L
awrence Gonzalez a.k.a. Mr. Renzo is sitting on cloud 9. The sexy soca star with Venezuelan roots enjoyed a hugely successful tail end to 2013 bouyed by the success of his songs X-Rated and Bend Ya Back featuring dancehall star Aidonia. He also started 2014 very brightly as all three of his releases for the year so far (Culo, Anywhere and Take Control) have gotten massive radio play and are well received at parties and fetes. The Trin-Latin sensation hooked up exclusively with ET&T to discuss his success and plans for 2014. No doubt, at the top of the agenda was his latest release which has been killing radio spins for the last two weeks Culo.’ The song has been getting forwards across the board and the heartthrob took time to explain the meaning and inspiration behind the track. "Culo" is Spanish for backside, rear, buttocks, and gluteus maximus or as Trinis say bumper and well "Papi chulo" is ladies’ man… girls man etc. So the chorus simply says show me the way you move your behind to make me your man.” Stated Renzo. As simple a premise as that is; the song has blown up due to its overall listenability and international appeal. Speaking of international appeal, the star made mention of Jamaican dancehall star Busy Signal who was featured on the song. He said there was a funny story behind the recording process due to a case of mistaken identity. “Busy was here recording the vocals with 1st Klase, but I wasn't pre-

sent because I had a couple of shows that day. However, my Brother - who is my manager - took cover and Busy thought for a moment that he was me. I guess he wanted to live in my shoes for a second. Eventually I came and
laid my vocals.” As far as the other two songs are concerned Lawrence believes they can all hold their own as they each cater to a different. "Anywhere" goes for anyone young or old;
take control is more a road song that could be played for jouvert and Carnival Monday and Tuesday as well as all the carnival fetes. Culo is targeted mainly for a global audience because of the influence of Pop, Samba, Dancehall and Spanish incorporated into the Soca. I call it (Culo) a futuristic soca. I love all the songs as each expresses a different feeling. Music is universal,” he posits. Gonzalez reveals that he is not done with the releases. He says he and his team will be releasing two more riddims. One riddim produced by Sheriff has a crossover feel and features three of Pananma’s top acts. The other Smash Records release is called the Euphoric Riddim produced by SRP. Additionally, he will release one more groovy tune and his first power soca track which is carded to feature Mr. Killa. Of that track, Renzo said “Expect lots of energy. Mr. Renzo declared he is humbled by is success and he still takes time to listen to the work of other artistes, much of which he admires. He called out a few for extra special praise. So far his favorites are HMA by Machel Montano, Truck On The Road by Bunji Garlin, Preedy’s Wining Champion on the Sando Riddim, 5 star Akil’s To Meh Heart and future collaborator Mr. Killa’s Rolly Polly. “Those are my top five, but I really love the songs released so far. Kerwin Dubois and Lyrikal are going to have a really good season.”

TC Signals Evolution with New Album
T
errin Callender is never one to rest on his laurels and enjoy his successes. While he may be appreciative of the fruits of his labour, he is always looking for new ways to grow and evolve. In 2014, the artiste formally known as Super Jigger TC will embrace his new JAIGA persona as he plans to make impactful music with his powerful live sets. While the radio announcer/ singer is undergoing a rebranding of sorts he is hopeful that his fans will embrace the change and realize he is ultimately the same person. In traditional fashion he released a slew of early Carnival material including the popular ‘KEISHA’. The artiste describes the song as one for every partying woman who has an inner "KEISHA" waiting to emerge with the right tune. He also released an accompanying music video for KEISHA on Boxing Day 2013. JAIGA ventured into new territory last year with the
launch of a Christmas song entitled "Christmas Story." Both that song and the aforementioned KEISHA were produced and mastered by GBM Studios in New York. Weeks later he fol-
lowed with his third release, this time on the Sando Riddim produced by Precision Productions; a collaboration with Nutron, entitled “Gyal Season”. Mere days later, Precision Productions was at it again dropping the Wildness Riddim, Jaiga’s track on the riddim being “Hardwuk”. Release number five came in the form of a single entitled “My Team” produced by London Future and Precision Productions. It doesn't just end there for JAIGA. He is currently working on an album for 2014; so instead of his usual 4-5 songs per year he will be releasing a compilation of ten new songs including the five already in rotation. His newest track is truly different. It is a love song inspired by his wife reminiscent of the classics made by the likes of Carl and Carol Jacobs in the 80’s. The track is called “Golden” and features heavy input by the talented Kerwin Du Bois and Nebula 868. JAIGA’s camp warned that another big release to look forward to is entitled –
“Juice” on the (STAG Riddim). As for additional details, he will be working with a number of popular producers, writers and designers for the album including; GBM Productions, Precision Productions, We Mad Music, Advokit, London Future, Kerwin Du Bois, Nebula 868, First Klase, Sekon Sta and several others. The design and artwork is all done by the artistic mastermind, Lee Designs. You can also look out for an even stronger partnership with the brand STAG, as he is one of their main endorsees. With everything stated above as well as his day job; his days consist purely of work, work and more work, recording, gym and radio. He never stops, always going… Yet at the same time he is ensuring he has sufficient time for family as this too is an essential part of his success and being. His mission is quite clear "Success is a must! But for this to happen you have to be persistent and put in the work, otherwise it makes no sense."

future editions of STING following their controversial performances at the show’s 30th anniversary, both are crying foul about their punishments. Isaiah Laing, the show’s lead organizer, announced that Sizzla was banned from the show for promoting ‘hate music’ during his performance, in which he repeatedly hit out against homosexuality. D’Angel, meanwhile, was banned for at least five years as a patron following her impromptu clash with Ninja Man at the Dec. 26 show, which saw her spread her legs and gyrate while wearing a short dress during her set, before giving a bizarre post-performance interview later in the night.
D’Angel defended her actions in an interview published in the Jamaica STAR, saying that she did nothing out of the ordinary given STING’s perennial hardcore nature. D’Angel added she has seen artists split, gyrate and sing lyrics that could be deemed explicit, without any punishment. Sizzla’s publicist, Olimatta Taal responded on behalf of the Grammy-nominated singer, saying organizers should not have attempted to censor him for speaking out against issues deemed illegal in the constitution. "It is Laing's show but he knows the artiste that Sizzla is and he knows what Sizzla represents,” she said. “If you book him for a show, don't censor him. If you want to fight the issue, then fight the Government…Sizzla was just expressing the values he was brought up on. Don't censor the artiste for that.” Neither artist indicated whether they would challenge these bans.

BEAUTY
Timeless Image and Beauty Advice from the Pros
T
rue beauty stems from within. With that said, every individual has personal aspects which make them beautiful and they usually do whatever it takes to capitalize on their strong points. However, some people make a living off of enhancing the beauty and style of others. When these revered professionals speak, the masses usually listen, because they have paid their dues. After all, image is serious business. ET&T hooked up with some well-known professionals in the image field who were willing to share professional beauty tips. I guess they were still feeling the Christmas spirit.
Claudia Pegus: In terms of my personal look, I rotate my beauty regime between Clarins and Munerah's naturally made line of facial products together with adequate rest and exercise.
Nefa Coryat: Apply a face primer before foundation for an easy and flawless application. Use 24-hour foundation to take you from day to night. Liquid foundation applied in a patting motion using a wedge or beauty blender will give u that airbrush flawless look. Peter Elias: Beauty and fashion go hand in hand, so my tip is from the fashion side of things. I love when accessories are paired… example matching shoes and bangles…neon lips and nails…a clutch and inner blouse…It’s a fun way to fun-up a look!
Martha Esdelle: Beauty tips for perfect lips: Apply lip balm to avoid dry lips, fill in lips with lip pencil of your choice and apply gloss or lipstick for a perfect finish. Beauty tips for erasing under eye bags: Apply lighter concealer directly below eye bag so as to create a shadow, this conceals the bag rather than patting concealer on top of it which would highlight it more.

The runways throughout the Caribbean are celebrating our eclectic colour pallettes, our versatile silhouettes, our multi-dimensional texturing. Call it ethnic, exotic, even eccentric, our implicit island sensibility is capturing the world by storm and captivating its fashionistas. For the season, give a gift of style or simply show up and show off in style, in a signature designer brand that speaks volumes about your taste, your vibe, your aura.
Kez Artistry by Khadijah: Never pull the skin around your eyes. This will cause sagging. Gently PAT eye moisturizer and concealer with ring finger when applying. Richard Young: To help you find the right shade of foundation, choose the product you think is closest to your color and try it on your jawline in natural light. You will easily be able to compare it to your neck’s color to see if you need to go for a different undertone, lighter or darker. D
uring this crazy Carnival period filled with excess, wanton debauchery and ribald it is good to find some balance. Shane Rizon Gibson is one avenue that provides that balance. His uplifting, but no less entertaining fare has been a staple of the local gospel/conscious fraternity for some time, but with his latest release falling smack dab in the middle of T&T’s festive season people now have an option to the bacchanal. ET&T caught up with Rizon to hear his take on his new track and more. ET&T: A ridiculous number of murders to start 2013, yet people seem largely unaffected by it. Artistes are still wining and jamming their way to Carnival Monday and Tuesday. Do you think artistes should play a more influential role as far as their content with the power they possess? Rizon: Music is so influential. Music can soothe and calm or music can rile and excite. Words sung over and over are internalized and shapes the way we think (be it consciously or subconsciously). I love soca music, but as artistes we need to give the nation new words to sing along to… words that can build up. I believe that the studio is like a furnace, and the artiste either forges tools that build, or weapons that destroy. Unfortunately, weapons are the biggest money making business in the world. ET&T: Would you accept the opportunity to perform at one of the traditional fetes in a bid to spread your positive message or do you prefer to stay in your niche and not align yourself with that type of environment? Rizon: I am willing to go anywhere music is appreciated. Still I do have a preference for audiences who love strong lyrics, vocals and melody. I have had experience on several carnival stages years gone by and there were some instances where I have performed before crowds who
ET&T: Are there any so called secular soca singers whose music you listen to and like? Rizon: Hmm, I truly respect a lot of our soca artistes, but for me, I have to take soca music song for song. I may not have a favorite secular soca artiste, but there are definitely songs that stand out that I can listen to and enjoy. ET&T: How did you spend Christmas? Rizon: It was great. Christmas into New Years was spent with family and good friends. I still managed to do a few shows and hit the studio during that time as well. were exclusively interested in music that encourages them to let loose and breakaway (to put it mildly). I am not that artiste (chuckles). So on that note, I am generally pickier about the shows I do, during the Carnival season. ET&T: People tend to look at Christians or positive people like Ned Flanders from the Simpsons. You are one person with an always cool demeanor. When was the last time you got mad and blew up? Rizon: (Laughs) I get mad quite regularly actually. I struggle with inconsiderate drivers and poor customer service, and we happen to have both things in abundance in T&T (Lol). I don’t blow up in public though. I might blow up in my car with the window all the way up. ET&T: What was the creative process like behind your new single Higher Level? Rizon: I’ve been in the music business for the past 7 years. Biblically the number 7 is significant as it marks completion. As 2013 was coming to a close, so many blessings were being poured into my life. My walk with God was
growing stronger and my vision for the future was becoming clearer. Everything was pointing to a higher level, the lyrics and music therefore flowed organically. Interestingly enough only after I started working on the track in studio with Richard ‘Charsu’ Ahong, I remembered that 7 years before, he had produced my first ever radio release entitled ‘Reach’. It was just perfect. ET&T: The public thinks artistes have it easy. Share some of the toughest things about a career in entertainment. Rizon: Firstly music is expensive and time consuming. Marketing the music is expensive and time consuming. And very often, the expenses exceed the income and this is why so many artistes cannot do music full time. They need that regular job for that additional buffer. Now having invested all that time money and effort, to have the general public not appreciate it or worse yet not even get the opportunity to appreciate it, because it isn’t given radio airplay is probably the toughest part. ET&T: How much does it generally cost to produce and record a radio single? Rizon: Prices vary across producers
ET&T: What was your New Year’s resolution? Rizon: Wow. There are so many. But to sum it up – E-V-E-R-T-H-I-N-G Higher Level to the glory of God. ET&T: What do you have planned for your next release? Rizon: After Carnival music is in the works, working with some amazing producers in and out of T&T. Gearing up for an album, so I’m building an army of songs. ET&T: When can we expect the album to drop? Rizon: Hmm… I’m hoping for midyear, But the touring may push it back a little, I’ll have to do my best and see how things work out. ET&T: When you are done with your career what three words should best describe you? Rizon: Successful. Impactful. Faithful. ET&T: Anything else to add? Rizon: Follow me, follow me, follow me on faceboook.com/ rizonmusic, twitter.com/rizonmusic, instagram.com/rizonmusic and rizonmusic.com. EVERYTHING RIZONMUSIC.

Merry Lil Ones
here is nothing like the sight of a happy child to put you in a good mood. EspecialT ly after all the atrocities against children that
have been happening in the country locally. During the Christmas season one popular event promoter decided to give back to the kids with his annual junior Christmas party. The event saw children enjoy a variety of games and treats and there was a visit from Santa as well. ET&T loves the kids, so we visited the event to share in their happy moment and spread the joy to our readers and fans.

Hoping For A Better 2014 T
he year has come and gone and trust us when we say that it was one of the most taxing periods the Fashion Police have faced. The scourge of chest and neck powdery contraband still exists. Rolly Polly’s are still rocking horizontal stripes and there is a whole heap of other crap that would make the fashion Gods want to smite us. However, there is hope. We would gladly be out of jobs if fashion felons were to clean up their act in 2014. Until it becomes a reality,we’ve got our eyes on you
This young lady tried to go for the ‘cute boot’ look in all black at a recent party. Her failure was wearing contrary pink sun glasses with her outfit. The mismatched and oversized shades definitely failed especially as day turned to dusk and she kept wearing them. Maybe it belonged to her friend in the pink.
So you leave your house to hit a party in a seethrough lace top knowing fully well that the bra underneath is a bright red. Now your “headlights” have become stop lights, but you are not stopping. Lock up!

Neymar
Name: Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior Age: 21 (February 5th, 1992) Profession: Soccer player Claim to Fame: Neymar started out in the youth team of Santos, where he was immediately deemed as a future star player. He entered the academy in 1999 and caught the attention of the coaching staff at once. He is considered to be a clever player who displays nice touches, has an eye for goal
and great shot power. For ten years, the forward went through all the “ranks” in the Santos youth system, until he was ready to perform at the higher level. In 2009, the head coach selected Neymar for the first squad. Despite the absence of playing experience at professional level, the young forward was quick to establish himself as a self-confident footballer able to perform as one of the playmakers. These qualities made Neymar a
desirable player for powerful European clubs to have at their disposal. Despite the huge amount of proposals to buy Neymar’s contract out, the club’s management refused them all. Santos preferred to keep him at the club. After grabbing a pro contract in 2009, Neymar started seeing first team daylight soon, becoming an essential player in the squad. He also got a taste of trophy winning, being repeatedly voted the best player and the top scorer of the club. He racked up more than 50 goals for the Brazilian side.
After years of speculation on his future, Neymar finally joined Barcelona in May 2013 for an undisclosed fee. His international debut happened in 2009, when the forward took part in 3 games for the Brazil U-17 team. The 2010/2011 season was lined with 7 appearances made and 9 goals netted for the U-20 squad. In 2010, Neymar was granted his debut for the Brazil senior squad. He had a lot of successful runs with his national side, appearing more than 45 times and amassing almost 30 goals.
