What’s Inside Hello and welcome to the latest edition of the Borough Link.

This year has brought many challenges with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. As we continue on the road to recovery, this edition reflects on the last few months and looks to the future as we reshape and rebuild our local economy and protect our people across the borough. The pandemic is the most serious public health crisis of our time. Turn to our community support section (pages 6-7) to read about the community response and together with the community and voluntary sector we rallied together to assist the most vulnerable and those at risk during the crisis. Protecting our people and improving the health and wellbeing of our citizens remains one of our key priorities as we move forward.

I know that many members of our community have been living through unprecedented times and I hope that you are keeping safe and as well as you can. It has been truly heart-warming to see the fantastic efforts of our communities who have worked tirelessly to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic and I want to commend them for their continued efforts.

Lord Mayor’s Message

I think it is safe to say that I have had a very different start to my term in office than that of previous Lord Mayors but I am very much looking forward to the year ahead.

5

I hope throughout my term to get out and about around the borough as I’m looking forward to meeting the many groups and organisations. Local businesses need your help more than ever. I encourage you to support the Boost Our Borough campaign by shopping, dining and staying local to sustain jobs and revive our economy on the road to recovery.

6

My chosen charity for my term in office is Macmillan Cancer Support and I hope to raise funds for this great cause throughout the year. It is a charity very dear to my heart, one that helped my family through difficult times and I am very proud to be able to use my role to raise awareness and muchneeded funds to help them in whatever way I can. Please continue to stay safe and look after your families, friends and neighbours.

Recycle glass in your Green Bin

Adopt a Street!

Do you have a green recycling bin? Did you know you can now recycle glass in your green bin?

While the street cleansing teams regularly clean hotspot areas in our borough covering over 10,000 miles, it’s impossible for them to be everywhere.

All households with a green recycling bin can now include glass with their recycling materials. Glass bottles and jars are now accepted in all green bins across the borough. Previously, some residents had to place glass in a caddy inside their green bin and some other residents could not include glass at all. However, we have now enabled residents to place glass bottles and jars directly into your green recycling bin. All colours of glass bottles and jars can be disposed in green household recycling bins. These include jam and coffee jars, wine, beer and spirit bottles, sauce bottles and baby food jars. Glass bottles and jars should be rinsed out and clean. Non-recyclable glass including window pane glass, mirrors, light bulbs, ceramics or crockery such as cups and drinking glasses must not be placed in green household recycling bins. For further information or enquiries about recycling please download the free Bin-Ovation app, or visit armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk/recycling

BOROUGH LINK 2020

The incredible volunteers for the Adopt-A-Street scheme help alleviate this pressure by spending their free time cleaning up a specific area of the borough, playing their part in making the place look beautiful for residents and visitors. One of the groups involved is Ballymacnab Green Spaces. The group is made up of a team of multi-generational volunteers who are driven to make a difference. They encourage members to be proud of their area and pull together to help the environment through regular litter picks, landscaping and environmental education throughout the year. The group was recently awarded funding from Live Here Love Here, one of our environmental partners through Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful. In the latest round of funding 46 excellent projects throughout the borough were awarded a total of £17,552 in grants ranging from £500 to £5,000. COMMUNITY

Would you like to live in a Neighbourhood Watch area? Everyone deserves to feel safe at home, and living in a neighbourhood watch area is a great way of giving you and your neighbours peace of mind.

COVID-19

Community Support Hub During the Covid-19 pandemic, our Community Support Hub was a lifeline to people experiencing difficulties. Below is an anonymised account of a typical afternoon working with the community and voluntary sector. “A referral came in to the community hub one afternoon, requesting help with food for an individual with specific health needs. When our helpline advisor spoke to the individual, it became apparent that the individual was in urgent need. Without furniture or cooking equipment, a food parcel was of limited benefit to them and the budget for takeaway food had run out. “The support officer immediately contacted the local St Vincent De Paul branch who provided vouchers for electric, gas and food. Arrangements were made to have a hot lunch delivered for the next few days while a community care grant was being processed. The officer then got in touch with a local church community and, by working together, they sourced almost everything the individual needed and even enlisted the help of the local foodbank so they were finally able to cook their own food. “This all happened over the course of a few hours - never underestimate how much impact a few people can make in such a short space of time!” For assistance or more information free phone 0808 802 0020, email abccommunitysupport@ armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk or visit armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk/ communitysupporthub

If you don’t have one in your area, why not set one up? Maybe you volunteered during the Covid-19 pandemic and enjoyed meeting others and helping those more vulnerable in your community, or maybe you had to shield or self-isolate and understand how important it is to have someone looking out for you. Either way, it’s a great way of fostering community spirit and helping make our areas safer. Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) is a partnership between local communities, the Police and the Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP). Its aim is to help people protect themselves and their property, and to reduce the fear of crime. There are currently over 200 NHW schemes with 240 NHW co-ordinators throughout the borough, with three new schemes starting during the Covid-19 pandemic. Contribute to ABC Seniors Network Recipe Book Age-Friendly Officer Stephanie Rock is working with ABC Seniors Network to develop a recipe book capturing traditional recipes to give our loved local recipes a new lease of life! We would love you to share your own (or a handeddown) recipe and story with us so they can be part of the book. If you would like to know more about the recipe book or any of our services for older people, contact Stephanie Rock, AgeFriendly Officer on 078 2501 0630 stephanie.rock@ armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk or ABC Seniors Network on 078 7333 9423. The project was inspired by ABC Seniors Network member Margaret’s story of how her traditional scones became ‘celebrities’: “When we semi-retired, my husband Ronnie and I went on an Alaskan cruise, the Celebrity Princess. It was a trip of a lifetime and the food was exceptional apart from one thing - the scones! When the waiter asked if there was something wrong, Ronnie replied “Yes, you’d need my wife to show you how to make scones!” “A few hours later I received an invitation to meet the Head Chef and Pastry Chef in the kitchen. After making a small batch, they were so delighted with my scones that they asked me to work out the ingredients for a batch of 100 there and then. “The following morning we were guests at the Captain’s table where they served my fresh scones, cream and strawberries on a silver platter. After thanking me again, they asked what I’d like in return for my delicious recipe. I replied, “Just enjoy the scones and let your passengers enjoy them too.” “At breakfast from then on, we enjoyed the sight of a tray with fresh scones and a notice saying ‘Try Margaret’s Traditional Irish Scones’. “I hope you all give my ‘Celebrity’ scones a try and if you have a recipe that never fails, share it and let others enjoy it too!”

BOROUGH LINK 2020

Margaret’s ‘Celebrity’ Traditional Irish Scones INGREDIENTS 12oz (340g) soda bread flour 2 tablespoons caster sugar (optional) 2 medium eggs beaten 1-2 tablespoons sunflower oil 7oz (200ml) or 180-200g buttermilk Optional: 4oz (113g) dried or fresh fruit METHOD 1. Combine dry ingredients together in a bowl, then combine eggs, sunflower oil and half of the buttermilk. 2. Mix all together with metal spoon, then add remaining buttermilk. 3. You should have a soft consistency (wetter than the normal scone mixture). 4. Put mixture out onto a lightly floured board and knead lightly. 5. Cut into scones (depending on the size of the cutter you should get 20 small, 14 medium or 9 large). 6. Place scones on a floured baking tin close together (this will help them keep their shape). 7. Bake on middle shelf at 200c for 12-14 minutes. 8. Lift scones off baking tray onto cooling rack. 9. If you want a soft-top scone, place a damp clean drying cloth on top.

How safe is your home?

Did you know that more people are injured in their own home than anywhere else, with young children and older persons most at risk? The Home Safety team is here to help in raising your awareness of the hazards that are present, and assisting you in putting measures in place to minimise accidents within your home. With advice on a wide range of topics, preventing falls, fires, carbon monoxide, blind cords, choking, burns & scalds, poisoning, it is important to get in touch and see how we can help. If you have a child under the age of 5, are over 65, or a vulnerable adult or young person, perhaps experiencing mobility issues, or have a family member with special needs, you can contact us. We are currently operating a phone service, providing free home safety assessments. Following an assessment, you may be entitled to some free safety equipment. Referrals can be made to other organisations to assist you, e.g. free smoke alarm fitting. For more information on home accident prevention or to book a home safety assessment, call 0300 0300 900 or email homesafety@ armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk

Most people carrying the virus don’t know they have it and can infect others unintentionally. Wearing a face covering can help to prevent this from happening. We urge you to think carefully about the risk you pose to loved ones and others by not doing so. We all must do everything possible to limit the transmission of Covid-19. As well as wearing a face covering, everyone should continue to practise social distancing, wash your hands well and often, have a good respiratory hygiene and avoid touching your face. We also urge as many people as possible to download the StopCOVID NI app.

Face coverings are now a legal requirement and should be worn in shops, enclosed spaces and public transport to help protect you and others.

Exemptions apply to places such as restaurants, cafes and banks etc. The legislation does not apply to children under 13, or those who cannot wear a mask because of health or disability reasons. More information and guidance on the use of face coverings, including why they are needed, how to make one, and how they should be worn is available at nidirect.gov.uk/face-coverings

We have a collective duty and a personal responsibility to protect each other, and everyone who can wear a face covering should do so. BOROUGH LINK 2020

HEALTH & WELLBEING

COVID-19

Health & Wellbeing Support The Covid-19 pandemic represents the biggest and most serious public health crisis of our time. When lockdown restrictions came into effect, we rallied together in ways never seen before to mitigate against the negative impact of Covid-19 on the health and wellbeing of our citizens. Over the past few months, we’ve been robust in our response efforts to keep everyone safe and informed, physically active, mentally strong and emotionally resilient while adapting to a new way of life. Here is an overview of the unstinting support we provided.

Shared key messages from the Public Health Agency about reducing the risk of infection through staying at home, regular hand washing and keeping 2m apart while also keeping you abreast of the evolving situation around Covid-19.

Supported the Southern Health and Social Care Trust in communicating how key services from maternity to mental health were being delivered differently due to Covid-19.

Created a dedicated section on our website so that you could find trusted and reliable information about maintaining optimum health during lockdown in one central location.

Encouraged everyone to take extra care of their mental health by incorporating the ‘5 steps to wellbeing’ into everyday life - connecting with friends and family, being active, taking notice, keep learning and giving.

10 BOROUGH LINK 2020

Created a local directory of key support services and helplines signposting those in crisis to counsellors specialising in mental health, bereavement, addiction, domestic abuse, family relationships etc. We also promoted Helplines NI and directed you to over 30 support services operating across Northern Ireland. Promoted a constant stream of healthy lifestyle messages from the Public Health Agency and shared its Covid-19, Healthcare NI and StopCOVID NI apps.

Helped you keep active at home by creating our own extensive library of online exercise videos suitable for all ages, abilities and interests, and encouraged your participation in virtual exercise challenges such as C25K, Daily Mile at Home and Macmillan Move More’s Round the World.

Advised you on how to stay safe when grocery shopping, preparing and handling food safely as well as promoting the importance of healthy eating.

Signposted people in high-risk groups or living with health conditions such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes to dedicated Covid-19 support hubs so that they could get the right advice about staying healthy while shielding.

Supported a variety of national health awareness campaigns such as Mental Health Awareness Week, Men’s Health Week, Diabetes Week, Loneliness Awareness Week and Child Safety Week.

Provided safety advice with a view to reducing the number of home accidents and easing the pressure on A&E.

Encouraged fun and educational learning at home for children by promoting activities recommended by PlayBoard NI.

Engaged with children and inspired them to be creative through initiatives such as ‘ABC Get Creative - what makes you happy?’ and ‘My Covid-19 Time Capsule’.

Organised a Get Active Outdoors six-week physical activity programme over the summer aimed at getting children, adults and families across the borough exercising more outdoors.

HEALTH & WELLBEING

The Covid-19 pandemic continues to take its toll on the nation’s mental health.

EVERY MIND

MATTERS

Social distancing, isolation, chronic stress, financial hardship and job insecurity are among a host of factors contributing to mental ill health. The government has underlined its commitment to prioritise mental health as recent developments demonstrate.

Mental Health Action Plan In May Health Minister Robin Swann published the Mental Health Action Plan as part of his commitment to improve the mental health of people in Northern Ireland.

I am delighted to have the opportunity to ensure that the voices of those who struggle with their mental health are heard

There are 38 actions contained within the plan, including a commitment to produce a Mental Health Strategy which will include a comprehensive funding plan for mental health. This plan also includes the government’s response to the Covid-19 crisis. w Download the Mental Health Action Plan at

health-ni.gov.uk/publications/mental-health-action-plan

This plan is the first in a series of steps I will take to ensure those suffering from mental ill health will be able to access the services they need when they need them

Mental Health Champion Ulster University academic Professor Siobhan O’Neill was appointed interim Mental Health Champion for Northern Ireland in June. Her role is to bring mental health issues to the very top of the policy agenda and to act as both a government advocate and challenger of decisions. As work on the Mental Health Strategy progresses, we will pro-actively engage with central government and the Mental Health Champion to ensure the needs of people in this borough are taken into account and addressed.

EXPLGROERATE THE

OUTDOORS

NEW GIS MAP LAUNCHED TO SHOWCASE OUTDOOR LEISURE AMENITIES ACROSS THE BOROUGH.

Lockdown has certainly encouraged a renewed love of the great outdoors, with governmental rules allowing for daily exercise during the pandemic, people were able to take time out to enjoy exploring outdoors again. This unique period has had a major impact on the outdoor activity habits of people across the borough, of all age ranges, with many people taking up new hobbies. We are delighted to see the surge in popularity, and our Outdoor Leisure team are continuing to engage with the public to maintain this new sense of appreciation for our outdoor spaces. We strive to champion our parks and open spaces as positive places to get active in, and to increase awareness about the physical and mental health benefits of participating in outdoor activities. Our borough has so much to offer local residents and visitors, from Armagh’s Palace Demesne to the wide green spaces of parks in Lurgan,

Loughgall and Gosford Forest, to the southern shores of Lough Neagh, with some of Northern Ireland’s best havens for relaxation and recreation, and many hidden gems that make it an ideal destination for an adventurous day out for all the family. To encourage and inspire people to come and visit, we have launched a Get Active Outdoors GIS Map that enables users to view information on the wide variety of outdoor spaces available across the borough. It showcases all council parks and open spaces, walking and cycling trails, play parks, and outdoor activity facilities, providing access to up-to-date information at the touch of a button. Our aim is to get everyone active, by using the link to plan their next trip into our great outdoors. armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk/ getoutdoors

TOP 5 REASONS TO GET INVOLVED EXERCISE CONTROLS WEIGHT GAIN

EXERCISE AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY ARE GREAT WAYS TO HELP YOU FEEL BETTER, BOOST YOUR HEALTH AND HAVE FUN. That is why our Get Active Community promotes the benefits of physical activity for everyone. Customer safety is the top priority within all our leisure facilities, which is why we have introduced a range of Health and Safety measures to keep customers and staff safe due to Covid-19. To find out more about safety guidance or what is on offer in your area, visit getactiveabc.com or drop into your nearest leisure centre for friendly advice and guidance.

If you’re suffering from ‘lockdown overload’ or just looking to tone up, doing more exercise can help manage excess weight gain. When you engage in physical activity, you burn calories. The more intense the activity, the more calories you burn. But remember any amount of activity is better than none.

EXERCISE HELPS COMBAT HEALTH CONDITIONS

Regular exercise helps prevent or manage many health problems and concerns, including: stroke, metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, depression, anxiety, and arthritis.

EXERCISE CAN IMPROVE YOUR MOOD

Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that can leave you feeling happier, more relaxed and less anxious. You may also feel better about your appearance and yourself when you exercise regularly, which can boost your energy, confidence, and self-esteem.

EXERCISE PROMOTES BETTER SLEEP

If you struggle to sleep, regular physical activity can help you fall asleep faster, and improve your sleep quality.

EXERCISE CAN BE FUN… AND SOCIAL!

Exercise and physical activity can be enjoyable, giving you a chance to unwind, enjoy some time out, or simply engage in activities that make you feel good. Physical activity can also help you connect with family or friends in a fun social setting.

Located outside Markethill, Gosford Forest Park invites you to weave your way around the woodland estate and discover the ultimate play adventure. Complementing the existing miles of walking and cycling trails the new outdoor adventure play trails were designed using the most natural materials from wood and rope, and exquisitely landscaped to sympathetically blend with Gosford’s beautiful surroundings. With £1.6m already invested to establish Gosford Forest Park on an unprecedented scale across the island of Ireland it offers maximum play value, inclusivity and challenge for children of all ages. We were delighted to work with Outdoor Recreation NI, Doran Consulting Ltd, award-winning architects Davies White Ltd and contractor Gerald Davies Ltd to deliver the £850,000 development, which was part-funded under the Rural Tourism Scheme of the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs.

Here to

HELP We understand it’s not always easy for small businesses to get the right advice and support, which is why our Business Support Hub does all the leg work for you.

Taking on new roles and responsibilities, the multi-departmental team continues to work together to address the ongoing needs and concerns of the local business community. On the front line of the Business Support team, Noelle Garvey from our Economic Development department tells us a bit more:

As the uncertainty and complexity of Covid-19 mounted in early March, supporting our local businesses through the crisis became our number one priority. Joining the Business Support team alongside my colleagues, we helped field hundreds of enquiries from a wide range of sectors. From helping businesses access government grants to providing practical advice and support including how to reopen safely - every day brought its own challenges but it was also very rewarding. Personally and professionally, it’s been a real privilege to play my part in helping support our local businesses through the pandemic and now in this post Covid-19 world.

Listening to the needs of your company, our Business Support Hub acts as a one-stop business support shop, helping identify and match your business to a relevant and experienced mentor. Offering free, tailored and independent advice, the hub’s mentors have helped local businesses navigate the uncertainty of Covid-19, as well as provided assistance around digital marketing and innovation, supply chain management and tendering to win new business. Paul McCullough from Pro Image NI outlines how it has helped him:

The support and guidance I received through the hub has been a real lifeline to me and my business. Faced with the many issues brought on by Covid-19, just like so many other local businesses, the advice from my mentor, Eoin Lennon of Oininteractive, helped me turn a crisis into an opportunity. With Eoin’s skills and knowledge, we were able to develop my website further and introduce an exclusive online shopping platform for our clients, enabling us to sell online during the lock down period, without a doubt helping the business stay afloat. There was never too big a problem for Eoin and I would encourage all small businesses to find out how the Hub can help them.

BUSINESS

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant and unprecedented impact on our local economy, causing many businesses in our borough to face new and complex challenges. The impact of closures, uncertain public health environment, and the economic pressures on our citizens, will have a longlasting effect on businesses and the local economy for many years.

With strict public health and social distancing restrictions the new norm, we understand how we do business and how we shop has changed.

From the onset of the pandemic, we have played a leading role in liaising with key economic stakeholders, engaging with local businesses and delivering awareness campaigns to stimulate investment during this crucially important time. We have also championed the importance of local residents to support local businesses to help sustain employment and revive the economy. In June we launched the ‘Boost Our Borough’ awareness campaign, in which ‘Bob’ encouraged local residents and people from outside the borough to show their support for our local business community. Bob’s shop local, dine local and stay local messages showcased all aspects of the borough’s economy in a fun and engaging way, creating a lot of interest.

20 BOROUGH LINK 2020

Helping address the concerns of our local businesses, residents and visitors is a key priority for us, which is why we are leading on the development and implementation of a borough wide business revitalisation initiative. In partnership with our key statutory partners, the recovery campaign is helping support the safe trading practices for our rural and urban businesses, ensuring the protection of customers and staff. Through our Covid-19 Revitalisation Grant Fund, many of our local businesses have received financial assistance to support investment in projects and equipment to address some of the operational challenges brought on by the pandemic. To hear more about the initiatives email regen@armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk

BUSINESS

Pavement cafés are becoming a familiar sight across the UK and Ireland, helping foster the rise of a new continental-style café culture. Already known to have positive effects on the vibrancy and vitality of urban centres, they are now playing an important role in helping support businesses recover from the Covid-19 pandemic right here in the borough. Introducing the option for businesses to apply for a pavement café licence since July, we have been helping support our local hospitality businesses get back on their feet as safely as possible. Experiencing a significant dent to their capacity due to public health and social distancing restrictions, local businesses offering food and drink can now apply free of charge for a licence, helping them reclaim some of those lost profit margins. With the placement of temporary tables, chairs, umbrellas and heaters in outdoor public spaces, we are committed to safeguarding the interests of all pedestrians, in particular those with mobility needs as well as blind and visually impaired pavement users. To ensure everyone’s safety all licensees will receive clear instructions on size, layout and boundaries.

Life may have been on pause recently but now as restrictions have eased, you can begin to explore the borough’s beautiful outdoors, countryside, attractions and discover our historic landmarks once more. From the historic Navan Centre & Fort to the scenic southern shores of Lough Neagh along the foothills of the Mourne Mountains, our borough is home to some of Northern Ireland’s best havens, and many hidden gems perfect for relaxation, recreation and outdoor pursuits. Discover and rediscover a love for our borough, experience the exceptional and award-winning service from our local guest houses, hotels, bars and restaurants and enjoy a relaxing staycation where you can take in the heritage, culture and savour some delicious foodie delights. Or why not try one of our staycation itineraries, which will see you dust down your walking boots and bicycles to meander your way through the stunning local landscapes. With so much to see and do right on your doorstep, you’re guaranteed an exceptional experience in this remarkable place. Working closely with Tourism Northern Ireland, we will be promoting a wide variety of things to do, see and enjoy. Discover it all here visitarmagh.com

Approved temporary pavement café licences will be granted until 31 December 2021. Further information on the new initiative and how to apply here armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk/pavementcafe

MID SOUTH WEST REGION

Northern Ireland’s Economic Engine Delivering new and better jobs, greater investment and inclusive economic growth is the focus of a new Regional Economic Strategy developed by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and Mid Ulster District Council.

With a commitment of ÂŁ252m growth deal funding from the NI Executive and Westminster Government, the Mid South West Regional Economic Strategy charts a course for significant investment across the three council areas, collectively known as the Mid South West Region.

The Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and Mid Ulster District Council areas make up the Mid South West Region.

What will the strategy do? By harnessing the growth deal funding and other funding streams, the Mid South West Regional Economic Strategy will address everything from infrastructure to tourism and is based on four broad economic pillars:

Representing a quarter of the NI population and a third of all businesses, the region has sectoral strengths in manufacturing, engineering, agri-food, health and life sciences, tourism and construction. Transforming Dromore Town Centre Transformative public realm projects continue to make a positive impact, with Dromore town centre benefiting from an ambitious, £1.4m programme of improvements.

Building on the regeneration schemes already achieved in Lurgan, Richhill, Keady and Portadown, these environmental improvements are important to ensure the future vitality of our towns and villages. Work began in March 2020 to deliver a dynamic regeneration scheme to develop and enrich the historic Dromore Town Centre, thanks to funding from the Department for Communities and Department for Infrastructure. This impressive scheme will improve the quality and physical appearance of the urban town centre, creating an environment to reconnect communities while enhancing the town’s rich built heritage. Work is currently underway in the Market Square, Church Street and Bridge Street areas of the town. The scheme includes resurfacing footways in natural stone, upgraded street lighting with the installation of street furniture, tree planting and bespoke features to complement and reflect the historic fabric of Dromore town centre. A public liaison officer is available on site to assist businesses and residents with any queries - located at the former Ulster Bank building. With the works expected to complete by spring 2021, we are delighted to work in partnership with local traders and businesses to transform the town.

Cooperation Scheme • Invested almost £500,000 • Supported three collaborative initiatives

Rural villages and communities reap the benefits of over £6m investment since the introduction of the NI Rural Development Programme. With nearly 100 villages and small settlements across our borough, these important areas represent a huge part of our identity, community and economy - and supporting their ongoing development through this programme’s funding is the sole mission of local action group, SOAR ABC. Playing a pivotal role in enhancing and enriching the lives of our rural communities, SOAR ABC has helped deliver a diverse range of rural initiatives, from environmental improvement works, enhanced community

centres to supporting business innovation and growth projects as well as driving co-operation projects with neighbouring local action groups. With their support, many rural communities for example now benefit from inclusive and accessible recreation facilities, helping support their physical and mental wellbeing as well as helping combat loneliness and social isolation in these areas. Moreover, they have also helped stimulate the creation of 114 new local jobs, helping ensure a sustainable and viable rural economy. For more information email info@soarni.org or visit soarni.org
