ABOUT THE CIVIL CONTRACTORS FEDERATION

NATIONAL OVERVIEW Civil Contractors Federation (CCF) is the member-based, employer association that represents and promotes the interests of civil contractors in Australia. Nationally, CCF represents some 1,700 civil contractor members in an industry of approximately 350,000 people. Its members vary in size from small businesses to national companies, and are involved in a range of projects and activities including the development and maintenance of civil infrastructure such as roads, bridges, wharves and commercial and housing land development. In addition to its civil contractor members, CCF also has associate members, which are organisations that support the civil construction industry, such as equipment suppliers and professional services firms like law practices. The Federation is made up of a network of branches across Australia, with offices located in each state and territory, as well as a National Office. Each branch has a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who is responsible for the operations and service delivery of the branch, and an elected board, made up of contractor members who provide governance and strategic direction. CCF’s National Office is managed by the National CEO and is governed by the National Board, which is made up of representatives from each state and territory. The National Board sets the strategic direction and acts as the policy making group for the Federation nationally.

CCF QLD OVERVIEW CCF Queensland Branch (CCF QLD) has offices located in Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns. It represents some 200 civil contractor and over 80 associate members. As the Queensland Branch of the CCF, CCF QLD actively works with government and industry within Queensland, to address key issues and improve the operating environment of its members. It also contributes to national policies and advocacy activities to ensure Queensland is appropriately represented at a national level.

CIVIL TRAIN VERIFICATION OF COMPETENCY SERVICE Since the revised work health and safety legislation came into effect on 1 January 2012, Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) no longer control the issue of plant operator licenses for load shifting equipment. Though the WH&S load shifting licence is no longer required there is still a requirement for plant operators to be competent. It is now the responsibility of persons conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) to ensure their employees are competent to perform required tasks. This includes the use of load shifting equipment. One method of determining the existing competency of an operator, is for the operator to complete a Verification of Competency (VOC), which can be conducted by a Registered Training Organisation such as Civil Train. A VOC is an assessment method which may determine whether a person can safely operate a piece of equipment for which they hold the certificate or competency or other relevant formal qualification. VOCs are done on site and take around 45 minutes to complete.

Contact Civil Train today to have the competency of your operators verified! BRISBANE
