ELEMENTARY

PROGRAM Grades K–5, No Experience Required SING, DANCE, ACT!, GRADES K–1

While working on a song and dance number from popular family musicals, students will learn stage performance basics, vocal instruction, and simple Broadway dance combinations.

BROADWAY PREP, GRADES 2–3

Broadway Prep adds emotion and character in song, scene, and movement. Developing these skills individually and as an ensemble, students analyze scripts and songs for performance, learn correct terminology, and illustrate an understanding of musical theatre basics.

BRIDGE TO BROADWAY, GRADES 4–5

Bridge to Broadway includes more specific and challenging instruction in the three areas of musical theatre performance. Students extend range and character development through physical and vocal exploration, formal study of ballet and jazz, audition preparation, lyrical and text analysis, improv techniques, and continued study of ensemble.

SCHOLARSHIP STUDENT’S STORY MEET CARLOS CASTILLO, SUCCESSFUL ALUMNUS I am a rising Junior Acting Major at Rider University. Last year, I appeared in three Rider productions; the Gershwin’s Of Thee I Sing, Inherit the Wind, and Gallathea, which we took to the Dionysus Festival in Croatia this past Spring! Professionally, I have performed in various readings in the Kennedy Center’s New Visions and Page to Stage festivals, including the premier of JJ’s Arcade, Altar Boyz at the Off Broadstreet theater in Hopewell, New Jersey, and I am currently spending my summer understudying for Wonderland: Alice’s Rock & Roll Adventure and instructing the talented campers at Adventure Theatre MTC’s Summer Musical Theatre Camp at the Atlas Performing Arts Center and the Department of Recreation in Silver Spring. The main thing I learned from my time at ATMTC was how to carry myself with a sense of professionalism at all times. Having the experience of keeping myself on a strict schedule, getting to rehearsal early, and studying my craft constantly has prepared me very well for the college and professional world. Additionally, studying at ATMTC led to many of the connections I have with other people working in the theatre scene. I am eternally grateful for the opportunity that ATMTC gave me to be a scholarship student, and for introducing me to the world of professional theatre!

Did you know? No student is ever turned away from ATMTC Academy for their inability to pay. To find out more about applying for scholarships, visit ATMTC Academy online at www.adventuretheatre-mtc.org or call 301.251.5766. To make a contribution toward scholarship students, contact our Director of Development, Kathryn Hnatio Vicere at 301.251.5766.
