the present can be made to be better for the future to be enjoyed. If their fathers have not laid a good foundation upon which they have tried they can do something so that the next generation will not become a victim.
Any leader that intends to make progress in Nigeria must take this issue of reorientation seriously, it is not only about the youth, it could be civil servants
platform to change the mindset of Nigerians. In this country we don’t lack intelligent people, we don’t lack creative people but we lacked people with attitude. If we can be able to make our attitude right, every other problem will be solved. You have an initiative, when did it start? It started years back when I was in higher school. The new Nigeria is a dream we all have. I grew up knowing that I can do something for Nigeria and began to do it gradually more and more until we got to where we are. We have not gotten anywhere but we are still going further to achieve the desired objective. You launched your new book recently, what is the motivation for that? Nigerians behave as though we do not know what is
wrong and what we can do to change this nation. We can’t blame any man who does not have information on what to do to be better than he is. I decided to put this book together to educate people and change their mind so that they can think that there is an option that Nigeria can change. So when some people say that there is no option you can blame them. That is why this book has been put together to provide that alternative that is required. Do you have any message for Nigerians? The message is to make people believe in Nigeria. We have to put in our best and we have to work hard to be able to save this country. My opinion in the book is clear that Nigerians of today should have a rethink and act proactively. We are to use what is available to advance and ensure that the next generation gets the right orientation to move the nation forward.
Are you satisfied with the policy direction of this administration to address youth restiveness? That is what they ought to do. Any leader that intends to make progress in Nigeria must take this issue of reorientation seriously, it is not only about the youth, it could be civil servants. This message of re-orientation, which is changing our mindset, the way we see Nigerian, the way we behave, the way we do things in Nigeria. It is the responsibility of the government to use all the necessary machinery to change Nigerians attitude. So the people need to know what to do without which they will not provide the necessary support for government. Even though Government is trying its best but they can still do more. What would you suggest as solutions to these challenges? The only solution is the Government to provide

Sparkle sequins

equins are glittering materials that come in different colours, lengths and sizes. They are not fashion items that would likely go of anytime soon. They also make a major statement, thus they need to be used carefully. However, there are several ways of sparkling in sequins. - Do not let the sparkles on your outfit do the talking. They should be kept simple and modest. - Sequins can also look terrible when they are pulled away from one another, thereby exposing the cloth under. Therefore the best way to avoid this is never to wear anything sequined if it’s too tight. - To achieve a superb look, wear your sequins with less jewelry as too much jewelry will take the ‘shine’ off you. - Sequins can be sewn into any style of your choice: buba and iro, skirts, trousers, Jacket. The most important thing is looking stylish in whatever you make out of your sequin material. Sequins are eye-catching because they make

you stand out in a crowd by making you the cynosure of all eyes. They also give you that fashionista look. Though a simple material sequins make you classy, fabulous and glam. Every fashionconscious lady should have 2 or more sequins materials in the wardrobe.
