Florian Hoefner Trio Featuring Mike Murley

Born and raised in Germany, trained in New York City and now based in Canada, jazz pianist and composer, Florian Hoefner, draws from a myriad of influences that culminate in his unique brand of modern jazz. Desert Bloom, the sophomore album with this trio with Andrew Downing and Nick Fraser won a 2023 Juno award for Jazz Album of the Year (Group) and was nominated for two East Coast Music Awards. Nova Scotian saxophone legend, Mike Murley, for an evening of creative and energetic contemporary jazz.

Caity Gyorgy
Vocal Jazz
Caity Gyorgy (pronounced George) is a JUNO award winning Canadian vocalist known for singing bebop and swing music. She has performed across Canada, Mexico, Japan and the USA. Gyorgy has worked and recorded with incredible musicians and groups including Christine Jensen, Pat LaBarbera, Jocelyn Gould, Ira Coleman, and Postmodern Jukebox, to name a few.
Her albums Now Pronouncing and Featuring were awarded Vocal Jazz Album of the Year at the 2022 and 2023 JUNO Awards, respectively. Her next album You’re Alike, You Two will be released on July 21, 2023.

THE BEHROOZ MIHANKHAH ENSEMBLE AND NICOLA MILLER & LIVING THINGS FT. FRANK GRATKOWSKI
Contemporary Jazz/Avant
Nicola Miller is an improviser and composer. Her strange tender playing stretches toward the avant–garde while maintaining one foot in the melodic and mystifyingly lyrical. She recently returned from Berlin, Germany where she completed a Master’s in Jazz Composition and Arranging and also performed frequently in the Berlin improvised music and jazz communities. She has appeared alongside Tarek Yamani, Arseny Rykov, Enrique Luna, Frank Gratkowski and many others. Her current project entitled ‘Living Things’ features Toronto musicians Doug Tielli and Nick Fraser as well as Berlin improviser Frank Gratkowski and local bassist Nicholas D’Amato.
Behrooz Mihankhah is an Iranian Canadian, ECMA–nominated composer, pianist, and singer–songwriter based in Halifax. Inspired by his migrations through Iran, India and finally to Canada, Behrooz fuses various musical traditions, compositional techniques, and improvisational schools of thought and brings together listeners of various backgrounds.
