ABSTRACTION HOW TO COMMUNICATE THE EXHIBITION? When visitors enter the exhibition room, the first thing they will notice from the entrance is a wall content of an exhibition narration about exhibtion purpose and artist’s background

Those narration become an object that catch visitor attention because its position is parallel to the entrance position.

Other element made those naration more standout is a contrast between those narration ( the only writing in the room ) and paintings around it

Visitor’s circula-on

Exhibition naration in ground floor

From this point, the narration feel so attracting with lighting on it and contrast with other paintings on the same wall

The same thing also happen in the next floor. When visitor go to first floor whether using lift or stairs, they will see a couple of big and attracting paintings. After get close to them, the section narration also shownup behind wall in left.

Those eye catching narration also appear when visitor enter the other exhibition room in the same level

Visitor’s circulation

The same pattern that continuosly repeated even in second floor about narration that become attractor in the first moment visitors arrive in every floor make they understand that those narration is important to starting experience the exhibition

Visitor’s circulation

In this exhibition, the narration is on purpose to become starter/basic knowledge for visitors so they can understand the exhibition.

Basicly the content of those narrations is a general explaination about paintings that placed near those

The explanation is not detail. After reading the narration in every section, the visitors will see many paintings that only has little information attached next to them. The content are code, title, media, artsist’s name, and size. The same as exhibition or section narrations, the painting’s information also general

The design purpose of those two elements then become clear. That the exhibition’s designer do not want to give the whole information about the entire exhibition to the visitors. Its enough to communicate the exhibition through those narrations and paintings informations ony. The result is the visitors will use their background and experience to understand the exhibiton.

This methode is useful because the visitors will look the paintings carefuly and guess what the meaning of each painting. Still, they have a boundary of interpretating created by those narrations and painting’s information that they have read first. Then the exhibitor able to communicate the exhibition but still let the visitors to think as they are. So the exhibition that interesting, let a free interpretation but not go to the wrong direction happened.
