hy are you aspiring to be chairman of a local council? I am aspiring for the post because of the yearnings of the ordinary man on the streets, and because of the yearnings of the youth. What gives you the confidence that you would pick the party’s ticket? Among the aspirants in Ojodu LCDA, I believe I am the youngest candidate among all and with my attitude to make sure that we have a very good youth movement, and my antecedent in bringing about unity and stability among them, I have an edge over others. Why do you believe that youth should be given the chance? I believe the youth constitute 75 per cent of the total votes in Nigeria and if I can defend this country at age 18, why can’t I rule the country at that age? I’m not streamlining it to the local government alone and that our elders cannot do it, but they

Since I was a kid, I wass told eaders that the youth are the leaders elm of of tomorrow, but at the helm eople affairs, you realize that people of 50-year-old and above rship. take charge of leadership. Today’s government is giving e any us the chance to assume tance, post in Nigeria. For instance, a 28-year- old is the sole administrator in Agege Local Government. major What are the ackle if challenges you would tackle elected? The first challenge is poverty because it is nationwide. If we can reduce the level of poverty at the grassroots, I believe we would have better leaders and we would have a better environment. There should be a kind of human developmental approach, to empower our youth, widows, and retirees. We should also have a well-structured empowerment programme. ntrepreneurship is trending around the globe, as experts have observed that mobilizing entrepreneurs to start up their own businesses is the most impacting gift so far. The Hands for Life Enterprise in Abuja has trailed this path so far. The Senior Partner of the firm, Bashirat Abdulwahab in an interview said being an entrepreneur is not for the light hearted but that persistence, vision, drives, resiliency, and flexibility are the core of a successful entrepreneur. The enterprise, which is a skills consulting firm is interested in making skills available to youth and vulnerable women. She said her vision was to find ways to support minority groups and marginalized populations so they can actively participate in this entrepreneurship and economic opportunities. The firm also organizes entrepreneurship fairs where various young business owners come to showcase their products and share ideas. The mother of two, who is a widow herself, said she doesn’t see being a widow or an orphan a reason to be a beggar or live a miserable life. “The driving force for me is using the story of my life to encourage young girls and widows that they can be whatever they want to be. Being a widow or an orphan may be a minor setback but it shouldn’t be the reason why they shouldn’t make it in life,” she said. With five graduates presently, Bashirat tries to give hope to those who have lost hope adding that it is never too late to start something.

“You can always start small from soap-making, shoemaking, fashion designing, and cosmetology. Besides, these skills do not require too much technicality,” she quipped.

rowing up, African prints (Ankara) was considered more traditional clothing. When young ladies especially were asked to use the ‘normal’ wrappers to sew skirt and blouse or even gowns, they would frown. My friends and I were not left out of the murmurings. Now, it seems that these same ‘wrapper materials’ have found their way back to the fashion scene but in newer and trendier styles – short jackets, stylish gowns, jumpsuits, ball gowns etc.

Besides using them to make trendy and classy wears, they are used to make jewelleries such as bangles, earrings, necklaces, and even shoes, bags as well as furniture covers for furniture, throw pillows etc. Ankara also adds beauty to whatever you transform it into and wherever you use it and what you use it as – be it as a furniture cover or something you carry with you. Why not try something Ankara- ish this weekend as you step out either for an occasion or just casual outings.

ouis (Ken Erics) and Rose (Ivie Okujaye) were in love and about to be married. Their relationship hadn’t been on for too long before he popped the big question to her. However, as the two looked forward to their special day, Louis thought it was time for Rose to meet his best

friend, Terry (Esther Audu). Rose had no issue with the fact that her fiancé’s best friend was a woman but what upset her was the fact that Terry knew him better than she did… The movie wasn’t up to expectations with the lapses that are just too little to bat an eyelid about.

The lighting wasn’t good, and the background noise was over the voices as the utterances of the characters were barely audible.so if you are looking for a movie to watch that would just ensure time passes by quickly, then ‘Burning bushes’ might just be the one.
