Ecclesia America: A Church in Crisis
A
merica has been a safe haven for the Gospel for many years. Around the turn of the millennia, America celebrated the fifth centenary of the first preaching of the Gospel on its’ soil. We have been the largest missionary sending nation in the world for over a century shining as a beacon of light, hope and an example of the great commission to all nations. Presently, America is in crisis. We are no longer the largest Christian nation or the largest mission sending nation. South Korea has taken the lead in missions and China in having the most believers in a nation. As a matter of fact, America has the largest “unchurched” generation it has ever known. Ac-
The majorityAmerican Christians have lost their commitment and passion for Jesus Christ.
cording to an article called, “Religion among the Millennials” released by the “Pew Research Center” only 18% of Millennials attend a church regularly. Franklin Graham said in recent interviews that the two greatest threats to the American church and America are the homosexual and Islamic agenda. I know that these two topics are big controversies for America. I am intensely concerned about both; however, I do not believe that either are the greatest crisis that the Church is facing right now in America. “To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are 4

lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see” Revelation 3:14-18 (NIV).
The Church of America has lost its’ first love and as a result, all these issues have risen. American Christians for the majority have lost their commitment and passion for Jesus Christ. We have worshiped in buildings that we have not had to pay for, we have preached sermons that we have gotten online that we haven’t sought God for, and we have experienced a harvest on the seed that our forefathers have sown for. Many American Christians complain when the church service runs too long, or the air is too hot or cold. We leave the church if the leaders tell us something we don’t want to hear, even when it is biblical truth. Leaders have been more concerned about numbers, nickels and noses that we have compromised the message for being culturally sensitive or ecumenical driven. We have spent more time over 50 years entertaining the church of America rather than training the church of America that we have produced “perverts” instead of “converts”, allowing unbiblical same-sex relationships to not only be married, but ordained. For decades, we have been “seeker friendly” rather than “seeking Him.” As a result of this shift, we now have a harcont. on page 26

Spiritual Maturity: Revelation Knowledge (II)
D
ivine knowledge or discernment is different from wisdom in the sense of the former being a building block or information store house from which wisdom acquires the needed tools or resources to work. In fact scripture makes the distinction even clearer in 1 Kings 3:6-12. In Solomon's words, we see that he asked for more than wisdom: he actually asked for discernment. Consider Solomon's prayer: "Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people that I may discern between good and evil" (1 Kings 3:9a). God answers Solomon thus: "Because you have asked this, and have not asked for yourself long life or riches or the life of your
Revelation knowledge is given by the Holy Spirit, not the reading of Hebrew or Greek Bible
enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern what is right, behold, I now do according to your word" (1 Kings 3:11-12a). "Behold, I give you a wise and discerning mind, so that none like you has been before you and none like you shall arise after you" (1 Kings 3:12b). God gave Solomon what he requested (discernment) and even more (wisdom). Solomon, therefore, became both wise and discerning or divinely knowledgeable, which factor was the inspiration behind the truths in the book of Proverbs. Divine discernment, takes place when we receive sensory/mental and extra-sensory illumination or insight that enables the child of God to identify the true nature of things, personalities, events, times, situations, issues, conducts, revelations, and doctrines (I Corinthians 2:6-14); and the true intentions behind their 6

occurrences. Growth in revelation knowledge or discernment corresponds with growth in one’s sense of judgment. This is the ability to identify or form the right opinions or evaluate issues and things properly with insight from God’s Word, the Holy Spirit, and factual evidence. Proverbs 24:3 says, “a house is built through wisdom; and by understanding or discernment it is established. As we grow in submission to Christ, our sense of discernment and judgment undergo a greater and more positive development: as we meditate more and more on the Word of God, and become more acquainted with His ways and principles for life in all obedience; as our lives are pruned more and more by the trials of life (Proverbs 9:10). This process results in the development of humility in us; because it enables us to better appreciate the nature of God and also help us draw the right conclusions about ourselves; leading to a greater sense of dependency on God (I Corinthians 2:8-12; II Corinthians 3:5). The knowledge of the original languages of the scriptural writings does not necessarily amount to divine revelation. Such knowledge comes by human effort, and it only enriches revelation granted by the Holy Spirit, by helping us avoid grammatical and etymological or linguistical pitfalls that accompany our private interpretations of the Word; pitfalls that often bait and trap us into deceptive doctrines and corrupted exegesis of the letter and spirit of the Word of God. Knowledge acquired by means of man’s natural senses is limited in scope and content, and hence places us in a disadvantaged position, when it comes to gaining insight into that which is not responsive to our senses and cannot be processed by our mental faculties. very word that comes out of our mouths has power in it—creative or destructive, positive or negative. Proverbs 18:21 (AMP) says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].” So whether we murmur and complain or give thanks and keep a positive attitude, we are feeding our body, mind and spirit. So if you’re not enjoying your life, the best thing you can do is think about what you’ve been talking about. First Peter 3:10 says, “For let him who wants to enjoy life
“For let him who wants to enjoy life and see good days keep his tongue free from evil.. and see good days [good—whether apparent or not] keep his tongue free from evil and his lips from guile (treachery, deceit).” Our joy is connected to what we say. And one of the ways we can instantly increase our joy is to stop talking about all of our problems. Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV) says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” These verses show us that when we put our faith in God, we can stay in peace in every situation in our lives. The question is, when we pray and ask God to change something in our lives, are we releasing our faith? We need to understand that the moment we pray, God goes to work on that situation. And after we pray, what we say while we’re waiting to see the answer to our prayer is very, very important. So pray and then say something to enhance your prayers─speak faith-filled words. After I pray, I set myself to believe that God is working no matter what I see…no matter what it feels like. Because oftentimes when it seems nothing is happening, that’s when God is doing what we need the most. 10
w w w. a d o n a i m a g . t v
Another way we can instantly increase our joy is by using our words to encourage those around us. Proverbs 18:20 (AMP) says, “A man’s [moral] self shall be filled with the fruit of his mouth; and with the consequence of his words he must be satisfied [whether good or evil].” Every word is like a seed and it brings some kind of harvest in our lives. If you give others joy with your words, you will increase your own joy. If you want to enjoy your life, let God use you to make other people happy. Because the happier you make other people, the happier you will be.
Encouraging words can also bring healing, by simply saying things like “I appreciate you. Forgive me. I’m sorry and I was wrong.” I was not what I would call a natural encourager, but I made a commitment to God years ago to start encouraging people on purpose. Now I ask God every day, “Who can I encourage today? How can I build someone up?” It’s amazing how much better life can be when you give someone an encouraging word every day. We can also increase our joy by being thankful and saying it. Psalm 100:4 says, “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful and say so to Him, bless and affectionately praise His name!” Thank God for every blessing that you can think of. Every morning I like to have what I call a “blessing session.” It’s when I take time to thank God for working in my life. One thing I’ve learned is when we’re waiting for a breakthrough, we need to thank Him for working on that situation behind the scenes. I also thank God for my husband, children and grandchildren as well as all of our partners and all of the people who work with us in spreading the Gospel through our ministry. God wants you to enjoy your life. I hope you will really get this message today and be encouraged to know that when you face challenges in life, you can make them better or worse by the way you talk about them. I don’t believe we can change all of our circumstances into pleasant ones by making positive confessions, but we can increase our joy and peace in the midst of them when we choose to speak in agreement with God and learn to say what He says.

When You Feel Threatened
I
n Acts 4:17 a statement was made thus: “But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them that from now on they speak to no man in this name“ NKJV. This was said by the enemies of the gospel: The Sanhedrin, those in high places who claimed to know more than everybody else. They conspired to arrest and threaten Peter and John for preaching the gospel and performing miracles in the name of Jesus. With this story, I want to advise you to always do what the disciples did, whenever you feel threatened. What did they do? They prayed. If you will pray and are bold, standing upon the Rock – the Truth – Jesus Christ, you will overcome. You will be free.
When life’s situations arrest you as they arrested Peter and John, you need to pray. Sometimes powers that are beyond you put up a scheme to harass you for pitching your tent in the camp of Jesus Christ. The anti-goodness group said among themselves, “What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it”- Acts 4:16 NKJV. As you can see, threats may arise against you because your ministry is thriving, your children are excelling, you are being promoted rapidly, you appear to be blessed, you are doing well in business, or you are always standing for the truth. At times the threat may be from sickness, disease, poverty, and trauma of some kind, marital issues or the like. I have news for you. If you will pray and be bold, standing upon the Rock – the Truth – Jesus 14
w w w. a d o n a i m a g . t v
Christ, you will overcome. You will be free. When you are threatened, take these steps as the disciples did: They brought God into the picture: Have you brought God into the picture yet? Have you told Him that you’re being threatened? Have you invited Him? See Ps. 91:5. Prayer is the door through which He enters your situation. Acts 4:23-28 They prayed to receive boldness and more faith: saying, “Now, Lord, look upon their threats, and grant to your servants that with all boldness they may speak your word,” - Acts 4:29. They expected God’s intervention: In Acts 4:30 they asked God to stretch out His hands. Expect God to move. He handles all shifts, even night shifts, as you can read in Matt. 14:25 - yes, even at 4:00 a.m. in the morning. Jesus keeps night shifts too. Whenever you call on Him, He will be there. He appears to people anytime and all the time. They were filled with the Holy Spirit: Through prayer, they received the Holy Spirit who gave them boldness and energy to move on - Acts 4:31. You can be energized too if you pray. RESULT: You will be freed: The bible says, “But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life.” Acts 5:19-20 NKJV When you are threatened, pray like the disciples did - a prayer that brings a shaking. When that prayer occurs, the Holy Spirit will come and strengthen you to bring boldness and victory. The bible says, you shall realize and enjoy your freedom in Jesus name.

Children and Choices
ife offers us a variety of choices, and it is up to us whether we choose the good ones or the bad. The career path we choose, the food we eat, the clothes we wear, and the life partner we choose are things, which we can decide upon. As parents, it is our responsibility to teach our children to make the right choices in life. A child when given the option will choose what is attractive and appealing, not thinking about the end results. The bible says, “You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you Don’t give your child the sit in your house, and when you walk by the option to way, and when you lie choose until down, and when you you teach rise” (Deuteronomy 6:7 him/her how ESV).
to choose.
one they wanted. 3. Never shut down your child’s request without telling them the reason why it is not necessary for him/her 4. Train your child to be a leader than to be led 5. Build up the child’s confidence by building his self-confidence All these cannot be achieved without the word of God, which will instill in the child the fear of God, which produces wisdom. As parents and the light & salt of our families, and those around us, it is our obligation to live lives that honor Christ and also become role models for our children to emulate as they grow. Training our children in the Lord starts with us as parents, because our children display our character and attitudes, since those are what they constantly see.
The choices you make as a parent will either affect your child positively or negatively, since they look at you as their role model to emulate. If you will remember, there was a time when your child pretended to be like the dad or the mom, talking and moving like they do, and even sometimes putting on your dress or shoes just to be like dad or mom. Have you asked yourself “what does my child display when he/she is pretending to be me”?. Some points for making right choices 1. Make right choices yourself 2. Teach your child to choose right and tell them why you made them make that choice and not the 18

hen I married Karen, I'll admit I was looking for a good woman who would serve me. That's what I thought a successful marriage was: finding someone to serve you. That's because I was a chauvinist. I thought men were better than women. Needless to say, the idea of me serving Karen was the farthest thing from my mind. It was a shock to me that she would even expect me to do anything. In John 13, Jesus is in the remaining hours before being crucified. He is eating a meal with His disciples. The disciples were having a conversation about which one of them was the greatest—they never were the sharpest knives in the drawer—when Jesus made an example of washing their feet.
“A dream marriage is made of two people being generous and acting sacrificially toward each other.”
Remember, these guys spent all day wearing sandals on dusty roads. Their feet were filthy. Washing someone's foot was a demeaning task, detestable to them. Jesus told them the servant was the greatest of all. That His followers were to be servants. They were stunned by both His example and His message. As followers of Christ, around friends, among strangers, and especially within our marriages, we are to be servants. We are to put others' needs ahead of our own. A husband and wife who constantly serve one another have discovered the secret of a great marriage. Why is serving each other so important? Equality. A person who refuses to serve his or her spouse is either dominating the relationship or has checked out emotionally. Men and women are absolutely equal. Serving your spouse—doing things in their interest, not 20

yours—tells them "I am not better than you." Humility. We're naturally prideful. Both men and women have pride issues in their lives. We might be given tasks or asked to do things and we think, "I'm too good for that." But that's an unhealthy attitude in marriage. Helping is about being involved with even the insignificant details of each other's days. Do the dishes. Wash the car. Fold clothes. Clean toilets. Give a foot rub. Nothing is beneath you if it benefits your spouse—even if you're wealthy. One of the worst marriages I've ever seen was a wealthy couple who wouldn't do anything for each other. Why? Because they always hired people to do any work for them. Intimacy. In Matthew 6, Jesus said, "Wherever your treasure is, there will your heart be also." Where you invest yourself, that's where your passion will be. If you're pouring all your time and abilities into your work, or your children, or your hobbies, that will become what you treasure most. Pour your time and abilities into serving your spouse, and he or she will capture your heart. Continually investing in each other means you stay passionate for each other. It means you're sharing your life with each other. It brings you closer. Destiny. God decided it was not good for Adam to be alone. He created us for each other. I can't achieve what God has planned for me without Karen. She can't reach her full potential without me. Obviously God can do anything, but He put us in each other's lives for a reason: to serve each other toward our destiny together. The best marriages are made of two servants in love. Put each other first and you'll discover the marriage of your dreams. Blessings,

Ecclesia America: A Church in Crisis
contd. from page 4
vest of juvenile believers that don’t recognize truth nor desire it. With a shortage of Bible truths, there becomes no foundation to stand on when times get tough, and times are tough. The American church has become so worldly and the world so “churchy” that we have a hard time differentiating between the two. Perhaps this is one reason people don’t frequent church as much in America anymore. We need to get back to a place where we are presence driven with a purpose, rather than purpose driven limiting His presence. Will the American Church even recognize a true awakening when it takes place? We are accustomed to “four points and a poem.” When believers wait, or tarry for the presence of the Holy Spirit in a service to start moving and have His way, will we label it as weird, witchcraft, or something foreign? The working of the Holy Spirit is sometimes considered unfamiliar to the church rather than common to it. The pattern for how the New Testament church functions is clear in the Holy Scriptures, which is unchanging. I have traveled on five continents to see the Church and it is in revival! Jesus is coming back. The Church is alive and well globally. They are passionate, faithful, courageous, and committed, even when they are faced with death, torture or economic isolation. Persecution is a reality and global believers are taught to be ready for this possibility from their beginning stages of discipleship. Most American believers don’t fully understand discipleship. We have been disciplined and desensitized by our electronic addiction so much that we spend 6 to 7 hours a day on devices, but we don’t read our Bible 6 or 7 minutes a day. America has allowed Hollywood to dictate the trends and Disney to raise our kids. Now we are experiencing the results. We need a New Testament Holy Spirit shaking. Will it take this shaking to get America back to 26
w w w. a d o n a i m a g . t v
its’ first love? Will the next crisis in America be the catalyst? I love the words of Jake Hamilton in his song entitled, “The Anthem.” “I can hear the footsteps of my King…I can hear a holy rumbling…Loosing chains and breaking down the walls, I want to hear the Father when He calls. This is the anthem of our generation. Here we are God, shake our nation. I'm gonna shake history. I'm gonna change the world.” God is raising up a new breed of believers out of the mess in America. It’s one with a warrior spirit, but not with the weapons of this world. They have the love and power of Jesus Christ. We have seen many Muslims and homosexuals come to the Jesus Christ over the 16 years of preaching the cross. It wasn’t because we are preaching a message of hate, nor of anger. The Gospel is a message of love, grace, power, hope, redemption and holiness. That is what changes people’s lives, not comparisons or compromises. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV) says, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” It’s time for American to humble ourselves, seek the face of God, repent and get back to the biblical foundation on which America was founded. God has an awesome plan for America in these last days. The greatest revival and awakening we have ever known is before us, not behind us. The thing is, it’s coming through a people broken and humbled. It’s coming through a passionate cry to heaven to touch these United Sates of America with rivers of living water. It’s coming through a remnant of prayer warriors who will be relentless and “hot” in their pursuit of Jesus Christ. So my cry today is, “Where are all the warriors?”
