FEATURE TUCO Announces Several Changes to Kaiso Calendar
T
he Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organization has released their Carnival 2013 schedule of events, revealing several drastic changes to the competitive event landscape. Among the changes is a much talked about removal of the traditional Dimanche Gras show. The grand event was usually held on Carnival Sunday. Instead, the National Calypso Monarch and King and Queen of Carnival will be crowned on separate days with Carnival Thursday being the date for the Calypso Finals.

FEATURE Aze Young Jet Set A
ndre Samaroo may not be a household name, but he definitely possesses the swagger and aura of an entertainment industry mainstay. He pushes the boundaries of ashion much in the vein of celebrities like Swappi and J-Angel and he is just as talented. The 25 year old Tunapuna native has already developed a cult following in T&T’s urban music underground with his signature smooth crooning abilities and dance moves and he has performed in several youth events around the country as part of his Team Golden Star collective. Now, the up and comer who goes by the soubriquet Aze Yung is ready to show the world that he is ready to take it to the next level.
On Success
His contribution to carnival 2013 is called “No Holding Back.” The song is a groovy track that the singer claims everyone can relate to. However, he is also confident about the success of his collaboration with other members of the Golden Star Team called “Gyal Yuh Hot”. The song is best described as a “bubbling tune” with bouncy production that is very radio friendly. Relatively new to the game, Aze seems to already have the industry figured out. He has been networking continuously with industry insiders and bigwigs while balancing his studies in the field of Psychology at UWI. That has enabled him to collaborate with some very good producers
and singers. Sadly, he will never get the chance to collaborate with his dream artiste, the late Blazer Dan. In fact, Aze’s style is similar to the deceased bard without the hard elements. Samaroo himself admits that is style is best described as crossover. “My musical style is a fusion of R&B, dancehall and soca; giving every track I do not only a Caribbean vibe, but something everyone can grove to” says the artiste. He believes he has a great shot to go mainstream as long as the powers that be play fair. He urges radio DJ’s to give the youth a chance as long as their music is up to standard. After all, as Andre likes to put it “We (the youths) are the future!”
Erotic Cabaret Production Receives Enthusiastic Response Cirque De La Boheme Hosts Second Open Audition T
he bleeding edge producers of Trinidad and Tobago’s scintillating experience, Cirque de la Boheme, will host a second open casting for creatives of all disciplines. The overwhelming interest in this must-see Carnival production created the need for additional auditions. The 90-minute erotic production is set to revolutionize the traditional calypso tent with risqué subject matter, playful innuendo and humorous plots that challenge the cultural landscape of Carnival. The audition takes place on Wednesday December 19, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. at La Danse Caraibe, 32 Luis Street in Woodbrook. Flooded with casting applications including international talent, the show’s producers were forced to consider additional audition dates. Following the first 2

Applicants are required to perform two (2) audition pieces, one contemporary and one local. FEATURE AEI Tries to Develop Central’s
Entertainment Options
T
hough much of the focus on local entertainment remains in the West; there are options for partying in other areas in Trinidad. A promotional group from Central Trinidad has put a lot of work into ensuring that Chaguanas and environs are not forgotten when it comes to the entertainment scene. AEI, which stands for Ambitious Enthusiastic Individuals, is a group of young Central natives who came together as a result of their involvement in the Chaguanas Women & Youth Group (CWYG). As part of CWYG they were highly successful in generating funding via events and they decided to branch off into their own promotional unit in August, 2010. The committee is a highly specialized team comprising Cleavand Serries - Managing Director, Kevon
Kevon Agostini
Agostini - Production Coordinator, Mashael Blackett - Technical Director, Markus Blackett - Public Relations and Akini Wilson - Marketing & Research. There are also six provisional members who assist in the execution of each event when called upon. In their two years on the scene, AEI have put together several events including ''Crave – In for more,'' “Memories,” “Throwback” and “Flirt.” They also proved their versatility by developing “Hush: A Grown Up Affair” which was catered to a mature audience. They are also involved in various forms of the arts within their region as opposed to strictly parties. The group’s hard work has been paying off. For after building a credible reputation in events management they have been bom-
barded with requests to collaborate with other entities. One such collaboration was – the Flour/United Way Curry Duck Cook Off on Saturday August 11th 2012. The charity event took place on San Fernando Hill with all proceeds going to the United Way Trinidad and Tobago cause. Currently, AEI is busy building the BP (Beautiful People) Sundays brand at Dubai Cocktail Lounge. Member Kevon Agostini believes the partnership with Club Dubai is perfect as the venue truly represents what their brand stands for. “It was created with the intention of bringing beautiful people together in an exotic ambiance to share positive vibes” he said. This team could be the first step in bringing the Chaguanas events scene back to life.

Elderly folk and the needy were grateful to be remembered during this time of sharing and the public was happy to have a time to enjoy the merriment that goes with Christmas. Entertainment was vivacious, lively and varied and kept the crowd engaged. assistant. Lizann, called Lizzy by most of her friends, is also the co-founder/ marketing director of an online high end clothing website called La Donna Tova which is to be launched soon. Modeling has not always been the vanguard of Lizzys’ life and ambitions but it is something she greatly enjoys and loves. She is currently working on building a portfolio inclusive of work from well known international photographers but so far Ms. Hochoy’s portfolio consists of work with local major photographers such as Kerron Riley, Nigel Reid, Richard Munro and Sancho Francisco just naming a few. She has not done much work on the runway owing to the fact that she only seriously started a career in modeling about a year ago. But since then she has been the Mona Lisa of photographers, featured in Newsday’s Mentality twice; once where she was the centerfold and she has also been
featured on the IM Fashionista website. Over the years, Lizann, who is also an artist, has held back on tremendous amounts of opportunities in the modeling arena because of all the other hectic activities in her life. But now that Lizann is ready she has cleared out some of the activities on her plate and is grabbing every opportunity that comes along. When asked what are her hopes in life, Lizann says “I hope to be well rounded and successful in all endeavors of my life and modeling is definitely something I hope to be a success at as I go on further, I also hope to improve my junk filled diet and also find a great guy.” With a beautiful smile and a trademark mole on the left corner of her lip, Lizann Hochoy is truly one of a kind and would definitely be an asset to all runways and magazine covers.

Beach Beauty Tips I t’s nearing Winter in some regions, but in T&T it’s still perfect weather for a day at the beach. Many of us want to look good at the beach, but know that most types of makeup aren’t an option. However, we feel naked without makeup. Fear not, there is still much that can be done to keep you beautiful at the beach without using too much makeup. Here’s our guide to swag surfing.
YOUR FACE Makeup on the beach should be very minimal. The less makeup you have on, the better it will look. As always, start with a clean moisturized face. Before putting on your makeup, make sure to use a good sunscreen. In fact, there are wonderful tinted moisturizers out there that contain sunscreen for added protection. Once the moisturizer has absorbed into the
skin, dab on concealer, using a synthetic brush on the areas where you need coverage and blend the edges into your skin. Make sure you use a color that matches your
skin tone. YOUR LIPS For the lips, use a sheer color that looks more natural. Whatever you
BEAUTY use should moisturize, smooth and protect lips against UVA/ UVB exposure. Lip gloss is the best bet for the beach. What's great is they come in a variety of colors! ADDITIONAL TIPS • Make sure your sunscreen is appropriate for the time you plan to spend in the sun. • Wear a fabulous hat. It makes a terrific fashion statement and will help protect you from the sun. • Sunglasses are also recommended. Be sure to get ones with UVA & UVB protective lenses. • Drink plenty of water. Dehydration can really sneak up on you at the beach and take a toll on your appearance. • Find great hair accessories (barrettes, ponytail holders, headbands, clips, etc.) to give a little glamour to your "after beach" hairdo.
AB Rehab: The Post Christmas Workout I
f you want to look fit, a flat stomach can really make all the difference in the world. Unfortunately, for many Christmas gorging can leave them in a less than desirable state. Despite that, there are measures which can be taken to counteract the ravages of overeating on the stomach. These easy postpartum exercises are the right rehab for your abs.
Pelvic tilts: Lie down on the floor with your legs bent, feet resting on the floor. Slowly tighten your abdominals and roll your pelvis towards you. Breathe evenly and try to initiate the movement with your abs instead of squeezing the glutes too much. Don't forget to tighten the pelvic floor when doing pelvic tilts, since they may place pressure on it and stretch it further. Single-Leg Circles: Lie face up on the floor with your arms at your sides, palms down. Scoop your belly in (imagine you're
FITNESS
pulling your belly button toward your spine) and extend your right leg toward the ceiling, toes pointed and turned slightly outward. Inhale and imagine that you're tracing a circle about the size of a dinner plate with your right leg, tightening your abs to keep hips still on the floor throughout the movement. Circle 10 times clockwise, then repeat in a counterclockwise direction. Switch legs and repeat. Before you begin anyone of these exercises it is imperative that you get the blood pumping in the body as to avoid sudden injury. Warming up with light cardio (be it jogging or a brisk walk) also helps burn calories and unwanted fat in conjunction with your strength workout. As you get stronger, you can progress to more difficult exercises. Before you do anything, check with your doctor and work with him or her to develop a starting exercise program.

Fulfilling Mayan Prophecy?? 2
012 had its ups and downs when it came to fashion. Some people really put their best feet forward and shone, while others were nothing short of hot messes. As 2013 draws near we can only hope for the best because if the characters we are about to show you are any indication, we aren’t ending 2012 on a good note. Sometimes we think the Mayans might actually be right.
It’s so sad that he tried so hard and went all out with the blazer only to fall short by wearing shades in the night. Maybe he is blind and his female friend is just helping getting around, but it doesn’t seem that way. We are also questioning his choice of t-shirt under the blazer. Sigh!
We don’t care how much vibes you assist in adding to a party, this outfit is unacceptable. We don’t know if to start from the boots and go up or the hair and go down. In any event, I can feel the solstice beginning any moment now.

Ryan Bailey
Name: Ryan Bailey Age: 23 (April 13th, 1989) Profession: Athlete Claim to Fame: Former gang member Bailey has been stabbed three times, kicked out of school and spent time living out of a car with his mother. Yet, the enigmatic athlete has overcome the odds to become not only a stellar world-
class sprinter, but a role model and sex symbol. As a child growing up in Portland, Oregon, Bailey encountered problems in school due to attention deficit disorder. He joined a gang (at the expense of a brutal hazing) at a very young age and often got into legal trouble. However, after being stabbed multiple times and
dropping out of school he changed his life around and focused on the one thing he was good at – sports. At 6 feet 4 inches, Bailey, who has run 9.88 in the 100, is in the mold of the 6-5 Bolt, who defied the conventional wisdom that height is a disadvantage for sprinters. He qualified for the 2012 London Olympics and fared creditably against the world’s best (he placed

Not to mention his turnaround success story will surely make for an epic book or movie in years to come. Look out for this phenomenal athlete in the coming years.

To the amusement of their adult children and friends, long divorced couple Don and Ellie Griffin (De Niro and Keaton) are once again forced to play the happy couple for the sake of their adopted son's wedding after his ultra conservative biological mother unexpectedly decides to fly halfway across the world to attend. With all of the wedding guests looking on, the Griffins are hilariously forced to confront their past, present and future and hopefully avoid killing each other in the process.
