Passing from the Fairley family to the Gaylards in 1925, and then onto Michaels IGA Group in 2012, the business has not only become an entrenched part of the community but has grown into a thriving and award-winning supermarket.
On the cusp of an exciting new development, Fairleys IGA is set to build a new state-of-the-art supermarket as part of a new commercial and retail centre in North Shepparton.
To be built on Numurkah Road and Hawkins Street, the $63M investment will service the growing needs of the burgeoning community, with the new supermarket as a key feature.
Long-time advocate for the development, and managing director of Fairleys IGA, Michael Lorenz said,
“Fairleys has been meeting the needs of Shepparton residents for more than 130 years. Since taking ownership in 2012, we have been lobbying for a new, improved supermarket building to ensure we provide shopping experience for our customers.”
While maintaining that the new IGA will continue to ‘stay alive’ to local demand and buy local ‘supplies’ wherever it could, Michael reaffirmed the business’ core values,
“Fairleys will continue to offer the largest range of supermarket items for the community in Shepparton at the best prices with a friendly smile and great service. The new building will be important in many ways, from improving sustainability issues to better meeting our customer demands.”
Over 140 years of combined experience

When Pat and Tina joined the BP family over 45 years ago, customers filling up at BP Shepparton were immediately greeted by two of the biggest smiles in the business. Great customer service was a trademark well-known to locals around the district. The family partnership continues today as Tina, her son Joe and his wife Angela continue to bring great passion to the business. Such long-standing relationships are a testament to the family’s innovation and commitment to their customers in Shepparton. Still going strong and servicing the district with a Smile.
