HEALTH, NUTRITION & WASH ABOUT WORLD VISION TANZANIA World Vision Tanzania (WVT) is a Christian development, relief and advocacy non-governmental organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. WVT targets to directly improve the sustained well-being of 1.6 million girls and boys – especially the most vulnerable. Present in Tanzania for more than 30 years, we partner with governments at the national, regional and local levels, faith-based organizations, and other NGOs.
Alert and Advocating for Better Healthcare Supporting and advocating for the health needs of children at the grassroots, regional and national levels is a top priority for World Vision Tanzania. We empower families through our Citizen Voice and Action model, where community members learn about their rights and are encouraged to hold local governments accountable for better services. Communities are encouraged to take responsibility for their own healthcare, especially for children, mothers and pregnant women. Our global Child Health Now campaign promotes policies that set a new standard for maternal and newborn health.

WHAT
WE DO
Nutrition Means Life for Young Children Working hand in hand with parents and caregivers in Nutrition Groups, World Vision Tanzania uses the Positive Deviance/Hearth and Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) models to sustainably reduce malnutrition and growth stunting in children under age 5. Our Integrated Community Health Works (ICHW) programmes function in conjunction with local governments to train Community Health Workers (CHWs), Supervisors and CHW Trainers to promote healthful practices such as early initiation and exclusive breastfeeding for newborns, dietary diversification, micronutrient supplementation, disease prevention and workload reduction for pregnant and lactating mothers. Through our Child Health Now campaign we utilize best practices in fighting stunting, underweight, wasting and infant and maternal mortality.

Safe & Accessible: Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Clean water and good sanitation and hygiene are essential for minimizing the risk of infection and disease. World Vision Tanzania partners with local district councils and communities to design, construct, manage and renovate water infrastructure to make clean water sustainably accessible to all households. Additionally, our educational programmes in schools and public seminars bring about behavioral changes and improved hygiene.
