Picture living green walls, water features, pockets of urban gardens, atmospheric scents and natural materials and bring them all together to create your Biophilic wedding
wedding summer 2017.qxp_Layout 1 24/08/2017 10:19 Page 30
When you picture your dream wedding, where do you feel happiest; the most connected, relaxed or content? Does ‘getting away from it all' for the big day conjure ideas of wilderness, birdsong and green vistas? The gentle trickle of a water feature in a country garden, hazy dappled sunlight, the scent of wildflowers in the breeze and the comforting sensation of grass between your toes? Is the sensory deprivation of your daily urban grind leaving you wistful for a multi-sensory nature hit? You're not alone! What is Biophilia? Biophilia is ‘the love of life or living systems', and it's instinctive. We have a deep-rooted connection to the natural world and yet our busy modern lives often limit our time within it. Biophilic Design is a term coined and popularised by American psychologist Edward O Wilson in the 1980's, born out of his concern of the negative effects of urbanisation. The idea encourages the use of natural elements in the design of your surroundings. It's no coincidence ‘Greenery' is the Pantone Colour of the Year. The aim? To stimulate all your senses, as nature would. By consciously using natural elements in interior design, we are unconsciously re-connecting with what makes us most happy. You may have started to notice elements of biophilic design at weddings such as living green walls, water features, pockets of urban gardens, atmospheric scents and natural materials that make you instinctively think of the great outdoors are being utilised by sharp event planners focused on well-being.

Décor – Collections of logs and tree stumps work to create an outdoor ‘room’ and pillar candles of differing sizes provide the ambience.
Décor - Garlands creep around trees as if they are growing there, and the repetition of vertical tree trunks into the distance create a dramatic natural backdrop. Stationery - White stationery has hewn edges and perfectly placed black serif typography.

Cake Image - The purity of a single tier white cake reflects the stillness and simplicity of the outdoors. Flowers - The detail comes from the loose, unstructured flower arrangements, which have the feel of being swept from the forest floor. The dried elements of twigs, seedheads and bracken combined with evergreen foliage give the arrangements a sense of longevity. Nude roses, blousy anemones and rich toned ranunculus and hellebores add a flighty sensuality.

London Luxe Cerian and Matthew were married on 29th July 2017 at Trinity House, Tower Hill in London
wedding summer 2017.qxp_Layout 1 24/08/2017 10:24 Page 47
How did you meet? I (Cerian) was in search of a gym that I could develop my Olympic Weightlifting technique whilst also participating in some CrossFit training. Matthew owns a gym named CrossFit Llantrisant - we became friends and eventually went on a date.
How did the proposal happen? We were with Matt’s family in New York for Christmas. Matt proposed in a Suite in the Tower of the Waldorf Astoria with Rose petals scattered on our bed with “Will you marry me?” Matt had picked the most perfect Cartier Solitaire ring. The ring I had said I will never have when we’d discussed engagement rings early on in our relationship. Matt attempted the proposal three times, but met issues each time. One being his flight being cancelled from Boston Airport after his skiing trip. We met Matt in New York; he had to have a Taxi from the Boston airport to NYC! Where did the wedding take place? The ceremony was held at All Hallows Church by The Tower and the Reception was held at Trinity House. What did the bride wear? A feather bust fishtail gown from Pronovias and Jimmy Choo Lang shoes.
What did the rest of the Bridal party wear? Gold sequin Bardot style floor length dresses for the maids of honour. Gold, cowl back, sequined floor length dresses for the Bridesmaids. 49
wedding summer 2017.qxp_Layout 1 24/08/2017 10:24 Page 48
What did you wear (groom)? Matt wore a Tom Ford suit and Givenchy Shoes. What was your theme? Gold and White “luxe”
Describe your cake We didn’t have a cake, we had a white and gold large Laduree macaron tower. We managed to give away the 390 macarons! Something we definitely have to credit to Zoe Turner, our Event Manager at Trinity House. Something Blue? A blue bow on a garter that I had borrowed from my sister.
What were the highlights? The ceremony, possibly the most nerve racking moment, however it felt very special and I absolutely loved hearing my Sister and Family Friend Jayne read. We also had my eldest niece Charlotte reading a Welsh poem about love. Seeing all the guests enjoy themselves. We had hoped that the day would run smoothly with limited time waiting around and this definitely happened. It’s amazing sitting back and watching your guests enthralled in conversations on the tables and enjoying the day. The speeches, from the introduction from Matthew’s dad (Captain Nigel Hope) who is an Elder Brother at Trinity House, to the emotional speeches given by both my Dad (John Phelps) and Matthew. It was lovely to have a bit of comedy injected into the day from Matthew’s 4 Best Men! For our first dance, my maid of Honour Amy sang “ All of Me” by John Legend and it was flawless. I cried throughout the majority, as it was such a special moment. The Laduree Carousse that served Ice Cream during the turn around. Spending the day with all of my favourite people and loved ones.
Your best buy? I can’t choose! EVERYTHING! I was so excited to wear my Dress and Veil. I will however say that I’m so glad I didn’t scrimp with regards to the Florist we used (Karen Woolven Flowers) or on the Photographer (Stephen Bunn Photography) and Videographer (Richard Leng). How did it end? The day ended with the majority of us heading over to the Sky Bar at the Double Tree by Hilton, me and the bridal party still in our dresses.
Is there anything you wish you’d done differently? No, it truly was the best day.
Where did you go on honeymoon? We are going to Disney World in September and staying at the Four Seasons. We LOVE Disney!

1920’s Glamour Claire and Bruce were married on 26th August 2016 at Poets House in Ely, Cambridgeshire
wedding summer 2017.qxp_Layout 1 24/08/2017 10:24 Page 51
How did you meet? Initially in Slovenia in 2009, I went to visit a friend for a long weekend, who was living and working over there in the Slovenian Alps doing paragliding guiding and Bruce was working with him. We call it sLOVEnia now ! Bruce moved back to the UK a few months later and we started seeing each other.
How did the proposal happen? At our home, 6 years later on Christmas Day in front of all of Bruce’s family, I had no idea, it was a complete surprise, it was a very happy and lively Christmas Day after that!
Where did the wedding take place? Ely in Cambridgeshire, the ceremony was at the register office followed by a reception at the beautiful Poets House Hotel. We knew it was the right venue as soon as we walked in - as our wedding was relatively small most of the venues we liked were large and felt too formal and cold for the amount of guests we wanted for the daytime (35), this was the perfect size and we loved the interior design and intimacy, yet it also allowed us to invite another 35 people in the evening to help us celebrate. 53
wedding summer 2017.qxp_Layout 1 24/08/2017 10:24 Page 52
What did the bride wear? A 1920’s inspired dress from Phase Eight, I looked at hundreds of designer and high street dresses but nothing I found compared to this and when I tried it on it was like it had been made for me, a perfect fit, it didn’t even need any alterations. I also wore some ivory vintage style shoes by Rachel Simpson. What did the rest of the Bridal party wear? The Groom wore a stunning bright blue three piece suit with an emerald green tie and brown shoes. We had one flower girl who was our 5 year old niece, Eloise and she wore a pink blush dress from Monsoon and some matching pink blush shoes.
What was your theme? We didn’t initially have a theme but as the hotel was so glamorous and my dress was 1920’s inspired, we decided to follow the vintage glam theme, that’s why we chose feathers for the tables instead of flowers.
Describe your cake The cake was very special to us as it was made with love by one of my oldest, dearest friends and decorated by her and another friend, they were still doing the very delicate handmade roses the night before the wedding - it was so hot they were worried they would melt. It was the first wedding cake she had ever made and it was beautiful. Something Blue? I had a powder blue feather bolero and also had my finger and toenails painted the same colour to match.
What were the highlights? The whole day was one big highlight but one particular special moment was when our 16 year old niece, Francesca, sang ‘How Long Will I Love You’ for our first dance. Your best buy? Definitely my dress, I couldn’t believe I had found such a beautiful dress on the high street. How did it end? We were there until the end as we stayed in a master suite at the Hotel; we didn’t want to miss a moment of the day or night. Is there anything you wish you’d done differently? No, nothing at all. Where did you go on honeymoon? Sandals in Ocho Rios Jamaica and it was fantastic!

Barn Dreams
Amy and Mark were married on 18th June 2016 at Haughley Park Barn in Suffolk.
wedding summer 2017.qxp_Layout 1 24/08/2017 10:25 Page 55
How did you meet? Mark and I met at Bournemouth University. We mixed in the same circles but didn’t really get to know each other properly until our third year when we worked together at a nightclub for a club night called We Are Your Friends. We were friends for around a year before we started dating in October 2010. Just a few weeks after we got together, Mark flew out to Whistler, Canada, to spend six months on a ski season so we have to do the long distance thing before actually doing the dating thing!
How did the proposal happen? Mark whisked me (and our dog, Sammy) off for a surprise week away to celebrate my 26th birthday. We stayed in an amazing log cabin (complete with our own hot tub!) in Sherwood Forest. On my birthday, we went off exploring for the day, once back at the cabin we lit the log fire, popped open the champagne and jumped in the hot tub. When I got out I put my hand in the pocket of my robe and found a Tiffany & Co box inside! I burst into tears and Mark got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was just perfect. Where did the wedding take place? We got married at my childhood parish church, St John the Divine in Elmswell, Suffolk, and then a horse and carriage took us just up the road to Haughley Park Barn, a beautiful barn converted into a wedding venue surrounded by parkland. What did the bride wear? My dress was a David Tutera Mon Cheri Lourdes dress, a mocha silk gown with ivory lace over the top and a chapel length train, with a Queen Anne neckline with jewelled sweetheart and little lace cap sleeves and a keyhole back. I accessorised with a chapellength ivory veil scattered with crystals and a crystal and pearl hair slide, simple pearl drop earrings, a string of pearls (originally my Nan’s and worn by my mum on her wedding day) and sparkly Kurt Geiger Carvella heels.
What did the rest of the Bridal party wear? My three bridesmaids work mauve floor-length dresses by True Bridesmaid and Hana, my flower girl, wore a beautiful gold-embroidered dress from Monsoon. Mark wore a grey, tweed three-piece suit with a white shirt, navy tie and pocket square, and brown brogues. His best man, ushers and our dads wore navy three-piece suits. They each had a personalised, engraved pocket watch as gifts for the day.

What was your theme? Mark and I both grew up in the country and wanted a charming country wedding with DIY details that were very personal to us. In-keeping with the country theme, we had lots of animal details on the day! We booked a beautiful horse and carriage (from The Ostler) as our transport and continued the horse theme (we both grew up with horses) with horseshoes across all of our stationary and horseshoe place names, which were made from real horseshoes. (My mum and mother-in-law collected the shoes from our horses over several years before all 120+ were cleaned and painted by my 91-yearold grandfather - a real labour of love!) To make the day personal to us we wanted to bring in some of our favourite things so, in honour of Mark’s love of skiing, we created a table plan out of a Whistler piste map and named all of the tables after ski lifts. And due to his love of gin we gave our guests homemade sloe gin (made using sloes we picked from the hedgerows of Suffolk) distilled into small bottles and decorated with stickers using a logo of our initials designed for our stationary. I work for the RSPCA so we also hung little animal charity keyrings on the bottles (and had collection boxes on the bar). I made little goody bags for the kids, which included books, toys, bubbles, a drink, sweets and colouring pencils. In tribute to how we met, we created a We Are Your Friends station (after the club night we met at), which gave guests the opportunity to decorate themselves with facepaint, glitter and glowsticks! We made almost everything ourselves from the place names to the favours and including the decorations. We hung fairylights above the dancefloor and used apple crates, hampers, horseshoes, bell jars and candles dotted around the room. We also filled old wellies with wild flowers, foliage and crops from the surrounding fields. As a tribute to our guests – and the distances many had traveled to be with us on the day – we built a sign naming all of the far-flung places from South Carolina, to Sydney, to Switzerland! Describe your cake A family friend made our cake which turned out to be a bit of a surprise for our guests on the day! From the front it looked like a normal five-tier ivory wedding cake decorated with flowers but, when we turned it around, it revealed Mark and I skiing down a special 'wedding' ski run with our beloved dog, Sam, waiting for us at the bottom! We had three flavours: fruitcake, lemon sponge and double chocolate; and it must have been tasty because it disappeared so fast that we didn’t even get any!
What were the highlights? Our first kiss – we jumped the gun and kissed too early so we had to do it twice, it was really funny! And the first dances. My best friend played his own version of Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud for our first dance, which was really emotional, and dancing with my dad was also really special. We mainly jumped around and sang in each other’s faces to a rock song called Heaven by Live. It’s all about a father’s love for his daughter. Your best buy? Our Mini Cooper photobooth! Everyone was amazed and spent a lot of time dressing up and jumping in for pictures! It was such a talking point! Or the ice-cream cart we had outside the church. It meant that while we were posing for photos our guests could enjoy a sweet treat!
How did it end? We had an incredible band called Beat Connection who played two sets and also had a DJ. The night ended with lots of our guests invading the stage to celebrate with the band! The DJ played one of our favourite songs and all of our guests lined the exit with sparklers as we waved goodbye and jumped in a Mercedes to speed off to our hotel for the night! Where did you go on honeymoon? We jetted off a few days after the wedding for an incredible two-week, three-stop adventure. Starting at Riviera Maya in Mexico staying at the beautiful, luxurious Secrets Akumal Resort, then after a week we headed for Las Vegas where we stayed at the MGM Grand Signature for three nights and then finished our tour with four nights at the Empire Hotel in New York.

Picture Perfect in Antigua

‘No filter needed’ is often the words you find hashtagged on an instagram picture depicting blue skies, turquoise seas and swathes of white sand, an idyllic place that you put on your bucket list - yet when you finally find yourself visiting you realise the #nofilterneeded was maybe a slight stretch from the truth – But at COCOS Hotel on the Caribbean island of Antigua these words can be used on every picture you post, it truly is an idyllic hideaway, perched on a lush green hillside, encircled by miles of heavenly blue sea and sandwiched between two gorgeous white sand beaches. Located on the sunset side of the island, this is the kind of paradise you usually only dream about. As soon as you arrive at COCOS the views are everywhere and simply take your breath away (it takes you longer getting from one place to the other as the photo opportunities just never stop). The staff are warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Before we’d even checked in we found ourselves enjoying a cool Pina Colada, whilst lounging in the open air reception area just taking it all in – we’d found paradise. Once we’d made our way up the hill to our cottage (a premium view) that was perched on the edge of the cliff amongst pretty foliage and stones, we were able to truly marvel at the views and why this hotel was so sought after. The turquoise blue waters sparkled under the suns rays and the white sand looked almost surreal from so far up. The room itself was large and spacious with rustic chic decor, dark wood floors and a 4-poster bed draped with mosquito netting, a well stocked mini fridge and tea and coffee making facilities and, if like us, you are a little tired after the climb up the hill, you can always take a rest in the hammock that hangs outside. Talking of outside, that’s where the shower is, another chance to take in the paradise around you (it’s like being in your own little outdoor jungle - in a luxurious kind of way). And if you wish to truly indulge why not opt for the Sunset Plunge Pool Cottage, where there's your own private infinity pool The ambience of this resort is very much laid back, you’ll find yourself leaving the more dressy items of clothing in your suitcase, – definitely don’t attempt the hill climb or descent in a pair of heels! Meals at COCOS are served in the multi-tiered open-air restaurant (that has, on more than one occasion, been named the most romantic restaurant in Antigua and I can see why) - set on the cliff side with even more amazing views. Although it’s an all-inclusive resort, it is nothing like an eat all you like buffet. All meals are served a-la-carte style with waitered table service, with daily specials for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The atmosphere is tranquil and intimate, with tables placed strategically looking out over the ocean, sipping champagne and watching the sun go down are memories that will stay with you forever. The menu itself offers a contemporary mix of international cuisine with strong Island influences, sourced locally from nearby farmers and fishermen. Each dish, whether it’s fish, vegetables or meat is presented perfectly and is full of delicious flavours that excite the tastebuds, leaving you wanting more. Once a week the restaurant has a BBQ, where for your mains you choose from a selection of chicken, beef, fish, pork and ribs and it’s freshly cooked in front of you.

Dinner finished, it is time to head to the bar area for an after dinner cocktail or two (again the hotel may be allinclusive but the drinks are all branded) – there is also a bar on the beach that is open 10am until 6pm, looking after you with smoothies, tasty cocktails, soft drinks and anything else you might need whilst sunbathing and swimming, with the added bonus of afternoon tea (sandwiches, cakes, tea and coffee) served from 4pm. The hotel is directly on its own private part of the beach and is the ideal spot to sunbathe, swim, snorkel, or just relax to the soft sounds of the sea around you. There is also a small pool, set amongst palm trees and foliage with a few loungers dotted around – for me though it has to be the beach everytime, nothing can beat walking over the soft sand, hand in hand, into the clear blue warm waters of the sea. A five minute walk from COCOS brings you to Jolly Harbor, a major tourism and sailing destination for the island. Here you can stroll round the shops, indulge in an ice cream or two or even go out on your very own boat – which is exactly what we decided to do – a 5 hour catamaran sailing trip just for the two of us (well and the skipper and his right hand man). Sailing around the Caribbean’s finest waters whilst lounging on the spacious sundeck enjoying cool drinks is pure heaven, passing by picturesque, rolling hills and secluded bays, before it’s time to drop anchor and enjoy some snorkeling and swimming. Whether you want to stay close to the boat and float around or swim to shore the choice is yours – but how can you be this close to your own private beach and not take a stroll on it? Back on the boat traditional Caribbean food is served, made on board whilst we were enjoying ourselves. The fresh fish, meat, salads and rice are delicious and there is certainly plenty of it. We headed back to harbor just as the sun was setting, a truly magical experience and highly recommended, if you only venture away from Cocos once this is a must. If all the excitement of sailing round the island has worn you out, and you feel the need to unwind a little more then a visit to COCO’s Serenity Cottage is just what the doctor ordered. Here you can indulge in a relaxing body massage that will have you floating out of the cottage feeling refreshed and rejuvenated - just be careful you’re not too laid back you fall down the hill! Apart from our little sailing trip, we did absolutely nothing, except lie on the beach, letting the stresses of everyday life just melt away and enjoying each other’s company. COCOS is truly memorable, a peaceful sanctuary offering couples the most romantic retreat, on the most idyllic island, with the most picturesque views. The only problem you’ll have is “When can you go back? BOOK it!

on your Minimoon
wedding summer 2017.qxp_Layout 1 24/08/2017 12:39 Page 67
Sometimes after the wedding of your dreams, it’s not always possible to go on a lavish honeymoon. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a fabulous minimoon a little closer to home. There are some truly unique and luxurious boutique style hotels in and around the UK but if you’re looking for something just a little bit special and different (well it is your mini-moon,) then we’ve found the perfect location, steeped in history, luxury accommodation, peace and tranquility, and amazing views – your very own Fort! Sitting in the middle of the Solent in the English Channel is Spitbank Fort – built in 1870 as a defense against Napoleon III, offering so much luxury you’ll feel like Royalty. The perfect place to escape to, a unique retreat away from everyday life, where history meets luxury. You can only reach the fort via a private boat that picks you up from Gunwharf Quay, in Portsmouth Harbour – It’s simple - check in at the Solents Office, (a two minute walk from your pick up point), drop your bags off and let your adventure begin. After a short ten-minute boat ride you arrive. It’s then time to carefully navigate the metal steps that take you onto the fort, where you’re greeted with a cool glass of champagne, that you can enjoy whilst sinking into the lavish chairs in the Victory Bar, taking in the amazing surroundings, before being given an official tour. Spitbank has been lovingly restored to preserve its character and history; there is a story everywhere you turn. From the dark and mysterious wine cave to the metal tracks on the floor used to guide the wheels of the canons in days gone by - every nook and cranny brings you something new to discover, including the fort’s very own resident ghost! Artifacts are everywhere and nowhere is out of bounds, the fort literally is yours for 24 hours along with 8 other couples (that’s if all the rooms are taken). It’s a mini-moon so why not treat yourself to one of the two Admiral Suites, chic and stylish offering space in abundance, exposed brickwork and arched ceilings where the large metal hooks that used to hold the hammocks of soldiers still hanging from the rafters – (if the large, comfy bed with its crisp linen sheets is not to your liking, then the hammock is always an option!) Then there’s the awe-inspiring sea views that add to the nautical ambience, especially when accompanied with another glass of champagne. A bottle of ‘Spit’ water (the water is from Spitbank’s own artisan well, bottled on site no less, hence the name ‘Spit’ water), along with tea and coffee making facilities, makes you not want to leave your room – but that’s not possible when there’s a rooftop hot tub calling your name. Lunch is served on the top deck of the fort in the Crow’s Nest bar, where you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the Solent across to the Isle of Wight. And then it’s up to you, dip back in the hot tub, explore the rabbit warren of rooms that lies beneath the bedroom floor, have a drink in the Victory Bar, fly a kite, fish, or just sit outside and admire the views – The choice is yours until 4.30pm when it’s time for tea and cake and maybe a little more champagne (if you manage to hook the string on a hook on the wall - a game that the soldiers used to play for hours on end to while away the time, you can win a glass or two of champagne). Dinner in the evening is served in The Officer’s Mess Restaurant, having been previously featured on Michel Roux Jr’s Hidden Restaurants on Channel 4, you are guaranteed an impeccable menu serving things such as home cured duck pastrami, oriental seafood; Himalayan salt aged lamb and a dessert plate to share. When dinner is finished, it’s time to head back into the Victory Bar where cheese and biscuits, tea and coffee are served. The night is young, you can stay in the bar, explore some more (if you’re feeling brave you can take a stroll around the inner walls (torch needed) which is where the ghost of Sergeant Henry Jones is said to walk), huddle around the open air firepit and roast marshmallows, even take another dip in the hot tub, the choice is yours. At night the views from the top of the fort are just as breathtaking as in the day with the lights of Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight glittering in the distance. Retiring for the night, you are lulled to sleep by the lapping of the waves softly against the side of the fort. Next morning breakfast is taken in the Officers Mess, before you have to embark and leave this magical place – your own sanctuary in the middle of the sea.
Who says you have to hop on a plane to the other side of the world for a secluded, romantic getaway? BOOK IT!

The Rogers set off to Petit St.Vincent for the romantic trip of a lifetime.
wedding summer 2017.qxp_Layout 1 24/08/2017 10:31 Page 69
A
fter 10 nights on the beautiful island of Barbados at Crystal Cove we ventured to the luxury island of Petit St. Vincent for a minimoon. The island is located between St. Vincent and Granada and is only accessible by speed boat. When considering our wedding abroad we knew we wanted to have a mini honeymoon of pure indulgence and tranquility to be able to allow for the previous 10 days to sink in and be able to reflect. We had never heard of Petit St. Vincent so when our travel agents, Eagle Travel, mentioned it we had a look online and saw just how spectacular, private and relaxing it looked. With just 22 cottages on the island we knew we had found our mini-moon destination. We flew from Barbados to Union Island by propeller plane, it was only about an hour flight and was a real experience in itself. Once we landed we were greeted and taken to the dock to our speed boat which whisked us off to an island in the distance. Upon arrival at the island (PSV) we were met by the manager, his team, a cocktail and a chauffeur driven mini moak. These are the only form of transport on the island (other than by foot) and are a lovely little touch that adds to this islands individuality and class. Each cottage has its own views, either hill top or beach fronted and has garden areas with sunbeds, hammocks, dining areas and lounge areas. The bedrooms are very spacious and the bathrooms have plenty of storage and space. Although there are phones in the rooms, these are not the preferred point of contact as the island is run on a flag system. In your cottage you have a leather bound folder with request slips . you simply fill in your request, be it a lift to the beach bar and restaurant, a refill of your favourite drinks in your mini bar or a three course meal laid out privately in your cottage. Place your request into the bamboo shoot outside your cottage and raise the yellow flag. This is then collected and organised extremely quickly and efficiently. There is also a do not disturb flag that can be raised if you'd rather not be disturbed at all for turn down service, etc.
We used this system a lot and enjoyed many meals in our cottage. However the beach bar and grill restaurant was our favourite spot especially at sunset. It was never crowded or too busy, we always managed to get a table and the food was amazing and beautifully fresh. The lobster was our preference as we enjoyed it for at least one meal every day! We spent one afternoon on a tiny island called Sandy Island which was a 10 minute boat ride from the dock at PSV. The island has nothing on it, it's literally a pile of sand with just one umbrella for shade but is surrounded by the most spectacular views and gorgeous clear blue waters which was perfect for snorkeling. We spent a couple of hours on this tiny island with a picnic and thoroughly enjoyed the privacy of our very own island. When we booked PSV we wondered if we would be bored on the Island but as soon as we arrived the answer was clear, we had made the right choice and the only mistake was that we were only there for four nights. It was the relaxing break we wanted but it also had a great atmosphere in the evenings when we fancied a few drinks at the beach bar with other islanders. We did a couple of snorkeling ventures of our own, we did some fishing from the beach jetty, had treatments in the spa and found they had plenty of tours and options on offer. You automatically feel like part of the island family, not just a guest. You buy into its beauty and naturally, untouched surroundings. There are no TVs, no Wi-Fi (other than in reception) and barely any phone signal anywhere. It's a real break from reality and a chance to experience something that is truly second to none in our opinion. A destination where you can honestly relax, unwind and completely switch off. It doesn't come with a cheap price tag, but we would say it was worth every penny. BOOK it
