Work Experience Volunteering Experience: The Wildlife Trust, June 2013 – Present The Wildlife Trust is the largest UK voluntary organisation dedicated to protecting wildlife and establishing rich environments for people. At the beginning of Summer 2013 I volunteered to help out with the on-going ‘Living with Nature’ Project; a 3-year programme funded by the Big Lottery which aims to improve and re-design sites within Sheffield housing areas. While with the trust I have produced an array of design visualisations and technical drawings for public projects, as well as being involved in graphic advertisements for local events. This has aided the development of my visual communication along with an enhanced understanding of project funding, materialisation and engagement with site users. Heeley Development Trust, Summer 2012 Heeley development trust is an independent local charity, led by and employing local people. During the summer of 2012 I was granted the opportunity to assist the re designing and construction of Heeley Millennium Park. This involved working as part of a team to construct a detailed scale model of the proposal, along with developing a series of contractors’ drawings for site construction. While working with the Trust I was given great responsibilities which fully engaged me with the project. Volunteering Experience: Bents Green Specialist School, 2012 – Present Bents Green is a specialist school, catering for pupils aged 11-19 with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and Learning Difficulties. On multiple occasions I have volunteered to assist the preparation of the site and the construction of design, along with a team of other volunteering students and school staff. This has been a unique and exciting opportunity. Not only has it been rewarding to see the design from drawing to construction, but it has also proved to be highly enjoyable. It has been refreshing to leave the sketchbook and computer software in the pursuit of an active landscape experience. Past Employment: Devonshire Arms Hotel, Kitchen Staff: 2005 – 2008 I was employed as a general kitchen assistant during weekends while studying my GCSE’s and A-levels. The job involved cleaning, stocking, function preparation and occasional engagement with customers. This was my first experience of paid work, where I learnt how to efficiently work within a group in a stressful kitchen environment, against strict time limits and customer demands.
