WINGS NEWSLETTER

Vol 14, Term Three, Week Eight, 13 September 2019

Dear Parents and Friends of Sunderland Tena koutou, tena koutou, tena koutou katoa. What’s in this issue: This week has been Maori Language week and across the school. There have been numerous activities held to celebrate Te Reo here at ACG Sunderland. From Maori games, practising Maori vocabulary to Maori Marae protocols. The Primary also shared a hangi today. Thank you to the festivals committee for organising activities in the College too. I wish to congratulate Mason Wang on his results at the recent AIM’s games held in Tauranga this week: 3rd in 100m Butterfly 4th in 50m Butterfly 7th 200m IM, 7th 50m Backstroke and 8th100m Backstroke. This event serves as the National Championship for Year Seven and Year Eight sports, making this an outstanding successes.

Chess results, Girls National Championship Year Seven and Year Eight. Wonderful results for the girls who won this event. Anya Thurner Yolanda Chang Sophia Feng MiuMiu Jin What makes the results even more special is the fact that Sophia and MiuMiu are both in Year Four. Congratulations to our team. On Wednesday night I attended our annual Itinerant Music Concert held in the Auditorium. Every year the event gets larger, as more and more of our students learn a musical instrument here at ACG Sunderland. Huge congratulations to all the musicians who had the confidence to play their instrument in front of their family and friends. This year Erin Geraghty was the MC. She did a wonderful job (some excellent jokes too!). Special thanks to all our Itinerant Music teachers who continue to teach our students, and to Mr O’Connor who oversees the entire programme.
