Recently, Anna designed a contemporary family apartment in a new building in Knightsbridge in London. Her challenge was to create a spacious, warm and inviting open plan, which she accomplished with stunning use of lighting, mirrors, glass, natural light, classy chrome finishes and soft textured fabrics. The end result is nothing short of spectacular. In the future, Anna says, “I would love to have a workshop so people know how to work with an interior designer. People need to be patient and involved and realize that a project takes a certain amount of time. Every time is a new challenge. You definitely have to keep a sense of humor. “What makes me different is that I’m international, speak different languages, know the latest trends and furnishings, and go to shows all over the world. Experience is most important. Trust is a very important aspect as well—to give confidence to the clients.” She adds, “I’m not looking for something new; I’m looking for timeless.” Anna always has her passport ready for yet another adventure in seeking that just-right piece for her next client’s interior design project. 12 Upscale Living Magazine |

Legendary fashion designer Christian Dior was born on January 21, 1905 in a seaside town in northern France, the second of five children born to Alexandre Louis Maurice Dior and his wife, Isabelle. When he was a just growing up, Dior’s family moved to Paris, where he would spend his youth. Although he was passionate about art and expressed an interest in becoming an architect, he adhered to his father’s more practical wishes and in 1925, enrolled at the École des Sciences Politiques to study political science, with the understanding that he would eventually find work as a diplomat. After his graduation in 1928 however, Dior opened a small art gallery, handling the works of such notable artists as Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau and Max Jacob among others. In 1931 he was forced to close the gallery as his father suffered a financial collapse and could no longer support his son. Following the closing of his gallery, Dior began to

BOUCHERON

FINE JEWELRY

This year, Parisian high jeweler Boucheron has worked with renowned Japanese flower artist Makoto Azuma to produce a “high jewelry garden exhibition” entitled “L’Artisan du Rêve” inspired by nature featuring an array of beautiful flowers and fine jewels, one of Mr. Makoto’s most spectacular floral arrangement. Mr Makoto created dreamy landscapes inhabited by diamond winged butterflies, bejewelled dragonflies and precious peacocks. The centerpiece is the much admired ‘Bouquet d’Ailes’, a necklace quivering with pink, lilac and orange butterfly wings set ‘en tremlant’ that sits lightly on the neck.

Prince Rainier III of Monaco upped his first engagement ring to Grace Kelly with a 10.5-carat emerald-cut diamond ring from Cartier with two baguettes. He had originally proposed to her with a Cartier eternity band, but when he saw that other women in Hollywood had bigger rocks on their fingers, he ordered a new ring, also from Cartier.

One of the most pristine pieces of jewelry from the 1920s time period is this gorgeous Cartier Bracelet that formerly belonged to Spain’s Queen Victoria Eugenia, the grandmother of Spain’s current King Juan Carlos. This pristine bracelet was designed by Cartier.

No Pain?...GAIN! Regenexx ™

E

| By Karen H. Berliner

ach and every one of us either experiences it at some point in our lives or knows someone near and dear, who struggles with it regularly. Arthritis, a torn rotator cuff, low back pain, or a chronically sprained and swollen ankle-these problems are everywhere.

Sometimes pain seems endless and complex, leading us to chronic suffering and often, eventual surgeries and perpetual treatments with no end in sight. Until now? ... Actually, maybe so. The Regenexx-Family of Advanced Regenerative Medicine Procedures offers breakthrough, non-surgical treatment options for people suffering from moderate to severe joint, tendon, ligament or bone pain due to injury or other conditions. The Centeno-Schultz Clinic is the original stem cell based musculoskeletal practice in the U.S., with more stem cell orthopedics experience than any other clinic. Offering physicians who are pioneers and ground breaking leaders in stem cell therapy for orthopedic injuries, they support their pain intervention program with research presentations, publications and academic achievements. Regenexx™ procedures offer a viable alternative to many who are facing surgery due to injury or are suffering from chronic pain from conditions such as arthritis in all major joints. Being a state of the art cell biology facility, they have developed medical procedures that are licensed world-wide. Breakthrough, non-surgical treatment options afford individuals suffering from joint pain, an injection based treatment as viable alternatives to surgery. Regenexx procedures work by taking reparative stem cells that already live in all of us and amplifying the body’s natural repair process. To do this, the doctors harvest cells from areas known to be rich in mesenchymal stem cells and then concentrate those cells in a lab before reinjecting them specifically, into the damaged area in need of repair. Sophisticated imaging guidance is used to make sure they get to the right spot. The stem cells can either be processed the same day (U.S.) or cultured for approximately two weeks to get more cells (through a company that has licensed the procedure for use at a Cayman Islands facility). The goal is to deliver much greater numbers of stem cells to the injured area than your body would deliver on its own. As a result, patients experience very little down time and they typically avoid the long, painful rehabilitation periods that often follow surgery to restore joint strength and mobility. 30 Upscale Living Magazine |

Issue 29

Upscale Living Magazine interviewed Dr. Centeno in attempting to demystify this brand of regenerative medicine: What exactly is “Regenerative Sciences”? It is a research driven company that takes mesenchymal stem cells, isolates them and concentrates them which allows us as trained physicians, to transplant if you will, those very same patient cells into a specific area to treat orthopedic problems without the need for more invasive surgery. What drove you to this specific area of pain treatment and medical intervention? I got involved with mesenchymal stem cells research and treatment actually, out of frustration as a pain management specialist. The golden standard has been to use an x-ray guided needle based procedure as a pain management intervention. The problem with this is that it is more a Band-Aid than a solution; somewhat of a quick superficial fix. The Regenexx approach allows us to deliver cells that can help heal orthopedic tissues. Where do you see regenexx or stem cell therapy going in the long term future? Cell based medicine is growing and evolving every day. There are still hurdles to conquer and research driven studies to conduct but we are on our way. Rather than waiting for a joint to get damaged and progressively bad enough to replace, we will catch things in the early stages and in the process, reduce the need for big surgeries and chronic pain. What is the bottom line, without all of the technicalities and medical terminology—the take away for those who struggle with joint pain? The bottom line here is that this is your body repairing itself. We just add more repair cells to get the job done, therefore amping up the process.

Christopher J. Centeno, M.D. is a specialist in regenerative medicine and the new field of Interventional Orthopedics. He is board certified in physical medicine/rehabilitation, pain management and is one of the few physicians in the world with extensive experience in the clinical use of adult stem cells to treat orthopedic injuries. He treats patients from all over the world who travel to Colorado to undergo innovative, non-surgical treatment. Dr. Centeno’s clinical practice in Colorado (The Centeno-Schultz Clinic) has a state of the art cell biology research lab, a bioengineering department and a clinical research arm. Dr. Centeno has also trained a provider network of physicians around the country who can also offer many of these same treatments. ď ś 31 Upscale Living Magazine |

The Lykan Hypersport from W-Motors | By Louis DeFonzie

The Middle East has long been one of the top markets for ultra luxury. They are not only known for their oil-rich soil, but also for their stunning jewelry, extraordinary architecture designs and high-priced supercars, and now, more than ever, for the Lykan HyperSport, W-Motor’s first Arab supercar, which was unveiled at the Qatar Motor Show earlier this year. This beautiful supercar is powered by a twin-turbo, flat-six engine tuned by RUF, presumably borrowed from a Porsche 911, producing power of 740 hp (552 kW; 750 PS) and 737 lb-ft (999 N.M) of torque. It is claimed to be capable of 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 245 mph (394.3 km/h), making the Lykan one of the fastest production cars in history.

The Lykan’s cabin features plenty of carbon fiber, with materials such as titanium and precious gem stones, as a matter of fact, W-Motor is providing the Owners with the choice to have the headlights encrusted in a choice of gemstones that includes diamonds and rubies. With just 7 Lykans to be built, the company confirms that it already has hundreds of requests from all around the world, and for each of these buyers, W-Motor’s will be providing them with a special edition Cyrus Klepcy’s watch worth $200,000. Not a bad deal! For the asking price of just $3.4 million, W-Motors Lykan is most certain the first Arab supercar and one of the most expensive automobiles in the world. 35 Upscale Living Magazine |

HOLGUIN The Art of Home Staging

t Upscale Living we are always on the lookout for exceptional properties to showcase for our readers. After stepping into some of the most exquisite properties in South Florida, the common link to many is the beautiful interior design work of Maria Elena Holguin. Whether it is a residential property designed to reflect the lifestyle of the homeowners, a charity design project, or gorgeous details and tone set with staging, her work is executed with chic elegance and a lot of heart. She has completed a 15,000 sq. ft. home in Tanzania, looks forward to her set-design projects for Maroone 5, all while working towards a non-profit to help support Latin women. community and helping women adds much intricacy to her work ethic, adding depth and significance to the beauty that she creates. How do you approach your design projects? I was raised with 3 generations of craftsmen, artisans and design minded men, from them, especially my father I learned a great appreciation to detail, high quality craftsmanship and most of all function. My approach to each design project has always been to think of the end product as functional, simple and elegant. Secondly, I keep in mind our mission to design spaces that transform lives. By that I mean that we do not only design a space by putting in new architectural details, lighting, furniture and move on. We think of how the end result can transform

DESIGN

the lives of the people that are going to use it. Whether we are designing a baby room, an office building or a center for children with disabilities we interview the client extensively on how the space will be used, who will use the space and their ages. We spend time with the client, employees, nurses, or spouses and children to view how they currently use the space, if existing. This takes some time out of our design process but the end result is always a design that far exceeds the clients’ expectations. How is staging a property different than a custom interior design project? What inspires the staging design process? With every design that we do whether it is commercial and residential interior design, staging, set design or product design we approach

PROFILE

everything thinking of how we will impact the lives of the people that will be using the end product. When we work on a custom interior design project you have one specific client or family and are guided by their tastes, budget and lifestyle. When we stage a home we have to transform a clients’ house into a “product” that appeals to more people, sells quickly and for top dollar. We also have to provide this transformation as economically as possible. If the home is occupied we try to use as much of the homeowners furniture and accessories as possible even if re-upholstery or refurbishing is needed. We rearrange, redesign and reinvent the spaces. If the home is empty like our most recent project, we consult with the client to know if they want to stage the entire home or part of it and what is their budget 39 Upscale Living Magazine | Issue 29

for project. We partner with furniture showrooms, foliage and floral designers and artists to rent as much as possible for the client. This is a win-win situation in all staging project. In this particular home featured now, we partnered with Floridian Furniture in Coral Gables, Artist Marcello Holzinger, Artist Enrique Mastrapa Jr., and Foliage Design Systems. Home Staging is an investment in what is probably your biggest asset. It’s an investment in your home’s equity. Showing a staged home, especially at the luxury level that we work in, is much easier and less stressful for the homeowner and Realtor! What is your favorite project so far? I was able to completely design a 15,000 sq. ft. home in Tanzania, Africa. I love the style of the home and was able to be involved in every aspect from stair railing design, interior architecture, 2 kitchens, 8 bathroom designs, and all custom furniture and drapery design. I was invited to travel there twice with the client and was taken to see the island of Zanzibar where my clients’ father was from. How do you see your career evolving in the next year? Our commercial and residential design department is now working on the Y100 studios, a Marble showroom and many residences throughout the U.S., Canada and Colombia. We have a marketing campaign in place that will focus on expanding that with more clients worldwide. This coming winter we are also launching our own brand of home fragrances followed by a line of luggage, bed and bath products. We teamed up with Winston Delawar Photography which has introduced us to the world of set designs and we have pending sets with them for Pitbull, Elvis Crespo, Maroone 5, and many other artists. blog page, Design it Live it and one of the most exciting things we are planning is to open the “Design it Live it Foundation” a non-profit that will help Latin women around the world. Can you tell our readers your top essential design elements that they can incorporate into their own lives? The first principle of design is that I can share with you is to go with what you like and what makes you comfortable! This is your home, and there is no point having a beautifully decorated home if you and your family does not to feel good in it. Begin with figuring out the function of the room and who will be using it. Answering these 2 basic questions will lead you to good choices of flooring, furniture and more. To begin selecting furniture pieces you should begin with the most important pieces first and most importantly think of scale and balance of the piece in the room. I believe you should spend your money on quality upholstery and one or two of the focal points in the room. Even if you leave the rest of the room empty for a while those pieces will be with you for a long time and will ground the room. If you are not using a professional designer, you should at least take measurements of the entire room and bring with you to the furniture showroom to make sure you purchase the correct size of furniture. Then you need to commit to color, and this is sometimes one of the most difficult decisions for people. A professional designer usually works with the “three-color” principle: one neutral and two accent colors. Lastly, do not forget the window treatment, lighting and accessories as this finishes of the room like as much as a handbag, great shoes and jewelry finish of a woman’s outfit. I love an entry way in a home for setting the tone for the owner’s style. Do you have a favorite room that you enjoy designing most? I love to design bedrooms that whomever is going to live in the space will feel that it is their sanctuary. A bedroom is the most private room in a home and when we design it we want to always make it feel safe and relaxing, yet at the same time it has to entice the person living it to live, dream, love, and laugh being able to fully be themselves. It is very different when I design a bedroom for a single woman or man rather than a couple, or when I design a baby room compared to a toddler, teenager or college dorm. The personalities and age levels will determine the function, finishes and of course we always think of how the end result will transform their lives. I begin with a neutral base, mix different furniture styles, make sure it is comfortable and of course, surround the room with memories. How do you stay inspired? I read a lot, follow fashion trends and go to as many fashion shows as possible because everyone knows fashion leads interior design trends. As the Ambassador of A.S.I.D., I hold and/or go to events in some of the most fabulous showrooms throughout Miami so I see first-hand their new collections. I surround myself and hire people from many different cultures and young artisans. I feel that young people have an expansive mind full of curiosity that sometimes as we get older we block and by when they are around. I am also always very aware of all my surroundings; it drives my husband crazy because even if we are on our

DESIGN PROFILE date nights I will be looking down at the flooring, touching an intricate napkin or picking up a plate to see where it came from on the back side. If you were to collaborate with a dream client, who would it be? A dream client is not necessarily the one with the biggest budget; I have worked with fabulous clients on very small projects. To me a great client does a couple of things; first they do research before they hire an interior designer to make sure they have credentials, a portfolio that shows a mix of work, that are affiliated, licensed is even better, involved in the interior design community. Most importantly, ask for references and call them. When I go to visit a potential client that asks me these questions then I know they are starting in the right track. Once they hire me, a dream client respects that I have 20 years’ experience, know what I am doing but aren’t afraid to question reasoning or choices and make thoughtful suggestions to help the project run smoothly. As your designer it is my job to bring your vision to life better than you can imagine, putting it all together in the best way, even if you only show me a picture in a magazine that influenced you. A dream client should create a visual portfolio of things that inspire them, from magazine pictures, vacation photos, artwork or even nail polish like one of my clients daughter gave me for the color she wanted in her room. Finally, a dream client works on a budget before they meet with me and is honest about their budget and once the project begins they know that purchase orders and balances have to be paid on time so the project runs smoothly. They also understand that nothing is perfect and are open to the possibility of compromise. When do you feel the most fulfilled and happiest? I am fulfilled and happy when I am close to God, when I am with my family and friends enjoying a weekend getaway and when I do charity design projects and see the faces of the people that I have touched because of the space that we transformed for them. Along with my team we have been able to remodel and design the McLamore Center for children; we have designed apartments for people coming out of homelessness with Chapman Partnership Center; we were also honored when asked to design a room for an 18 year old girl as her “last wish”. We are now in the process of designing and remodeling the United Cerebral Palsy / Golden Glades Baby House which is a center for 15 young adults with Cerebral Palsy. We have entered into a contest with HGTV and IDG to win $20,000.00 towards the redesign of one of the rooms alongside Mark Brunetz. Where is your favorite vacation destination? Anywhere in Italy, I lived there in 1994 and I love all the architecture, artisans, culture, mountainsides and food of course. I think I must have been Italian in another life because throughout my life I have been drawn to everything about that country.

TRAVEL

GATEWAY Canyon RanchResort | By Alina Cabral

Where should I head to now? I asked myself as one of my many passions is to travel and experience the many beautiful destinations around the world. This time around, I opted to stay close to home and travel to Colorado. Gateway Canyon Ranch Resort was to be my next travel destination, a fabulous choice I must add, as I can’t seem to stop thinking of how spectacular my entire trip turned out to be.

The One-bedroom suite Casita I stayed in was very spacious and cozy, and showcased beautiful Southwestern influenced décor with custom artisan furnishings from Peru; and their amenities were very “luxe” to say the least; two gas kiva fireplaces in both the living room and master bedroom, vaulted open ceilings, views of the Palisade from every window in the unit, outdoor shower, 5-fixture bathrooms with free standing tub, private deck with a fire pit and an outdoor spa. The perfect location for the perfect getaway.

Upon my arrival at the Gran Junction airport, I was greeted by one of their driver who was very pleasant and talkative. We headed towards the resort which is approximately an hour and 1/2 from the airport. The view was spectacular, but nothing prepared me for the magnificence neighboring of the Gateway Canyon Ranch Resort located in the secluded Unaweep Canyon of Western Colorado, surrounded by the vast lands of the Uncompahgre Plateau, Pinon Mesa and La Sal Mountain, you can imagine that, to be in this lavish resort at the base of 5 canyons with a dramatic view of an enormous red rock palisade, mountains and mesas, was like no other experience I have had.

Once I was settled in, I decided it was time to visit the resort and checkout their other exceptional offerings. My first stop? The Gateway Colorado Auto Museum with an abundance of classic American Automobiles. There were every classic car I could imagine and the stories that went with them were very informative and enriching; this vintage automobile museum really depicts American history of the past century. After walking around the museum, I met our group and we were all treated to a delicious dinner prepared by Chef Ron Rhiver. Dinner was delicious and the wines paired with each plate were the perfect combination.

TRAVEL

For the next few days, we were all off to driving ATVs up into the mountains, horseback riding and participating in their “Driving Experience” for a cruise down the highway and back. They have muscle cars and luxury automobiles available, such as the likes of convertible Mercedes Benz, Porsche, the Bentley Continental GT (which is what I drove, but this I have to save for another write-up!) and many others. Boy and did I feel adventurous! I also flew in a helicopter that took us all over the canyons and the beautiful surrounding greeneries. There are many outdoor activities offered at this resort, you can relax and enjoy the beauty in front of you, swimming in any of their two pools, walking the grounds or enjoying the privacy of your own outdoor spa, whatever you need or want, Gateway Canyon Resort has; and I did all of them, but a visit to their Spa was a “must”. Once I arrived at their Spa, I was taken to a cozy room with exquisite aromas and the most comfortable massage table I’ve experience, I guess my muscles were ready to set aside the great adventures and opt for a body and soul exuberant experience. My choice? The “Jade & Burdock Sachet” with a Swedish Massage addon. This treatment left me relaxed, rejuvenated and mentally clear. It

consisted of a detoxification process with a choice of a detoxifying or slimming elixir, allowing the power of the jade & burdock sachet to stimulate proper circulation, removing toxins and increasing chi to aid in the body’s natural detoxification process. Warming pillows were placed over acupressure points around the digestive tract to rebalance, while acupressure points were massaged to connect with specific areas of the body. Can you envision it?.. Need I say more?... A total Bliss! For the remaining time I had left at the Resort, I visited Red Cliffs where we had a country picnic, explored the scenic Dolores River Canyon to discover a historical engineering wonder, succumb in the sun by their poolside, savor delicious plates, and I even enjoyed a game of pool at their well-stocked bar; in other words, I truly enjoyed my stayed to the fullest. In conclusion, Gateway Canyons Resort offers a extraordinary experiences! Whether you are looking for adventure, culinary experience or relaxation, you are bound to find it at this 5 plus star resort. It is World Class and a place I hardly recommend to those who seek that “hidden treasure” destination. 54 Upscale Living Magazine |

TRAVEL Created in 2008, the exquisite “A Trip through the Amazon” menu is one of the restaurant’s most popular offerings, combining French preparation techniques with typical ingredients from this Brazilian region. Consisting of 10 dishes, the menu includes crab pastry with Bacuri chutney, tapioca Sagu pearls marinated with Caipirinha; Moqueca blinis and grilled shrimp with Brazilian nut cream; Tucunare fish brandade on coconut milk; and Pirarucu fish in Caju crust and Tucupi in Jambu sauce. First unveiled in 2011, the Rice and Beans Menu features dishes including rice roll with crayfish and green papya, acai vinaigrette over crispy rice spaghetti; Feijão-manteiguinha blinis, tomato and mozzarella salad with tuna cream and Basmati rice pesto; and Carnaroli Rice and Feijão-verde risotto, grilled shrimp and olive oil bisque. To create the menu, more than 20 different types of grain were researched, culminating in new dishes uniting basic ingredients with the distinctive French preparation method. The bar at Le Pré Catelan is clad in mother of pearl imported from the Philippines, while additional touches include stylish chairs made of a special resin, stainless steel and wood that were created by renowned architects Charles and Ray Eames and Swarovski crystal light features. The restaurant possesses an extensive wine cellar with an ample number of prestigious labels from around the world such as the sophisticated Bordeaux, the Loire, the Burgundy, the famous reds from Côtes du Rhône and Alsace, while the Table du Chef is a unique and exclusive service in which the client participates in a dinner that has been exclusively prepared for him in the office of the renowned chef Roland Villard. GOTHAM STEAKHOUSE A Culinary Experience | By Alina R Leyva

Dinner at Gotham Steakhouse in Miami Beach was a delightful culinary experience. Located inside the iconic Fontainebleau Hotel known for been a magnet for celebrities, this beautiful Steakhouse offers accessible cuisine that appeals to both youthful diners and notable guests who appreciate good food. We arrived at Gotham via the Fontainebleau’s magnificent lobby. From the moment you step in through the doors, you are greeted with a warm welcome, we just knew that our experience was going to be a good one. Shortly thereafter, we were taken to our table located at the lower level of the venue. A gorgeous and elegant chandelier of hand-blown glass and glass-enclosed wine tower flowing through both floors was a breathtaking setting. The top floor, as you entered Gotham, is a 75-seat bar and lounge with a casual fun vibe and live music, while the downstairs dining is more intimate and romantic. For starters I ordered the French onion soup, which was by far the best I’ve ever tasted, it melted in your mouth! and the combination of bread and mozzarella within the soup took it to another level. My husband ordered their Heirloom Tomato Salad, which was deliciously prepared with watermelon, goat cheese, basil and yuzu, and our table never lacked of their delicious crusty rolls with their tab of sweet truffle

butter. The serving staff were constantly catering to us by making sure that our glasses were always filled and empty plates were non-existent. They brought us their wine list which is housed on an IPad, making the selection easier by not only sorting the wine style, but also by country of origin and rating. For our entree, I ordered their Bone-In Filet, a 16 oz. which was simply magnificent! It was aged to perfection with excellent marbling. My husband opted for their 20-ounce Brandt Farm rib eye, easily two inches thick, grilled over hardwood charcoal and finished on a 1,200-degree broiler, one of the best he’s had in a long time! The steaks were perfectly cooked, no fat and accompanied with delicious choice of sauces. Their truffle fries was divine! We also ordered the Mac-n-Cheese and puree potatoes, both were perfectly delicious as well. All done and ready to go, we took another look at their dessert menu, and was I in for a treat! a chocolate lover myself, I had to order their delicious lava cake with peanut butter, pretzel and salted caramel ice cream--sounds like too much going on, but it was perfectly balanced and just enough for the two of us. Our experience at Gotham Steakhouse was absolutely wonderful, from the beginning to the end we were treated to one of the best culinary experience we’ve ever had. They exceeded our expectation and we will be certain to sing their praises to all of our friends and associates. 59 Upscale Living Magazine |

CAVIAR

Black Pave Diamonds and Champagne | By Karen Holly Berliner

Decadent Opulent Luxurious......Dining can be all of that. Picture this: It’s a moonlit evening in Manhattan. You enjoyed a matinee Broadway play, stretched your legs and strolled about the city, dipped into Central Park, window shopped, really shopped and now you are readyReady to relax somewhere plush and romantic, perhaps chatter about the musings of the day and enjoy a light bite; perhaps a glass or two of champagne.....And yes, an amuse-bouche.....Caviar. Upscale Living takes you on two caviar-centric experiences ... Go ahead and indulge!

Old School Russian Cuisine Meets New School Flavor- Firebird Restaurant NYC Back at the turn of the 20th century, a landmark ballet was performed by the Ballet Russe; FireBird. A full century later, its namesake restaurant Firebird, a Russian dining spot on Manhattan’s notorious restaurant row, charms and captures all of your senses much as the original ballet performance had, from the moment you cross its stately iron gates into the foliage clad entryway, to the last drop of food and spirits presented to you with the greatest of finesse. Enter here and find the most opulent

in décor, conjuring a Romanov-esque St. Petersburg mansion via three levels of ornate period antiques, authentic nesting dolls, ancient books, gold gilded tableware and rows of shadow boxes displaying costumes from the original ballet throughout. Walk deeper into the restaurant’s library and feel the immediate shift from the noise of the exterior world to this special and serene place waiting inside. Pretty aquamarine hues, coffered ceilings, marbled columns and animal print upholstered seating contrasted by stark white clothed tables, all come together to create an inviting ambiance. There’s an understated, almost old world elegance evident in everything here from their impeccable service to their softly flickering table lamps and most importantly, their expansive menu. Enjoy FireBird’s guided caviar and champagne pairings. Opt for the red tasting and enjoy such delicacies as Trout Roe; delicate, translucent eggs with a subtly smoky taste and mildly briny note paired with G.H. Mumm Brut Rose NV or choose the black tasting offered with three exquisite pairings. Indecisive? Opt for the a la carte caviars and champagnes, all served with blini as well as traditional accompaniments; red onion, egg white, egg yolk, and crème fraiche. 61 Upscale Living Magazine | Issue 29
