Luxer One Lockers Usher in a New Era of No-Contact Retail

The way consumers order, and pick-up products is being changed by both short-term and long-term solutions that are being crafted to support contact-free experiences, including smart retail lockers. American company Luxer One created smart lockers for retailers inspiring nocontact experience that can be had around the clock. These modular lockers are the latest innovation in the buy-online-pickupin-store (BOPIS) business model, offering retail customers comfortable and convenient 24-hour, no-contact, self-service retrieval and return access using superior technology. "For the customer, it means fast, safe and secure pick-up and return processes that can be done without contact. For the retailer, smart lockers pave the way to a better bottom line due to reduced labor costs; and the technological upgrade allows them to compete in a similar arena with online giants like Amazon“ said Arik Levy, founder and CEO of Luxer One. FRAGRANCE VENDING MACHINE AT GALERIES LAFAYETTE IN PARIS

This summer the very first tailormade vending machine landed exclusively in the ‘La Coupole’ building at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann by & Other Stories. Developed by The Laboratory, the machine will dispense selected products from the retailer’s popular bath and body line in four fragrances: Perle de Coco, Punk Bouquet, Sicilian Sunrise and Arabesque Wood. Customers will be able to purchased hand soap, hand cream, roll-on perfumes and edt from the pilot machine, which if successful, will be scaled to other stores. This project is a collaboration between & Other Stories and The Laboratory, H&M Group.

H&M will let people convert old clothing items into new ones

The Sweden-based retailer H&M is about to start giving consumers at its Stockholm store the option to turn in used garments that it will then transform into one of three different clothing items. Customers will be able to bring in a garment they don't want, which will be cleaned and put into a machine called Looop. The machine will disassemble it, shredding it into fibers that are then used to create new clothing.

The effort comes amid a rising volume of global clothing waste, and growing concern over fast fashion's contribution to it. The company said the recycling process, which can handle more than one garment at a time, doesn't use water or chemicals and sometimes might need "sustainably sourced" raw materials added in, but it hopes to make "this share as small as possible."

VIRTUAL MAKEUP TRY-ON APP FOR SHOPIFY

YouCam Makeup,the virtual makeup try-on solution developed by Perfect Corp, has launched a Shopify plug-in, allowing cosmetics merchants using the platform to offer customers AR beauty services. The application features 25 themed template designs, true-to-life color and texture matching, making for a “hyper-realistic� virtual beauty experience. Virtual makeup try-on services have been proven to increase customer engagement, and drive conversion by up to 2.5x and lead to a decline in return.

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, Perfect Corp has taken a range of actions to support cosmetics retailers. In March, for example, the company temporarily offered beauty brands access to a complimentary AR live training service so that they could keep their employees up to date from a distance .Later, when brick-and-mortar stores began to reopen, the company also introduced new non-touch features to its in-store try-on solution. FIRST REFILLABLE RETAIL BEAUTY OUTLET IN AUTRALIA

Australian retailer Foile has launched the nation’s first refillable beauty outlet. Foile concept store in Sydney offers predominantly skincare products such as serums, cleansers and masques, also including hand and body washes, perfume and a select range of make up.

All Foile Classic products are refillable, which means that once the product is finished the customer is encouraged to bring the bottle back to refill on the spot in store. Foile Friends is a premium range featuring ten luxury brands. The Australian retailer was the first one to offer refills for these brands and will leverage from their strategic strengths. Mukti for example, will repurpose the packaging back into their supply chain and a program will be offered in store for other packaging from skincare or cosmetics to ensure it is recycled efficiently.
