For cruise ships departing from Australia or New Zealand, 95% of guests over the age of 12 are required to be vaccinated (at least two doses of an approved vaccine). The remaining 5% of unvaccinated guests will need to provide proof of a medical exemption.
You will need to mask up during check-in whilst inside the cruise terminal and during embarkation and disembarkation. Onboard some cruise ships, masks are also required or recommended to be worn indoors (except when eating or drinking) and when you cannot socially distance.
To ensure the safety of guests cruise lines have introduced a number of changes. This includes increased ventilation and sanitation, additional medical staff on board and most cruise lines offer quarantine facilities if a passenger tests positive on board. Most cruise lines are also moving away from traditional muster drills by delivering the drill through apps and are introducing selfserve buffets where passengers can help themselves.
