Taranaki has been known as ‘The Garden of New Zealand’ for over 150 years. Early settlers coined the term in the region’s earliest marketing material, and these days the gardens even have their own festivals.

very spring the Taranaki Garden Festival and Taranaki Fringe Garden Festival together showcase more than 100 gardens throughout the region – every style of garden is presented, from eclectic to epic, along with events and workshops.
