86th MXG Airmen achieve perfection
Story and photos by Staff Sgt. Jonathan Bass 86th Airlift Wing Public Affairs Airmen assigned to the 86th Maintenance Group on Ramstein Air Base, launch C-130J Super Hercules aircraft every day. But it’s been three years since they launched one like this. The 86th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron’s responsibility is maintaining the 86th Airlift Wing’s fleet. The 86th Maintenance Squadron works to maintain all the support equipment and individual parts needed to maintain the fleet. On May 18, the maintainers launched a ‘Black Letter’ aircraft, a plane with zero maintenance issues from nose to tail, inside and out. “To black letter an aircraft you have to sign off on every discrepancy on the

USAFE hosts staff talks with German air force by Capt. Mayrem Morales U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa Public Affairs Senior leaders from U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa met German air force senior leaders during the second Headquarters USAFE – HQ GAF Staff Talks, May 22 to 23. Approximately seven USAFE senior leaders and four German senior leaders participated in this year’s staff talks. The event allowed senior leaders to discuss issues that were addressed during the first-ever HQ USAFE – HQ GAF Staff Talks last June and plan a way forward for new items of interest in order for both air forces to cultivate a common strategic vision and focus on a bilateral cooperation. “Since May of 1955, we’ve had a
relationship with Germany. They’ve been our host nation since the end of World War II,” said Brig. Gen. Dieter Bareihs, Director of Plans, Programs and Analysis for Headquarters USAFE - AFAFRICA. “We faced a lot of challenges back then and we will continue to work together to face future challenges.” Staff talks commenced with opening remarks from Bareihs and Brig. Gen Jan Kuerbart, German air force headquarters deputy chief of staff plans and programs. U.S. and German senior leaders went on to present briefings which outlined each nations’ air force capabilities, exercises, and strategies across both Europe and Africa. These presentations facilitated discusSee STAFF TALKS, Page 3

Page 2 PERFECTION from Page 1 aircraft,” said Staff Sgt. Kyle Shea, 86th AMXS dedicated crew chief. Many aircraft have simple superficial issues which are noted on an inspection but still maintain operational status and are safe to fly. But on Shea’s Herc, every issue was resolved thanks to the hard work of both the 86th AMXS and the 86th MXS. Shea hasn’t seen a black letter in his
nine years of fixing Hercs. “This is very important for the maintenance group and the airlift wing,” said Shea. “Our aircraft need to be in top-notch shape for the missions we support all around the world. But to get them there is a lot of hard work.” To make this happen Shea and his assistant crew chief, Airman 1st Class Kyle Hodge, worked countless hours and spent many long days working on tail 5822, Hodge said.
June 1, 2018
“We had a lot of dedication and support from the 86th AMXS and 86th MXS to be able to get to where we are now,” said Hodge. Shea said that this wasn’t a quick fix. They have worked on tail 5822 since January to obtain all the needed parts and correct all the issues, no matter how small. “The 86th AMXS and 86th MXS worked hard together to make this happen,” said Tech. Sgt. Robert Paradis,
86th MXS isochronal inspection section chief. “The 86th AMXS knows they can count on us and we’ll do whatever we can to get the mission accomplished.” Shea and Hodge are the first crew chiefs for their plane, which they nicknamed “The Yeager Express,” in honor of retired Brig. Gen. Chuck Yeager. For their efforts, Shea and Hodge flew with the aircraft on its initial black letter flight.

KMC honors Kindergraves Civilians and military members pay respects to the 458 infants at the Kindergraves May 19 at Kaiserslautern Main Cemetery.
Story and photos by Airman 1st Class Milton Hamilton 86th Airlift Wing Public Affairs The annual Kindergraves memorial was held May 19 at the Kaiserslautern Main Cemetery. It’s been said that parents should never have to experience outliving their children, but too often parents are faced with harsher realities. 458 American infants who died at
birth or shortly after birth from 19521971 were buried in different locations at the Kaiserslautern Main Cemetery. In 1968, when the 25 year lease of the burial ground was coming to an end, the Kindergraves were at risk of being moved. Local organizations sprang into action. The German American and International Women’s Club and the Ramstein Area Chiefs’ Group played an important role in renewing the lease.
Civilians and military members bow their heads for prayer during the Kindergraves Memorial May 19 at Kaiserslautern Main Cemetery. Participants prayed individually after being led in prayer by two different chaplains.
The Kaiserslautern Kindergraves Memorial Foundation was founded and helped to consolidate the graves into a central location. Donations from the public helped to secure a new 25-year lease. This year’s memorial began in the Daenner Kaserne Chapel in Kaiserslautern and concluded with a wreath laying ceremony at the gravesite. The Ramstein Area Chief ’s Group attended, as well as Ramstein
High School’s Jr. Reserve Officer Training Corps color guard and city government representatives. The Kindergraves receive no funding from government organizations. The upkeep of the graves depends solely on volunteers and donations from the local community. The 786th Civil Engineer Squadron is conducting water hyrdrant flow testing throughout the Kaiserslautern Military Community for the next several weeks. There are two purposes for the hydrant flow test, said Tech. Sgt. Laurnel Blount, 786th CES utilities noncommissioned officer in charge. “The water on base is on a loop system, so the main purpose is just to keep the flow of water moving around base,” said Blount. “Hydrant preventive maintenance is the other goal of our test. We make sure when the fire department has to put out a fire, the hydrant has sufficient water and pressure.” The water plant contractors are doing a full system flush, so residents’ water might be brown for a short period of time. “We’re doing a base-wide notification to let residents know when the entire water systems is flushed, rust may surface in the water, making it brown,” said Blount. “The water might not taste good, but it’s still safe to drink.” Some water around base does become stagnant, so the hydrants are opened to allow old water to flush out and fresh water to flush in. “Hydrant flow testing is required to be conducted annually, but we do it as needed,” said Blount. The hydrant flow tests are vital for maintaing the quality of water on base as well as ensuring that lives can be saved when necessary.

Like a boss – Boots to Business helps transitioning veterans become entrepreneurs Story and photo by Mary Davis U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz Public Affairs Office Some military members transitioning from the U.S. armed forces will soon have a new boss — themselves. Thanks to the Boots to Business Program, sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration, transitioning veterans have the opportunity to follow their dreams of entrepreneurship as they transfer back to the civilian sector. “B2B is an entrepreneurial education and training program offered by the Small Business Administration as part of the Soldier for Life — Transition Assistance Program,” said Lew Lewis, U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz Transition Services manager. “The program provides transitioning service members and military spouses an overview of the business-ownership process, opportunities and challenges, what it means to be an entrepreneur and military skills and attributes that transfer over to entrepreneurship.” B2B began in 2012 through a joint initiative between the Department of Defense and SBA and later expanded through a contract with the Institute for Veterans and Military Families Program at Syracuse University, New York, in 2014. The university has offered the “Entrepreneurship Boot Camp for Veterans” since 2007, which took B2B to transitioning veterans worldwide through the work of IVMF Executive Director J. Michael Haynie, Professor of Entrepreneurship and Air Force veteran. “The principal reason why veterans make good entrepreneurs is the skills they learned in the military are transferrable to an entrepreneurship setting,” said Todd Moss, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises at Syracuse University and B2B instructor. “Skills such as problem solving, team management, flexibility, resiliency, reliability and mission focus are all a part of being successful in the military and entrepreneurship.” There are a number of tools the program provides service members, such as creating a value proposition, conducting market research and understanding their economic model, Moss explained. These are brought together in a business model canvas, which shows how the different parts of a business model fit together to deliver a customer-focused value proposition. July 4 will mark the end of his 25-year military career and the beginning of a new business venture for

Sgt. Maj. Andy Kochan, a senior aircraft manager with the 21st Theater Sustainment Command. Kochan dreams of starting an eco-friendly transportation company in San Antonio that would start with electric delivery vehicles and later expand to aviation. “It would be a green company that uses electric delivery vehicles, and I want to take it a step further and produce electricity on my own so that I don’t even have to tap into the grid,” said Kochan, who is also a pilot. “I thought of the aviation business five years ago while I was deployed. I discovered all those gaps in capacity and infrastructure in many overseas locations, but because the entry point into the aviation business is so high from the funding perspective, I thought there might be some other ways where I could do that as far as the transportation company.” Kochan also learned that starting a “green” company will benefit the environment as well as provide him a business tax break. “Environmental awareness has always been a big part of my life. I strongly believe in improving the environment and leaving as little behind as we can,” Kochanr said. “I thought what better way to positively contribute to our environment than by taking a few trucks off of the road and replacing them with electric trucks that put no carbon emissions into the air.” The B2B class built a solid foundation for Spc. Jalisa Bryant and her husband Carvin who plan to start a real estate business when she separates from the Army in November. “We inherited some property in North Carolina, but we didn’t want to live there,” explained Bryant, a
human resources specialist with the 30th Medical Brigade. “So, the idea came to us that we should rent it.” Once inspiration was planted, their business idea grew into buying, selling and renting houses, she said. “We are moving to Florida, so we thought we could start our business in North Carolina and expand it down to Florida,” said Bryant, who is eager to start their new enterprise in a few months. “My hope is that ten years from now, this business will become our primary source of income.” B2B helped Bryant answer questions and learn what resources are available for start-up businesses, she said. “When you start a business, there are a lot of questions you might have, so having someone who can provide you with answers is great.” For Capt. Amanda Darling, establishing a not-for-profit organization to assist high school seniors with their after-graduation choices was born from her sister’s experience. “I’ve noticed people who are about to graduate or have graduated high school are sometimes misinformed or lack information to help them with their next steps,” Darling said. “I learned from my sister, Briana — a rising sophomore at Ohio State University, who didn’t really understand the spectrum of opportunities that were out there.” As a result, Darling is pioneering a non-profit transition program giving people different pathways for success after high school, she said. “Whether their pathway is trade, apprenticeship, military, post-secondary education or public service, I want to provide an opportunity for them to meet mentors who have experience in each of those sectors and teach them
how to break into those areas,” she said. As her second time attending the B2B program, Darling said attendees receive in two days what Syracuse University students study in an entire semester. “You get only two days with the instructors, so you drink the information from a fire hose and then go back home and digest it,” said Darling. “Two days barely scratches the surface, so I’ve also reached out the instructors after the fact to ask questions, and they’ve opened up their networks to me as well.” After the two-day course, attendees can also register to take several online courses available through the SBA, Moss said. They are also introduced to the broader suite of services the IVMF made available for veterans transitioning out of the military at www.ivmf. syracuse.edu. “The program benefits military members by helping them to understand that their military service is excellent preparation for pursuing entrepreneurship,” Moss said. “In fact, veterans start businesses at about three times the rate of non-veterans. So, take advantage of the numerous opportunities to learn more about entrepreneurship. The skills you learn will be beneficial to you regardless of your new career choice after you transition out of the military.” For more information about the B2B program or upcoming classes, visit the SFLTAP Office in Kaiserslatutern located in Bldg. 3205 at Kleber Kaserne or call 5411400 or 0611-143-541-1400 or visit their office in Baumholder located in Bldg. 8670 at Smith Barracks or call 531-2610 or 0611-143-531-2610.

ANTWERP,
BELGIUM
—
Tanks, trucks and mobile artillery rolled off the first of three ships to arrive at the port here May 20, as a new U.S. Army armored brigade took up the mission to provide a continuous presence in Eastern Europe. Troops and equipment from 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, out of Fort Hood, Texas, will replace 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, out of Fort Riley, Kansas, which has been in Europe for nine months in support of Atlantic Resolve. This is the third iteration of continuing “heel-to-toe” rotations to maintain a U.S. armored brigade in Europe. While the unit will be stationed primarily in Poland, Romania and other Eastern European countries, the equipment arrived through Antwerp to exercise the ability to move equipment across Europe quickly and efficiently using multiple methods of transportation. Antwerp hasn’t been used for a major U.S. military movement of this nature for the last 10 to 20 years. “It’s very thrilling to come back to Antwerp after so long and see the capacity you have here and bring United States armored units through Antwerp,” said Maj. Gen. Steven Shapiro, commanding general, 21st Theater Sustainment Command. “Sometimes what is old is new again, and that is coming in here. Antwerp and Rotterdam were major ports when we were operating during the Cold War…We are coming back to Antwerp in a big way.” Shapiro added that the movement of vehicles will move via convoy, line-haul, river barge and train in what he called a multi-modal movement. He emphasized that this mission increases the unit’s capabilities and allows

the U.S. to become better working partners with allies such as Belgium. A part of the unit will arrive immediately move to Poland to participate in the upcoming Saber Strike exercise while other pieces of equipment will go to France for a Paris military event. “It’s a totally different type of deployment,” said Col. Wilson “Trey” Rutherford IV, commander, 1/1CD. “We could have gone into the port of Gdansk, (Poland), which is much closer, but we wanted to exercise this port, exercise the barge movement, the line haul and the convoys. This is very different from the 2/1 (ABCT) and 3/4 (ABCT) deployments, but the goal is to learn as much as we can.” Rutherford said he couldn’t be more happy with Antwerp and the support from the Belgian military, which provided security and the port. “I’m just excited to be here,” he said. “I started my career in Germany, and now 25 years later I am taking the brigade to Poland.” He added that the bri-
gade had been preparing for about a year to take on the mission and coordinate the movement from Texas to Antwerp, and from there to
the rest of Europe to support the Atlantic Resolve mission. About 2,500 pieces of equipment will come through the port including 87 M1
Abrams tanks, 138 armored personnel carriers, 18 Paladin self-propelled howitzers, and more than a thousand other military vehicles.

Shapiro, 21st TSC commanding general, during a change of responsibility ceremony May 18 at Daenner Kaserne. by Capt. Doug Magill 21st Theater Sustainment Command U.S. Army Europe’s logistics command changed its senior enlisted advisor, May 18, during a change of responsibility ceremony. Command Sgt. Maj. Rocky Carr assumed responsibility for the 21st Theater Sustainment Command from Command Sgt. Maj. Alberto Delgado during a ceremony on Daenner Kaserne. Delgado will be the command sergeant major for U.S. Army North, a three-star U.S. Army Service
Component Command based in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Carr becomes the 17th command sergeant major in the two-star command’s history. Maj. Gen. Steven A. Shapiro, 21st TSC commanding general, praised Delgado for his work on improving the quality of life of Soldiers. Shapiro also thanked him for his time, coaching and mentorship. However, Shapiro did not let Delgado go without giving some lighthearted jesting. “I know how hard it can be, especially being overseas,” Shapiro said. “However,
there’s nothing better than being a Soldier and being a Soldier in U.S. Army Europe. So, are you moving on to something bigger? Yes. Better? Not in your life.” Shapiro went on to say that Delgado had planted seeds of readiness that were just now starting to bloom and was looking forward continuing that positive momentum with Carr. Delgado credited his Soldiers for their hard work. “You’re a terrific team that left it all on the field for me,” he said. “You did everything I asked and more, with good grace, good humor, professional competence
and maturity beyond your years. Because of you, this organization is ready.” Carr comes to the 21st Theater Sustainment Command after serving as the command sergeant major of the 409th Contracting Support Brigade. “There’s no other unit I’d rather be joining than team 21,” Carr said. “This is a dynamic and unique sustainment command that literally deters aggression from the Baltics to the Black Sea by delivering and sustaining readiness. I look forward to keeping the 21st TSC as a source of great pride in (U.S. Army Europe) and our Army.”

Kaiserslautern takes softball, soccer championships; Ramstein boys win track title by Thomas Warner contributing writer Several area schools saw their teams advance to the late rounds of this past weekend’s DODEA Europeans spring sports championships and two from Kaiserslautern won it all. The Kaiserslautern Lady Raiders won the school’s first-ever softball crown and the Kaiserslautern soccer boys repeated last year’s championship by securing another Division I crown. Ramstein High also enjoyed success, taking the boys’ team title at the track and field competition after the Lady Royals soccer squad fell in the closing minutes of their title match with Stuttgart. Ramstein and Stuttgart were tied 0-0 after regulation time expired and it was Stuttgart winning an extra session shootout to take the plaque. Kaiserslautern’s baseball boys also made it to the finals, but were knocked off by Lakenheath in the late innings. Over the next few weeks, we will run larger reports on various sports championships tournaments that were happening at the end of May around the Kaiserslautern Military Community. We will provide more in-depth reports and exhibit photographs of all the sports activities our various schools were involved in to close the 201718 school year.
lot today,” said Phoenix Whisennand. “I waited four years. We’ve always gotten third or fourth. This time we are champs.” Lakenheath’s runner-up award came after the Lady Lancers had scored seven runs the fourth frame but KHS freshman outfielder Hin Hyunh had a triple, two doubles and four total hits batting from the ninth spot in the order to fuel the Lady Raiders’ comeback. Hyunh and others near the bottom of the batting order bolstered the heavyweight senior class of the Whisennand twins, Alamos, and Victoria Jackson who also were instrumental over the course of Europeans tournament play. “It was a long day and it was a hard day, I’m so proud of Euros softball MVP these girls for Phoenix Whisennand continuing the overcome adversity and never quit … they just never quit,” Kaiserslautern head coach Jesse Costa said. “This team lost against Vilseck (this past Friday) but they came back out and beat Vicenza to make it into the semifinals. Ramstein was tough to meet up with again …

SOFTBALL Kaiserslautern makes school history with first girls’ diamond title Kaiserslautern met Ramstein in the semifinals at Kapaun base and overcame a three-run deficit to win 5-4. That win set up what many might have seen as an anticlimatic finals date with Lakenheath, but KHS had to fight for its life and overcome another big deficit to win 9-8. Chloe Whissenand had the final RBI-hit to bring home the winning runs as Kaiserslautern and it’s many fans celebrated what had never been done at the school. Senior standout Phoenix Whisennand threw a complete game against Ramstein then relieved Ally Alamos in the title game, capping an extraordinary diamond career with the Lady Raiders. She was named Euros most valuable player. “My arm is exhausted but I’m so excited … we had to push through a

Ramstein is always going to come ready to play because they are well-coached and have really good players. We just had to treat every game at Europeans as just another opponent. We couldn’t treat any game more important than any other one. Lakenheath, Ramstein, us … the tournament was filled with good teams.” SOCCER Rimmler, Jankowski, Zorrilla, Ard help Raiders to second straight DODEA championship Kaiserslautern did what many area soccer enthusiasts thought was impossible, zooming through Europeans tournament play without a loss and beating Stuttgart for the Division I championship. The Raiders took their second straight DODEA title despite graduating a good number of starters from last year’s title team. A 1-1 tie with Ramstein was their toughest match, but goalkeeper Enrico Ard was hard to get past at Euros. “They worked hard and came through a lot of adversity to win Euros soccer MVP it this year,” said Philipp Rimmler Kaiserslautern coach Dominic Stumpf. “Many of these guys had never played the positions we asked them to play and they had to learn how, so it took time for us to come together.” The Raiders struggled to find their image early on and actually lost 4-1 to Stuttgart at the start of the regular season. Last weekend, sophomore Philipp Rimmler was named Euros tournament most valuable player and his mother, a KHS assistant coach, said his chemistry with seniors Pablo Zorrilla and Tyler Jankowski was one of several aspects in the team’s title trek. “They formed what we called our “triangle” and they really controlled things inside that space, giving us opportunities to do so many things at both ends of the pitch,” said Lisa Rimmler. “Every player on this roster gave us an ingredient for success and they had the best coach you could find in Dom Stumpf. All of them followed Coach Dom and bought in when he gave directions. He is the main reason this team did what it did.” BASEBALL Lakenheath edges past Kaiserslautern in final innings for championship The Raiders got past Wiesbaden 8-7 in the semifinals thanks to solid pitching by Nolan Sherman late in the game. That set up a meeting with Lakenheath;

making its second straight championship game appearance. “The title game was a real classic and it’s what a championship game ought to look like,” said KHS coach Justin Bates. “We hit the ball hard all day and so did Lakenheath. It was 5-5 going into the last innings and they put up four there at the end with some really hard-hit balls that stayed fair along the lines. We were making our second finals appearance in the past three seasons but Lakenheath was sort of on a mission, too.” Ramstein also found a spot playing in the Saturday semifinals, but lost in the last inning to Lakenheath. That turned the tables from a year ago, when it was Ramstein beating LHS in a down-to-the-wire Euros title game. The Lancers had new coaches this season but still featured several of the same players who’d come so close in 2017. Ramstein wound up in fourth place after losing 8-1 to Wiesbaden in the consolation game. The Warriors and Royals had staged a mammoth clash during the final stages of pool play and it was on both teams’ minds that they wanted to meet up again. As it stands, Ramstein returns all but two of its players next season and will be in position during head coach Travis Shoffner’s second season to potentially advance deep into Euros play.

Baumholder hurdler Solo Turgeon raced with the big schools and kept pace, tying for a win in the 110 meter hurdles with Wiesbaden’s Garrett Armel, then placing second in the 300 hurdles when he was nipped at the tape by Wiesbaden’s Caelum Wallace. lete for field events. The track title for Ramstein was not unexpected, since the Royal boys won just about every meet they entered. Strong showings in the relays helped them throughout the season and coaches constructed the best groupings for the last relay races Saturday based on earlier meet qualifications. Wins in the distance races were highlighted by a sweep of five out of the top six places in the 3,200 meter run and three of the top four spots in the 1,600 meters. Euros MVP Jose Serrano won first place in both of those races, edging teammate Dash Rogers twice at the tape. Serrano also nipped fellow Royal runner Nick Clinton in the 800 as Ramstein took four of the top five places in that event. Denver Dalpais and Jackie Harris also finished high in events for Ramstein to gain points toward the team title.

In the Thirty Years’ War (1618 to 1648), the castle was conquered by the Spanish, the Croatians and the Swedish. The French destroyed it in 1689. By FindItGuideProperties.com Excerpts courtesy of German-American Community Office You have been searching for the perfect house for your retirement and you finally found it! It is just the right size for your new life after work and you are ready to pull the trigger on it. Before that next great leap, there are some things you will need to do. If you wish to retire in Germany and are no longer associated with the U.S. military, you will lose your SOFA status and consequently will become a tourist. A regular U.S. citizen can stay in Germany for 90 days without requiring a residence permit. You will fall under this category as soon as you retire. What you have to do is apply for a residence permit (Aufenthaltsgenehmigung) at the Foreigners’ Registration
Office (Ausländerbehörde). If you live in the City of Kaiserslautern (city includes: Dansenberg, Einsiedlerhof, Erfenbach with Lampertsmühle and Stockborn, Erlenbach, Hohenecken with Espensteig, Mölschbach, Morlautern with Waldhof, and Siegelbach) then the office in RathausNord, Benzinoring 1, is the appropriate office for you. If you live in Kaiserslautern County (county includes: Bann, BruchmühlbachMiesau, Enkenbach-Alsenborn, Erzenhausen, Eulenbis, Fischbach, Frankelbach, Frankenstein, Gerhardsbrunn, Hauptstuhl, Heiligenmoschel, Hirschhorn/Pfalz, Hochspeyer, Hütschenhausen, Katzweiler, Kindsbach, Kollweiler, KottweilerSchwanden, Krickenbach, Lambsborn, Landstuhl, Langwieden, Linden, Mackenbach, Martinshöhe, Mehlbach, Mehlingen, Mittelbrunn, Neuhemsbach, Niederkirchen, Niedermohr, Oberarnbach, Olsbrücken, Otterbach, Otterberg, Queidersbach, Ramstein-Miesenbach, ReichenbachSteegen, Rodenbach, Schallodenbach, Schneckenhausen, Schopp, Schwedelbach, Sembach, Steinwenden, Stelzenberg, Sulzbachtal, Trippstadt, Waldleiningen, and Weilerbach), then you would need to contact the Foreigners’ Registration Office in the County Administration (Kreisverwaltung), Lauterstr. 8.

You found the perfect house for retirement in Germany. Now what? You will have to provide the following: • Proof of income (Einkommensnachweis). Submitting copies of your retirement pay is usually sufficient. • Proof of health insurance (Krankenversicherung). If you remain covered through the U.S. system, then submit proof of this. Otherwise, you will have to acquire health insurance on the German economy. • Passports and photos of you and each family member. If you are married and your spouse is not German, the above items are also required of your spouse. You will also need to submit a marriage certificate, regardless of your spouse’s nationality. It is advisable to start early on these things, however, as long as you have SOFA status, you cannot start this process.
When you lose your status, you will be considered a U.S. tourist who just entered the

Also, you will not receive German health benefits if you do not pay into the German health care system through employment. Therefore, you will only receive a residence permit if you already have your own health care. If you do end up working on the
economy, you will then pay for German health insurance, which entitles you to receive German health benefits. There is no specific job you will need to acquire in order to stay in Germany. Most retirees have sufficient income through their pension.
