Horticultural Association


Who we are The Tanzania Horticultural Association (TAHA) is an apex private sector member based organization that advocates for the growth and competitiveness of the horticultural industry in Tanzania. Since its inception in 2004, TAHA has been an effective voicing platform for producers, traders, exporters and processors of the horticultural products mainly; owers, fruits, vegetables, horticultural seeds, and spices and tubers. The Association safeguards the interests of the private sector and ensures that the industry issues are well mainstreamed in the national and international agenda. TAHA works to strengthen the Tanzanian horticultural industry by uniting and coordinating the industry value chain actors under one roof. The overarching objective of TAHA is to promote and develop the horticultural industry in Tanzania for inclusive growth, viability, and sustainability.

TAHA implements its commercial activities to complement its development thrust by promoting and mainstreaming business oriented mindsets and practices in the sector and enhancing the financial sustainability of the Association. The current commercial division of TAHA is in the provision of industry logistics (air and sea freighting, trucking, clearing and forwarding, cargo handling) and marketing services through TAHAFRESH Handling Ltd and Fresh2Sokoni Ltd respectively. The companies provide TAHA with additional strengths and resources to reasonably provide and maintain quality, reliable, affordable and sustainable demand-driven market access services to the industry.

In pursuit of our Vision and Mission, TAHA in collaboration with stakeholders shall be guided by the following six core values:  Social and business oriented - Promoting entrepreneurship, improved

Our Footprint TAHA operates in 9 regions in Tanzania, and the regions include; Manyara,Dodoma,Mwanza,Tanga, Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Morogoro, Iringa, Njombe, Pwani, Dar es Salaam, Unguja and Pemba in Zanzibar. We implement our activities through cluster system as an entry point within the targeted communities. Presently, we have 8 clusters in the respective regions.


Our work Fosters favorable conditions for business operations TAHA maintains a positive dialogue with the Government of Tanzania, development partners, private sector partners and civil society organizations to ensure that there are policy and regulatory

frameworks that support the horticultural industry. TAHA develops strategic relationships and linkages to support its activities and work in the industry. We also link farmers with financial institutions for affordable financial and input loans and grants.


Provides technical support services TAHA mobilizes farmers into formal entities and build their institutional capacity. We streamline outreach services from national to grass-root level while scaling up adoption of production technologies. The initiatives focus on innovating, packaging and delivering quality technical support services that change the livelihood of beneficiaries, their families and surrounding communities.The gist is to improve farmers’ production and productivity levels for expanded income and food and nutrition security.

Facilitates access to markets and trade TAHA advises members on proper compliance to market standards, establishes post-harvest infrastructure, and provides industry logistics services through its leading logistics company,

TAHAFresh Handling Ltd. It also creates market linkages, connecting farmers with domestic and international partners for lasting and rewarding business relationships as well as providing platform for accessing industry information.

Promotes the horticultural industry through communications and information management TAHA ensures that the industry is well profiled by broadcasting the successes and development of its members, and that of the industry. This and other promotional activities translate to the strength of the Association, and contribute towards generating positive interest among partners at different levels. TAHA also manages its proprietary TAHA Information System (TIS) that provides members with a competitive databased advantage in the market.

TAHA believes in the spirit of public and private partnership in realizing its vision and mission. The Association actively engages with government institutions and agencies, Development Partners, Private Sector companies and platforms, regional and international bodies to mention but a few in its strategy to promote inclusive industry growth and sustainability. We strategically position ourselves to identify, manage and retain transformative partnerships.

a) Comprehensive: These include big producers, exporters, and processors of horticultural related products. b) Allied: Include suppliers of agro inputs, and other service providers in the industry such as consultancy companies, development projects, etc c) Associate: These include small growers’ groups/ associations, and individuals taking part in horticultural activities.
