About the Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association The Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association (IMVIA) is the premier body representing independent motor traders of new, used and imported vehicles, Japanese, UK and Singaporean exporters, shipping companies, ports companies, customs agents, logistics companies, compliance shops and many others in the industry For nearly 3 decades, the IMVIA has worked hard for members; over the next we will be working even harder. About the Vehicle Service Federation The Vehicle Service Federation was formed as the New Zealand Service Station Proprietors Federation (Inc.) in 1961. In the 1980’s we changed our name to Service Station Federation. In 1996 to recognise the changing dynamics of the automotive industry, the current name of the Vehicle Service Federation was adopted. The Federation has always been a pressure group, and exists for all members of the automotive trade. The current executive are committed to the industry and have 100% belief in the VSF mission statement: • To provide services, education and assistance to the automotive industry. • To secure the future for members in the automotive industry in New Zealand. • To help you run your business - not tell you how to run it.
VSF Executive members are: • Neville Boyd (Auckland) is the current President of the federation and has experience in all aspects of the trade, having operated a workshop, service station and was a LMVD for many years. • John Jensen (Tauranga) Over 30 years in the trade, the last 20 running his own business. Now operating a WoF business in the Western BOP. • Allan Murray (Huntly) was previously Service Manager for Waikato Nissan agents. Allan & Bronwyn then set up Allan Murray Farm Services which has been operating since 1977. • Tony McHugh (Auckland) RCA Chairman – Senior Repair Certifier. Previously owner/ operator of own Panel repair business. • Dennis Miller (Auckland) former automotive trade owner/operators for many years. • Darryl Mortimer (Fielding) has had 35 years in the trade. Starting as an apprentice in Nelson, and for the last 25 years has owned his own workshop in Fielding. • Brendan Cartwright (Christchurch) has worked in the automotive industry for over 30 years, the last 15 in his own business. • Peter Kung (Auckland) is the VESIA executive member on the VSF. Peter runs his own auto electrical business in Penrose. • Deane McMillan Wellington RCA executive member & Owner/Operator of his own Panel/Paint business VSF is proud to have Unitec, Stocks & Manukau Institute of Technology as Corporate sponsors.
About the Repair Certifiers Association Code of conduct The Association expects high standards from its members. The primary objective of the Association is to present itself and its members to the Compliance Industry and Land Transport New Zealand as competent, responsible and accountable.
About the Repair Certifiers Association Repair Certifiers are a group of professional panel beaters involved in the struc-tural examination of Imported Motor Vehicles. They are licensed by NZ Transport Agency to inspect and co-ordinate satisfactory repair methods to retain the integri-ty of the NZ motor vehicle fleet. To become an authorised Repair Certifier, a panel beater must apply to NZ Transport Agency, Vehicle Certification Unit. He will be expected to sit and pass proficiency tests to a high standard. The VSF have details about the Application Pack and can provide access to an Approved Induction course. About Vesia Vesia members work with the RCA members to certify the integrity of the Electronic Systems in vehicles. They are a group of highly qualified auto electricians with special expertise in the problems associated with SRS particularly. To become a member one must produce evidence of proficiency & equipment necessary, & work with a Repair Certifier in his area. A proficiency test & other conditions apply. The members of the association will be strategically situated countrywide.
