Advocate Art was founded in 1992, with a group of illustrators who liked the idea of having an agent but not the other things that often came with that. We call our ethos four “F.A.C.T.s”: Fairness, Ability, Creativity and Trust. It’s about doing the right thing and being with the right people. We think our principles set us apart from conventional agencies, sticking to them has meant we have attracted the most creative illustrators and artists who in turn attract (with a little help) the best clients. The people we represent are perfectly able to conduct their own affairs but like working with Advocate Art because we offer value to them in the services we provide. Clients are assured that we represent artists that are like-minded professionals, pre-vetted and able not only to get the job done without fuss, but also to surpass expectations. It’s their choice to be with us, we have a high retention rate - with the most popular artists in our group being with us from the start! We were one of the first Agencies to give direct client contact with our illustrators, allowing creativity to flow without being diluted in translation. We were one of the first to offer re-sales as an important secondary income to artists. Now we have gone beyond that too, with the development of an on-line portal - ARTicle which enables artists to have transparency into the back office functions of the business, such as royalty management and credit control, amongst other things. Business is all about relationships, which is why we have a very high artist to agent ratio, clients often use us as artistic advisors, project managers as well a trend forward resource for pre-qualified talent. It is for these reasons that Advocate Art has become the largest illustration agency around and I’d like to think one of the most respected but- we understand we didn’t get that way by acting like the biggest. ADAM HORSEPOOL

Adam is a self taught illustrator and concept designer, who loves Animation and Visual Development. His work is influenced by his illustration heroes, Dice Tsutsumi, Robert Kondo and Jeff Turley. When it comes to film, he definitely looks to Wes Anderson who really pushes artistic boundaries in all of his films. He has tonnes of “The Art of….” books that are just so inspiring and motivate him to develop his work. He is committed to bring quality illustration and concept art to a wide range of audiences through a variety of different ways and styles. He concentrates on light and colour and make that the driving force of his artwork. Creating images with a lot of texture that enhances the look and feel of his work. He really enjoys the outdoors; days walking with his pooch and a sketchbook in hand can be some of the most enjoyable. He is an incredibly grounded guy who loves the simple life and food. He truly has the best and most chilled job; there aren’t a lot of people who can say they have a hobby as a career!

ADRIANA SANTOS

Adriana Santos was born in Seville, a beautiful city in the south of Spain, and she currently lives in a small town nearby. She studied Fine Arts at Seville University and after working as a graphic designer for almost twelve years she decided to pursue her interest in illustration. It made sense because she had spent most of her time between books and crayons since she was a child. It was a great decision! She loves saturating her work with good moods, playful banter, hidden details, vibrant colours and a little bit of tenderness. She usually likes to mix the warm feeling of the pencils and pen with the bright and intense colours of digital in her work and to add warm textures. In her free time, she reads books and hangs out with her children: two big sources of inspiration for her work. She simply adores what she does and she always says that there is never a dull moment.

Agata lives in Warsaw, Poland, where she was born. She has loved to draw since she was a little girl. Then adult life came and Agata didn’t draw as much, focused on her new responsibilities. She was working for many years as a graphic designer, mostly for corporate clients. She bought herself a small graphic tablet for Xmas in 2014 to draw something in her free time for fun. Instead she found her true passion again. In 2015 she won Wacom Cintiq in the illustration contest and started to work for some big publishers in Poland. She loves to draw magic, nature and animals. Her son is her first critic and he also loves to draw. Agata never planned to become an illustrator but she’s very happy that her life went that way. She’s so thrilled to see what is ahead for her!

ALAN BROWN

Alan is a freelance artist who started out as a storyboard artist for a London agency, Before back to his roots in the North East to pursue a career in graphic design. As much as he loved working in design for large blue chip clients, Alans love has always been illustration, so 13 years on, via a stint as a tattoo artist he arrived at Advocates door. Since Joining Advocate Art a year and a half ago Alan has be fortunate to work on a variety of jobs including Ben 10 Omniverse graphic novels for Viz Media, as well as childrens book illustrations for the likes of Harper Collins and Watts. He can turn his hand to many styles to suit the client, but with a keen interest in the comic book world he is at home working on bold graphic pieces and strip work. Working from an attic studio along with his trusty side kick, Ollie the miniature schnauzer (miniature in size, giant in personality and appetite), and his two sons Wilf and Teddy.

ALESSANDRO VALDRIGHI

Alessandro was born in February1980 in a beautiful little place called Castiglione della Pescaia, just by the sea. He studied in Florence and graduated with A Bachelor’s degree from prestigious “Accademia delle Belle Arti” as a set designer. Before going to university, when he was a child, Alessandro started drawing by copying comics and illustrations from books. He believes that’s the main reason he is able to tackle multiple styles and enjoys a challenge each respective style brings. He worked as a cartoonist, illustrator and concept artist (his favourite), with traditional and digital media. Alessandro also won a prize for his comic called “Lagrimas en la lluvia”, featured as the best comic book publication published in Spain in 2011.

Alex was born in Bilbao. He tried his hand at pretty much everything illustration industry has to offer, from childrenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s books to animation to storyboarding for advertising agencies and many other jobs. He loves good TV series, unusual films, and, of course comic books!

ALFREDO BELLI

Alfredo Belli lives and works in Rome. He illustrates childrenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s books and school books on behalf of various publishers, spanning age ranges from preschool trough teen. He also contributes to advertising, graphic and web design agencies. He uses a wide-range of styles and techniques as digital or traditional as pencils, inks, watercolours, acrylics and mixed media

AMERIGO PINELLI

Amerigo Pinelli lives in the heart of the city of Naples, Italy, among narrow streets and old churches. A long time ago, when he was a child, he met a pencil, and from that moment on he started to play, joke, fight, and make peace with it. He studied in the Art School of Naples and the Comic School of his hometown. After this he specialised in illustration at the International School of Illustration S. ZavĹ&#x2122;el. He worked for animation and for publishing. He thinks making a living from doing the thing he enjoys the most is a great gift and he considers himself very lucky. He works digital but always does a pencil drawing first. Sometimes he misses the feeling of getting his hands dirty with watercolors, tempera, acrylic or inks, so he prefer to use all the tools depending on the job. Also he feels mixing techniques is always fun! His two daughters Chiara and Teresa made his life full of color and joy. They are really unpredictable! For him and his wife Giulia itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s impossible getting bored.

ANDREA ROSSETTO

Andrea was born and currently works in Vincenza. He graduated with a Discipline of the arts, music and entertainment from the University of Bologna. Since 2004, he has been working as an illustrator and cartoonist for several publishers. His interest in arts began with cartoons and comics, which led him to his three-dimensional style that is in some cases realistic and in others more cartoon. Over the years he realised his style was more suitable for illustration for children, especially the young sector. He prefers this because it gives him the opportunity to create humorous characters and use bright colours inspired by his favourite cartoons. He loves drawing nature and he loves his job because it is very varied and gives him the chance to experiment. He REALLY loves his job because it allows him to communicate in an essential way through colour and line. He loves his family and walks in the mountain forests with clouds passing you by, and Enyaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s music while he works. Oh and he also loves good beer.

ANDY ROWLAND

Andy has always loved drawing; one of his earliest memories is of his dad bringing home reams of scrap paper from the printers for him to use because he went through so much. Eventually he went on to study Illustration at Manchester Metropolitan University, where, during his second year he won the Macmillan prize for the design and illustration of a childrenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s book. Since then he has worked freelance, mainly on childrenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s books, illustrating over one hundred books for clients such as Bloomsbury, Macmillan, Usborne, Hachet, Lerner, Pearson, Franklin Watts, OUP and many others. He has also worked artistically in the voluntary sector as well as mural work, portraiture, printed products and surface pattern design. Andy lives in Greater Manchester, England, with his partner and two children.

11 BASIA TRAN

Basia Tran is always an illustrator, often a designer, and sometimes an animator. Born and raised in Cracow, Poland, brought up in a Vietnamese household, she is currently based in Queens, New York after completing her studies at Ringling College of Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida. Consistently inconsistent, partially thanks to her upbringing, with a deep passion for variety and diversity in the world she pursues that in her life and work, hoping to beautifully share the truths she sees even if sometimes sad or bittersweet. Not always consistently inconsistent, the constants she treasures deeply are her dear family, her dear friends, and the constant urge to make jokes and understand more of the world, as long as chemistry, biology, and physics are not involved. In her free time she successfully makes playlists inspired by her favorite movies, and dances a little less successfully to them.

CARLO MOLINARI

Carlo Molinari was born in Santeramo, Italy, where he grew up and now lives. All his life, heâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s had a passion for comics, especially those drawn realistically in a personal style. He began his education at the Liceo Artistico and went on to study painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bari. He is inspired by the work of comic authors, like Sergio Toppi, Dino Battaglia and Attilio Micheluzzi, and by that of painters like Paul Gauguin, David Hockney and Lucien Freud. He likes to experiment with new media and with drawing the human figure. As far as working on the computer goes, he likes the different possibilities that each item of software has. He has worked with airbrush, acrylic colours, oil painting, pastel and other media. He likes to experiment and to play and does so with new digital media. In his spare time, he dances Argentine Tango. If he werenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t an artist, he would be a handyman, actor or dancer. Alternatively, he would be a character from a Moebius or Micheluzzi comic strip. He likes to listen to jazz, rock and classical while he works and taught himself English purely by using computer software!

CAROLINE ROMANET

After graduating Emile Cohl Arts School in Lyon quite a while ago, Caroline Romanet became a 3D artist for a French Videogame Company. Although the job was interesting, she didn’t enjoy herself that much and was feeling like a bird in a cage! She then thought she’d be happier trying to become a children book illustrator. Most fortunately, it worked ! A couple of years later, she had the craziest desire to become an « international » illustrator, especially to get published in the United Kingdom as she’s deeply attached to this country. She started to look for an illustrator agency and had the pleasure to be accepted by Advocate-art. Since then she has been working everywhere around the world. For a little time now, she has also been working under a pseudonym (Alice A. Morentorn) mostly on youngster’s novels, with ink and watercolor. She is now thinking of writing her own stories. Who knows, that could work too! She also teaches digital illustration and charcoal drawings at Emile Cohl’s School of Arts in Lyon.

CHELLIE CARROLL

Ever since being able to hold chunky crayons and deface her bedroom walls with them, Chellie has loved to draw. After studying Applied Arts at the University of Derby and a brief spell working as a designer within the retail industry, Chellie turned to Illustration and hasnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t looked back. Chellie enjoys experimenting with mixed media and is increasingly rediscovering pens, pencils and paint and incorporating these with her detailed computer-based vector line work. She enjoys creating intricate patterns and striking compositions with elegant, flowing lines. Chellie now lives in the Peak District with her partner and two children, working from her home studio, where she is surrounded by the beautiful, inspirational countryside and a plentiful supply of tea and biscuits.

CHRISTIAN CORNIA

Christian Cornia is a Character Designer, Illustrator and Comic Artist from Modena (Italy). When he was 4 years old, reading a comic book, he decided that he would be a comic artist and not an astronaut like other children. He is currently teaches character design at the Scuola Internazionale di Comics of Reggio Emilia. In addition, he is part of the Italian community of Urban Sketchers. He works digitally but remains a secret lover of the pencil and he doesnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t move without a sketchbook in his bag. He has created artwork and characters for publishers, advertising, video games and role-playing games, working as a colorist for the French market and as an inker for Marvel USA. He is currently one of the artists for Scooby Doo in Italy for Piemme Edizioni and he works on several books with Warner Bros Characters, including Scooby Doo.

CHRISTOPHER ABLES

Christopher Ables is a digital illustrator and graphic artist based out of Los Angeles, CA. A self taught and natural artist, Christopher has been drawing since he was a child. After relocating from San Antonio, TX to Los Angeles to pursue an education in the arts, he went on to work within the film and television industry after receiving degrees in Studio Arts and Digital Filmmaking. Heavily influenced by Disney animation and his role model Tim Burton, Christopherâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s work can best be described as a whimsical love letter to pop culture. Currently Christopher holds the position of Senior Motion Graphics Designer for the visual effects company, Ingenuity Studios. Outside of work, he is developing an animated series and self publishing a graphic novel. In his free time, he can be found drawing, sensing incoming intense weather patterns, quoting lines from 30 ROCK and The Golden Girls, carrying on conversations about Dinosaurs, finishing off an entire cake with little to no shame and falling in love with every dog he sees.

DAMIAN ZAIN

Damian Zain was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1974, he still lives there. From a very young age he wanted to be a artist, he grew up admiring great cartoonist like Quino, Roberto Fontanarrosa, Guillermo Divitio, Alberto Uderzo, Carlos Nine ... and many, many more !!! He learned a lot from Ruben Albarracín, a plastic artist, also from Buenos Aires (his uncle) who guided me in the first steps. Then, at age 14, he took comic classes with Oswal at Carlos Garaycochea’s drawing school. He worked for a children’s audience and he loved adding big doses of humor. He colours digitally but he prefers the traditional pencil and paper for the previous sketch. He usually draws while listening to music and his dog Dorothy leaves him alone if he starts singing. She does not have good musical taste he supposes.

DIANE LE FEYER

Diane was born and raised in France, and started drawing at a very young age. It’s always been clear to her that she would make a living drawing, and so she oriented her studies after High School toward Art. She can work from home, but she has an office where she is very productive, and that she shares with fellow artists. She doesn’t feel like she’s in a cave solo working! She loves Pre-Raphaelite and Victorian illustration and find lots of inspiration there, both in styles and mood. France has a lot of castles and stories to be inspired from, and she loves to look for the proper dress/style/castle. She has two kids, and her daughter who’s 5 and an half is already showing amazing drawing skills. She’s so proud! Maybe she’ll be an illustrator too, who knows?

EMILIANO MIGLIARDO

Emilano Migliardo is a cartoon illustrator represented by Advocate Art, Illustration Agency. He has always wanted to be a cartoonist, ever since watching them as a child. His favourite shows were The Pink Panther, The Three Stooges and The Simpsons, along with others. Along with cartoons he was and still is inspired by the drawings of Robert Crumb, Matt Groening, Shultz and Don Martin. Emiliano feels that his style generally reflects his personality in some ways; his work tends to be neat, well defined, fun and colorful. He worked for many publishers; Igloo books, Bloomsbury, QED publishing, Editions Caramel, Klutz, Pearson Australia, etc. He lives in Buenos Aires, but he will move next year to Spain along with his family.

EUGENIA NOBATI

Eugenia Nobati was born in 1968, Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she still lives with her family, two cats and a dog. Started as a Graphic Designer in 1990, but in 1997, she decided to dedicate her time exclusively to illustration, mostly to children’s books. Eugenia has worked with all kinds of stuff, from postage stamps to packaging to character designs for animation, always in her own style. Over the years, her work has been published in nine countries and more than forty books. She was selected among 16 illustrators, representing Argentina in Bratislava’s Bienal 2012. In 2014, she was recognised by ALIJA, Argentina’s section of IBBY, for the best illustrated book.

EVA MORALES

Eva was born and raised in Matarรณ, 30km from Barcelona in Spain, where she currently lives. She has drawn since she can remember. She has two older sisters; one is a painter and the other one is a musician. Art and crafts were very normal in her childhood home. In the nineties, when she watched a local TV series issued by Akira Toriyama, she knew she wanted to work in animation world. She studied Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, but she taught herself digital painting. Her personal motivation is to experiment and improve her digital art, and be able to publish her work with great illustrators like Jason Chan or Paul Bonner. Her inspirations are Studio Ghibli: Castle in the Sky, her neighbour Totoro, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, Ponyo and animators and cartoonists like Chris Sanders, Don Bluth and Glen Keane.

GIOVANNI COSTA

My name’s Giovanni Costa and I was born in Piacenza on 24th October 1985. As far back as I can remember I’ve always drawn, since my childhood, trying to copy comics and cartoons. In High School I attended an art school, Liceo Artistico “B. Cassinari” in Piacenza, then a comic book and illustration school, Scuola del Fumetto in Milan. My biggest influences are early 2000’s Cartoon Network animation, 60’s cartoons and illustrators (like Mary Blair) and all the modern new retro artists. For my work, I use a Wacom Cintiq, Photoshop and a little bit of Illustrator. I am always looking for the latest and newest form of the art I love, such as comic books, illustration and animations, mainstream and underground, to catch a glimpse of inspiration. I’m also a movie and TV series lover. I like listening to music when I work - any kind of metal and punk to classical music and movie soundtracks. I love Star Wars. A lot.

JACQUI DAVIS

Jacqui, also known as the Logic Fairy if you’ve ever tried to watch TV with her, was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and moved to the UK as a child. She currently lives and work in Lytham-St-Annes, which is great for walks through the woods, or ambles along the estuary. She’s been producing art for children’s books and board games since 2012, after studying Animation at Staffordshire University. She enjoys painting everything from adorable animals to villainous wizards, bringing life to characters is something she’s always been passionate about in her work. As long as there’s a good audiobook or movie on in the background she’s happy, and when she’s not painting she enjoys keeping the creative mojo going by doing a spot of writing.

JAMES LENT

My name is James, I was born in 1986 and I live in East Yorkshire. I live there with my wife and my two children, who all engage with my madness (or just put up with it) but they are truly an inspiration in my life and for my art. I am a self-taught artist, who transformed a childhood hobby into a love and passion after growing up with many magical tales by the likes of Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake, and in my later years, the fantastical worlds of Middle Earth and Hogwarts. I am very versatile and my style of work appeals to a wide range of ages from childrenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s picture books to young fiction. My illustrations are unique, quirky and full of life, and I use my imagination and creativity to bring a picture to life and target the intended audience.

JHONNY NUNEZ

Jhonny Nunez is a graphic designer and illustrator, born in southwestern Colombia and now based in Russia. He has gathered experience all around the world, studying at the Institute of Fine Arts of Cali, the Academy of Professional Drawing, the design school Joso Tarragona and Scola. He is the captain of a ship called Jhonny NĂşĂąez - STUDIO, a modest space that provides graphic design and illustration services to international agencies like BBDO Sancho, Charlot Enterprise, Amazon and many others. He has had the opportunity to work for prestigious brands like Microsoft, Unilever, Postobon, Norma, Victorinox, WeTransfer and others. Amongst his professional awards are five Behance Appreciation YDB Award and a prize. Now you know a little about him, know that he is always at your service!

26 JUAN CALLE

A former biologist turned science illustrator, trained at the Science Illustration program at UC Monterrey Bay. He worked early on hisillustrator career for field guides of plants and animals of hiscountry of origin, Colombia, and now owns and works in his art Studio, LIBERUM DONUM, doing concept art, storyboarding and his passion: comic books.

JUDIT FRIGOLA

Born in Figueres, in the north of Catalonia, on a full moon night of 1985, it was difficult for Judit to choose between becoming a judge or a chemist, so she opted for her great passion–drawing–and with it, illustration. Trained in graphic design at Eina Escola of Art and Design in Barcelona, Judit later specialized in illustration at La Llotj, where everything became clear to her. Or almost everything. She uses a cunning, crafted and colorful style that mutates and adapts. Among other things, she has illustrated children’s stories, magazines, textbooks and any other interesting proposals that have crossed her path, especially when it has to do with children or youth. She currently lives and works in her native Empordà. When somebody calls her to head up a new project, she jumps up and dances in a way you’ve never seen. Every time. Her cat looks at her in a funny way. When she is not at the studio, you can find Judit dancing Lindy hop or reading and labeling books in her bookstore. She knows, it sounds great.

LAURA TOLTON

Laura has always enjoyed drawing and has always felt her life would involve the arts, be it drawing, painting, acting or costume design. The English countryside, where she lives, provides inspiration and solace for her to work. Laura graduated from the University of East London in 2009 with a degree in Graphic Arts and Illustration. Her work includes books such as Robin Hood, Alice in Wonderland, American GirlÂŽ and Boudicca.

LUDOVIC SALLE

With a degree in visual communication, Ludovic imagines how illustrations appear to many customers. He likes to make them travel in time with colorful and attractive pictures, installing them in scenes that include aesthetic, funny or offbeat characters. His style varies according to demand, from cartoon to more realistic. It forms a creative universe under many influences, which makes it very unique. Ludovic likes challenges and thinks outside the box, so do not hesitate to use his creativity for your projects!

Marc is a self-taught illustrator from Lewes, East Sussex. As a child he drew endlessly, but it wasnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t until his son was born that he rediscovered his love of doodling â&#x20AC;&#x201C; both as a way to entertain his son, and as a source of entertainment for himself! Marc has since graduated from doodling and now works full time as an illustrator (although he would argue that there is very little difference between his doodling days and his present practice). He spends much of his time (fueled on strong tea) drawing silly pictures containing forlorn looking yetis, giant purple robots and the like. Marc works digitally with the aim of creating colourful engaging work, full of texture and atmosphere. He finds inspiration in gallery shows, museums, books, and funny things his 3 year old says (he was talking about flying jellyfish recently, which Marc feels he should definitely draw). Marc always finds the process of illustration a totally joyful experience and is very glad to have made a career out of it. He hopes to be drawing daft pictures for many years to come.

MARIA LIA MALANDRINO

Maria Lia is an illustrator and concept artist from Italy. Originally a self-taught artist, she grew up with Disney movies, Italian comic books (W.I.T.C.H., Corto Maltese, Dylan Dog) and Japanese anime (the work of mangaka Rumiko Takahashi and the inspiring imagination of Hayao Miyazaki), the mix of which helped develop her own style. She spent most of her formative years in England, gaining her BA in Magazine Publishing from the University of the Arts London, and then working and travelling in Asia. She has worked in several industry fields as a graphic designer, animator and concept artist, always feeling compelled to tell stories through pictures, be it in the form of a short movie or a videogame. She is now based in Turin, where she lives with Muta, a small raccoon dog from China, and works as a concept and story artist in animation and gaming

MARTIN BUSTAMANTE

Martin Bustamante is an illustrator and painter from Argentina. At the age of 3 he was able to draw a horse â&#x20AC;&#x153;starting by the tailâ&#x20AC;?, as his mother always says. As a teenager, he found in movies like Star Wars and books from Prince Valiant to Harold Foster, new and fascinating worlds full of colors, shapes and atmospheres that became his inspiration for drawing. At that moment, drawing and painting are his passions. He started working as a professional illustrator and has worked for several editorials and magazines, from Argentina to the USA to Europe.

MIGUEL RIVAS

Miguel was born in a small town in the south of Spain, called Cabra. At the age of 18 he moved to Seville to study Media and Communications. He learned how to use the audioviusal language to tell stories and how the media field works. When he finished college he moved to the UK. He lived in London for almost two years and studied Illustration at the Central Saint Martinâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s School of Art. After that he moved to Madrid, where he lives now, and studied Illustration and Animation at E.S.D.I.P. Nowadays Miguel works as a freelance artist for educational books publishing and contributes to advertising agencies, making illustrations and animations. He mainly does cartoon illustrations, but likes to try different things. He also makes limited animations with after effects and drawing comics. He loves trying new things and challenging himself.

MIKE REDMAN

Mike was born in Bath, 1991. He lived there for three years on a narrow boat that was docked near his father‘s work with occasional trips further afield. He and his family even went to Bristol on this awkward little craft. He lives there today. But in a house. Some of Mike‘s earliest memories that influence him today come from watching Disney films with his family. He often wore costumes. For example, his father made him an elephant trunk out of toilet rolls and erected cardboard trees that he could march through while watching Jungle Book. Mike was captivated by dinosaurs and was introduced to “A Land Before Time” that lead to another childhood obsession, pretending to be a Velociraptor, an act that was not complete without a claw that attached to his big toe, again made by Dad. Even though the costumes are no more, films were a big influence in his childhood and remain so to this day. He thinks they taught him to analyse and really look carefully at the world and draw inspiration from the seemingly mundane. Since then Mike has taken a degree in Illustration and works as a freelance illustrator. Outside of art, he enjoys downhill mountain biking, drumming, music, weightlifting and of course, cinema going.

MONICA ARMINO

Monica Armiño is a Spanish freelance illustrator. She graduated in Fine Arts and is based in Madrid, with an extensive knowledge of both digital and traditional techniques. She is able to draw in many different styles and she loves to experiment with light, color and textures. She has been always interested in focusing her career on children illustration and cartoons, and she has published several books with various publishers and agencies in Europe and USA. She also works for the animation industry as a character designer, background artist and color and texture artist, for feature films and pre-school TV series, like the winning-award “Puffin Rock” (Cartoon Saloon/ Dog Ears/ Penguin books) and the popular Spanish cartoon “Pocoyo” (Zinkia Entertainment).

36 PABLO PINO

I’m Pablo Pino. I was born in August 1981 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I grew up watching cartoons, playing football and drawing a lot. These days, I don’t watch as much TV and I only play football once a week, but I still have the joy of painting every day. Why? Because, for the last 10 years, I’ve been working as a professional illustrator for different print media. What I enjoy the most is illustrating books for children and teenagers. Besides the 40 published books I’ve illustrated, among novels and tales I also do characters designs, board games and collaborate on designs for schoolbooks and magazines with various worldwide publishing companies. I’m self- taught and my illustrations are mostly computer drawn but I always add textures that I make with pencils, crayons, acrylics and pretty much any material that lets me get messy like I was when I was a child.

PACO SORDO

Paco Sordo is a spanish freelance illustrator with more of a decade of experience working in comics, animation, advertising and picture books. His clients includes Nickelodeon, Rovio, Cartoon Networks and Hallmarks among others. He lives in Madrid and is passionate about science fiction novels, comic-books and cinema. The legend tells that no one can beat him playing Tetris.

PAPPY ONWUAGBU

Pappy Onwuagbu lives in a small town by the sea in the Western Cape of South Africa. He has a need to make and create things and the best way he knows how is through art. His influences range from experiences as small as watching a child smile, to funny stories, puns, seeing other art influences like cartoons, other artist’s work…the list is really endless. Pappy’s work is very diverse, the reason being that the clients he has worked with request various art styles per project, so it’s up to him to deliver their vision. He’s been lucky enough to have been published in books, top ranking games and movies When he’s not busy doing anything visual art related, he plays the guitar or plays around with making music digitally.

PEDRO ALBERTO

Pedro hadn’t planned to become an illustrator. He loved to draw as a child, but initially chose engineering as a profession. He worked as an engineer for a full decade before realising that all that maths really wasn’t for him and much prefer to make pictures for a living. Pedro now resides in Cantabria, a small town in the north of Spain, and works full time as an illustrator. He usually begins his image-making process by sketching in pencil and then reworking the sketches digitally. However, he does enjoy experimenting (perhaps it’s the engineer in him…) and often tries new techniques and approaches to see what results. When Pedro isn’t illustrating he enjoys spending time with his family and playing lots of board games. He is a voracious booklover, but regrets that he does not have enough time to do as much reading as he would like!

PIPI SPOSITO

Pipi was born in Buenos Aires in the fabulous 60â&#x20AC;&#x2122;s and hasalways drawn. As a little child, he used to makeplasticine figures too. He took them along to schoolas a hobby and at the age of 19 hefound out hecould earn a living by drawing. Pipistarted designing humor magazines and was surrounded by the original drawings of many experimented artists. At the same time, hewas encouraged to publish his ownworks. Hiscuriosity lead himfrom then onwards. Pipiâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;sdrawings are usually funny and expressive. He developscartoons and children illustration in different artistic styles, and also 3D figures and puppets. Hedoessome caricaturing as well, and he hasdone character design for animation, key animation and layouts. Pipi listensto music when he works. He lovesZappa, Bowie, Queen and he is fond of Progressive Rock. .

ROGER SIMO

Roger Simรณ is an illustrator based in a town near Barcelona, where he lives with his wife, son, and daughter. He has become the person that he would have envied when he was a child: someone who makes a living by drawing and explaining fantastic stories. Among his many projects, he is most proud of the first book he wrote and illustrated about his first child.

RYAN PENTNEY

Ryan Pentney is an Illustrator working out of Norwich. Never forgetting the cartoons and comics that shaped his childhood, Ryan has taken that love forward into his work. So, if itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s designing crazy scientists, giant robots, gallant knights or just some high school kids who are friends with a ghost, rest assured it will be right up his street.

SARAH GOODREAU

SARAH HOYLE

Sarah is an illustrator living and working in between the dreamy spires of Oxford, UK. She has always loved drawing, especially creating characters and scenes because she thinks people are endlessly fascinating and entertaining! Her illustrations usually start as hand-drawn line art in pen or pencil before working them up in Photoshop or Illustrator. When sheâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s not in the studio, she likes being out in the Oxfordshire countryside with her friends, making screen prints and attempting some experimental vegan cooking, nearly always sound tracked to 6Music.

STEFANO TAMBELLINI

“Stefano Tambellini was born in 1983 in a small town of Tuscany (Italy). He graduated in Traditional Hand-drawn Animation at the National film school in Torino. Then he moved to London, where he lived for 5 years, starting to work as an illustrator. Bloomsbury, Barrington Stoke, Harper Collins, Workman Publishing, Rizzoli and many others have published his drawings. He loves to illustrate monsters, creepy ghost stories, old classics, mystery tales and atmospheric fairytales. His main influences in drawing are Edward Gorey, Mervyn Peake, Shigeru Mizuki, Charles Addams and Joann Sfar. He lives with a grey cat called Mandragola and he’s also a stop-motion puppet maker and animator.”

YISHAN LI

Yishan Li is a professional British comic/manga artist currently living in Shanghai. Yishan Li has been drawing since 1998 and has been published internationally including USA, France, Germany, Italy and the UK. She has worked for a lot of big name publishers including DC and Darkhorse and is currently the artist for the Buffy the vampire slayer graphic novels.
