James Shaw's Vesuvius Big Band is an 18–piece Jazz ensemble comprised of 14 horns and a four piece rhythm section. Fresh off their 2021 ECMA nominated debut album, Live at Open Waters Festival they continue to push forward with a new project. “Hearing Halifax” tells the story of K'jipuktuk (Halifax) as a broadly diverse, changing city that is home to a remarkably rich music scene. Featuring the talents of Jah’Mila, Aquakultre, Raymond Sewell, Taral Naik, Jeff Reilly, Calen Kinney and James Shaw.
