2.0 WELCOME TO THE LAUNCH OF 2012 FSG PERFORMANCE EVALUATION PROCESS! A key responsibility of being a leader at ABM is ensuring the professional development of employees. Furthermore, it is equally essential that our leaders provide detailed feedback to their employees via the annual performance evaluation process. Collaborative work to develop a new performance evaluation tool for FSG employees was completed in November 2012. At that time, FSG Leaders compared our newly created format to the version that was being used throughout the rest of the ABM enterprise. We found these documents to be almost identical. In OneABM spirit, for 2012 we are adopting the ABM enterprise evaluation tool for our division. Our leaders recognize that pushing out an evaluation form at the end of the fiscal year does not meet the intent of using the performance form as a means to set goals for individuals, provide developmental guidance, and conduct performance counseling at the beginning, mid-point, and end of the rating cycle. By participating in this process for 2012, it is our hope that the exercise will familiarize both managers and employees with the format we will use for 2013. 3.0 THE ABM PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT PHILOSOPHY/APPROACH In support of ABM’s values of Respect, Fairness, and Dignity, it is important that all employees receive regular, timely, and relevant job performance feedback. While our expectation is to provide feedback throughout the year, our annual performance review process formalizes this important communication. The purpose of ABM’s Performance Review process is to: -

Measure, document and rate job performance and results, reinforce positive contributions, identify areas that need improvement, and encourage continued growth and development Provide an opportunity for managers/supervisors and employees to jointly discuss past and current performance, note areas for improvement, and develop an appropriate path to assist with continued development

4.0 OVERVIEW This year there are two separate appraisal forms: -

A performance appraisal form for individual contributors/employees A performance appraisal form for managers/supervisors

The difference between the two evaluation forms is the addition of two leadership-related performance behaviors on the manager/supervisor form. To start the process, the "Manager" notifies the "Employee" of SharePoint Portal Link (links below), to request that they complete a self-appraisal. The self-appraisal can be completed directly on the review form in the areas noted for "Employee Comments." Utilizing the SharePoint site will allow HR to perform analyses on aggregate data from uploaded completed appraisal forms. The separate landing pages for Managers and Employees include instructions, a Toolkit of help resources, as well as the corresponding Manager or Employee Appraisal form for completion.
